Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

When the crematorium staff heard another zombie incident had occurred, they immediately organized, grabbing wooden clubs and rushing toward the furnace.

After the assistant leaped out from inside the furnace, he clutched his chest in fright. ”Thankfully, I woke up just in time,” he said, his voice trembling with delayed fear. ”If I had been a minute, or even just a few seconds later, I’d probably be a pile of ashes right now, mistaken for a corpse...”

As the assistant lamented his fate, he slowly made his way out of the crematorium. However, just as he stepped out of the room, he saw dozens of people brandishing wooden clubs, completely surrounding him.

The assistant looked at the crematorium staff in bewilderment. ”What are you all doing?” he asked, completely baffled. ”I’m a living person! Are you really going to throw a living man into the furnace? That’s murder, don’t you understand?”

Before he could finish, the crematorium director jumped forward, waving a wooden club. ”You zombie, stop pretending to be human!” he shouted. ”Here at our crematorium, we’ve seen plenty of dead people turn into zombies. I’m warning you, surrender now! Otherwise, we’ll beat you to death with our clubs!”

Upon hearing this, the assistant finally understood they had mistaken him for a zombie. He quickly tried to explain, ”Please, everyone, don’t misunderstand! I’m really a human, not a zombie!”

Despite his desperate pleas, the crematorium staff remained unconvinced. The director stepped forward, pointing his club at the assistant. ”What proof do you have that you’re a human and not a zombie?”

The assistant faltered. He didn’t actually know the difference between a human and a zombie. Improvising, he started jumping on the spot. ”Look, I can jump!” he announced to the staff. ”And I’m so light on my feet when I do!”

When the director and the staff saw the assistant jumping, especially in a manner that looked remarkably like a zombie, they began whispering among themselves. ”No doubt about it, this guy is definitely a zombie. And a particularly cunning and deceitful one at that.”

Next, the assistant spun in a circle. ”See? I can also spin around on the spot!”

As the staff watched him spin, they huddled together again, murmuring, ”That’s right. When the dead turn into zombies, they often spin around. His posture is exactly the same…”

Finally, the assistant opened his mouth wide, baring his teeth. ”Look! I don’t have any fangs. Now you have to believe I’m not a zombie, right?”

However, the assistant’s two canine teeth were particularly sharp. When the crematorium staff saw them glinting, they exchanged knowing glances and whispered, ”That settles it. This zombie has proven it himself. He’s a zombie, through and through. What are we waiting for? Let’s grab him, throw him in the furnace, and burn him to ashes! If a zombie like this escapes, he’ll threaten public safety and go on a killing spree!”

After he finished his performance, the assistant looked at the crematorium staff, smiling to himself. I’ve put on such a show for you. Surely you must believe I’m a human and not a zombie now...

With that thought, he swaggered confidently toward the crematorium exit. But before he had taken two steps, all the employees, led by the director, charged at him with their clubs raised.

Before he could react, the assistant was tackled to the ground by the crematorium employees, who then began beating him mercilessly. Just as the assistant was wailing, certain he was about to be beaten to death, Zhao Rong suddenly rushed in with Miss Lili, Yu Lan, Xuelian, and Principal Wang Guihua.

When the assistant saw Zhao Rong and the women rushing to his rescue, he cried out between sobs, ”Brother Zhao Rong, hurry and save me! These guys are really going to beat me to death with their clubs!”

As he ran forward, Zhao Rong tried to explain to the staff, ”Everyone, please don’t misunderstand! This person is my assistant. He’s truly a human, not a zombie!”

Hearing Zhao Rong’s words, the crematorium staff retorted skeptically, ”What proof do you have that this person is a human and not a zombie?”

At this, Zhao Rong immediately retrieved a human and zombie detector from his Magic Ring. He held it up for the staff to see. ”This device in my hand can distinguish between humans and zombies. If you trust me, I’ll test him right now to clear things up for you.”

The crematorium staff looked at Zhao Rong and then at the device in his hand. They nodded in agreement. ”Since the young man has a human and zombie detector, let him test this guy. We’ll see if he’s a man or a monster.”

