Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

And so it was that when Zhao Rong, his assistant, Lili, Yu Lan, and Xuelian emerged from the nightclub, they had all become rich.

Zhao Rong had received a government award of one million British Pounds for helping Xijing City take down a foreign criminal gang. Lili had used a criminal detection device to catch a wanted fugitive, earning a bounty of 300,000 yuan. Yu Lan had also captured a wanted criminal, receiving a similar 300,000 yuan bounty. As for Xuelian, she had earned a reward of one million yuan for reporting that a certain celebrity was a wanted fugitive. The assistant had done the best of all, earning a reward of three million US Dollars for assisting Interpol and the FBI in the capture of two major criminals.

By the time they returned to the school, day had already broken. The security guards at the gate, the same ones Zhao Rong had beaten up earlier, were now incredibly obedient upon seeing him. They didn’t just grovel; they treated him like a big shot.

Back in the dormitory, Zhao Rong lay down on his bed, ready to sleep. But then, he suddenly remembered the fleeting black shadow he had seen on the balcony of the three women’s dormitory the day before. Immediately, he began to worry about their safety, and the concern was so great that he couldn’t sleep peacefully.

If I want to sleep soundly, I should just move into their dormitory and protect them around the clock, 24/7. Only then will my mind be at ease enough to actually fall asleep.

After all, being a bodyguard was his calling, and protecting the three women was his most important duty. But for him, a grown man, to move into a dormitory with three young women… that seemed a bit inappropriate.

Seeing no other option, Zhao Rong grabbed his phone from the bedside table and opened the Paradise Shopping Cart app. He pictured a machine in his mind, something that would allow him to travel freely between the two dormitories. That way, he could guarantee their safety.

He decided to give it a shot and typed ”dormitory shuttle device” into the search bar of the Paradise Shopping Cart. He assumed there was no way the app would sell such a futuristic, science-fiction gadget. But to his astonishment, as soon as he entered the search term, a list of sleeping bags appeared.

This is strange, Zhao Rong wondered, staring at the screen in confusion. I want to buy a machine that can shuttle me back and forth between my dorm and the girls’ dorm. Why is the website showing me a bunch of sleeping bags?

Just as he was puzzling over this, he noticed the user manual for the sleeping bags. To his amazement, these sleeping bags were the so-called ”dormitory shuttle devices.”

His eyes widened as he carefully studied the instructions. The more he read, the more shocked he became. It turned out these sleeping bags were indeed various kinds of dormitory shuttles. As long as a person lay inside one, the sleeping bag could transport them between different dormitories based on the user’s thoughts. Furthermore, the transport was completely silent, non-destructive, and incredibly discreet.

Without hesitation, Zhao Rong purchased a mid-priced dormitory shuttle device. To his relief, the shop offered free shipping, and the delivery service was the impressive Hummingbird Express team.

Sure enough, less than half an hour after he placed the order, a flock of hummingbirds flew in through the window of the dormitory he shared with his assistant. The hummingbirds were about to speak to Zhao Rong, but they saw his assistant sleeping soundly and snoring loudly. Not wanting to disturb him, they simply smiled at Zhao Rong and gestured for him to check the package and sign for it once he confirmed it was undamaged.

After Zhao Rong signed, the Hummingbird Express team departed cheerfully.

He looked at the object before him—a dormitory shuttle device that looked just like a sleeping bag. Curious, he got out of bed and opened the package. When he did, he couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed. The material of this supposed high-tech device felt completely ordinary, no different from a regular sleeping bag.

Still, he decided to give it a try. Without bothering to change, Zhao Rong, wearing only his boxer shorts, lay down inside the device. Once settled, he tried to command it with his subconscious.

Take me upstairs to Room 504, where the three women are…

He lay there, but felt absolutely nothing. Just as he was getting annoyed, thinking the device was a dud and he would have to return it, he noticed something strange. The sound of his roommate’s snoring was gone. The smell of the assistant’s foot odor had vanished as well.

Startled, Zhao Rong sat up. As he did, he immediately saw the three women sleeping in their beds. He saw Lili, dressed in a very thin nightgown, fast asleep on her stomach. Yu Lan was wearing a bikini-style nightie, lying flat on her back with her mouth slightly open, drooling. Xuelian’s sleeping position was the most unique; she was on her stomach as if doing a yoga pose, her bottom arched high in the air.

Zhao Rong sucked in a sharp breath. Holy cow, this thing is for real. This Dormitory Shuttle Device I bought online actually worked. It brought me from my room to theirs, silently, without any damage, and with perfect stealth.

Just as he was getting excited that his purchase was genuine, Lili suddenly sat bolt upright in bed. She got out of bed and stared straight at him. When Zhao Rong saw her glaring, he held up his hands and awkwardly tried to explain.

”Lili, don’t misunderstand! I didn’t come here to spy on you three. I came to protect you, so I shuttled here from my dorm… I’ll just stay for a little while to make sure you’re safe, and then I’ll go right back to my room…”

But despite his lengthy explanation, Lili showed no reaction at all. Zhao Rong studied her expression carefully and instantly realized she wasn’t awake. She was sleepwalking.

After getting out of bed, Lili walked directly to a cabinet near her bed and opened it.

Is she going to try and cook while sleepwalking? Zhao Rong wondered.

But to his horror, Lili didn’t pull out a pan. She pulled out a sharp knife. Holding it tightly, she walked toward Yu Lan. When she reached the bed, she raised the knife high above her head with both hands and plunged it fiercely toward Yu Lan’s chest.

Seeing that Lili was about to commit murder in her sleep, Zhao Rong acted in a flash. He vaulted forward, snatching the knife from Lili’s hands just in time.

He thought that disarming her would wake her up, but he was wrong. Lili immediately rushed into the bathroom, emerged with a pair of scissors, and went straight for Xuelian, aiming for her neck.

When Zhao Rong saw her attacking again, this time with scissors, he charged forward once more. He forcefully wrenched the scissors from her hand, then used an over-the-shoulder throw to toss her onto the bed.

That sharp jolt was enough to finally snap Lili out of her sleepwalking state. As she woke up, her eyes focused on Zhao Rong, who was now standing there holding a knife in his left hand and a pair of scissors in his right.

Instantly, she began to scream. ”Help! Help! Brother Zhao Rong, why are you trying to kill us?!”

Her screams jolted Yu Lan and Xuelian awake. Still drowsy, they saw Zhao Rong standing in their room holding weapons and were scared out of their wits.

Just then, however, Lili’s mind began to clear from the fog of sleep. She looked at Zhao Rong and mumbled to herself, ”Brother Zhao Rong… you’re our bodyguard and our savior. You would never hurt us…”

Xuelian, also looking at him, asked with a shocked expression, ”Brother Zhao Rong, when did you get to our dorm? How did you get in?”

Yu Lan, scratching her head in confusion, chimed in, ”Brother, what are you doing in our room?”

Facing their horrified expressions, Zhao Rong put down the knife and scissors and began to explain. ”Listen to me, I’ll tell you everything…”

When Zhao Rong finished telling them about buying the Dormitory Shuttle Device and what he had just witnessed Lili do with the knife and scissors, the three women were utterly dumbfounded.

Xuelian looked at Lili, her face pale with fear. ”Lili, we’re best friends! Why would you try to kill me with scissors?”

Yu Lan looked at Lili with a terrified expression. ”Lili, I’ve always thought of you as my dearest sister… why did you try to stab me?”

Lili, however, couldn’t believe she would do such a thing. But when Zhao Rong showed her the video he had just recorded on his phone, she was shocked beyond words.

She looked at Zhao Rong in disbelief. ”Brother Zhao Rong, someone must be controlling my sleep and my dreams from the shadows! That’s the only reason I would have tried to kill them under their control…”

Zhao Rong nodded, finding her theory plausible. ”Lili, you’re right. Regarding this sleepwalking assassination attempt, we need to come up with a plan.”