Meanwhile, the assistant crawled toward Zhao Rong from the ground. ”Brother Zhao Rong, please use the human and zombie detector on me, quick! Otherwise, these guys are going to beat me to death, thinking I’m a zombie!”

Seeing his assistant’s wretched state, Zhao Rong quickly used the detector on him. The results appeared almost instantly, displaying a clear message: *This person is human. Unmistakable.*

When the assistant saw the results, he breathed a huge sigh of relief. Then, looking aggrieved, he turned to the crematorium employees. ”You people attack without thinking! You just grabbed a perfectly normal human and started beating him. I suggest you buy one of these human and zombie detectors online so you don’t make this mistake again!”

As the assistant spoke, Zhao Rong suddenly noticed something horrifying. Staring at the detector in his hand in astonishment, he whispered to Miss Lili beside him, ”No way… According to the infrared scan on this detector, besides the director, every single one of these crematorium employees is a zombie.”

Miss Lili was stunned. She leaned close to Zhao Rong’s ear and whispered back, ”Brother Zhao Rong, are you sure your detector isn’t broken? How can all the crematorium employees be zombies?”

Yu Lan walked over, also in disbelief, and said quietly to Zhao Rong, ”Brother Zhao Rong, this doesn’t seem logical. If all these employees, except for the director, were zombies, they would surely be a menace to society. Yet the area around the crematorium is perfectly calm. There haven’t been any incidents of zombies eating people.”

Xuelian, however, had been carefully observing the employees. ”Brother Zhao Rong,” she said to him, ”I don’t think there’s anything wrong with your detector. I’ve noticed a very strange trait among these crematorium workers.”

Intrigued, Zhao Rong asked, ”Xuelian, what common trait did you find?”

Xuelian’s eyes narrowed as she frowned. ”Haven’t you noticed?” she whispered. ”These crematorium employees are all expressionless, their faces are colorless, and they don’t even have any body heat.”

As she spoke, Xuelian produced a thermal imager she had prepared. As everyone knew, under a thermal imager, any human or animal with body heat would appear red. Yet, the crematorium employees showed no color at all. From this, Xuelian concluded they were all, without a doubt, corpses that had turned into zombies.

Seeing all this, Zhao Rong exclaimed, ”My God, that’s completely mind-blowing.”

Just then, the assistant looked at Zhao Rong. ”Brother Zhao Rong, thank you for rescuing me in time. But how did you find me?”

Zhao Rong took a DNA locator from his Magic Ring. ”We put your DNA sample into this, of course. We were only able to find you thanks to this high-tech gadget. Otherwise, finding you in this huge world would have been like looking for a needle in a haystack.”

The assistant felt as if he’d been given a second chance at life. ”Thank goodness those crematorium employees showed some mercy and didn’t beat me to death,” he said gratefully to Zhao Rong. ”Otherwise, I’d definitely have been cremated by now.”

Zhao Rong looked at his assistant and quietly warned him, ”Quick, hide behind me. Did you know? Other than the director, every single one of these crematorium employees is a zombie, not a human.”

Hearing Zhao Rong’s words, the assistant promptly fainted. Thirty seconds later, however, he jolted awake. Scrambling to hide behind Zhao Rong, he cursed, ”Damn it, how could I be so unlucky to run into so many zombies? It’s a good thing I’m so lucky and tough. If they’d bitten me, I’d either be a zombie now or ashes in that furnace.”

At this moment, Wang Guihua came over, her eyes fixed curiously on the crowd of zombies. ”Brother Zhao Rong,” she asked, ”I have a question I can’t figure out. Why would the director of this crematorium keep so many zombies here? Isn’t he afraid of being alone with them all day? What if he accidentally gets eaten?”

Zhao Rong was wondering the same thing. ”I guess this director must be no ordinary person,” he mused aloud. ”Otherwise, how could he live, eat, and sleep alongside these zombies for so many years?”

Just as Zhao Rong and Wang Guihua were speculating, the director suddenly let out a furious roar. ”I’ve been in this crematorium for years, and no one has ever discovered my secret! But today, my luck ran out, and a bunch of you young brats and little girls had to find out. However, in this world, anyone who discovers my secret must die!”

With that, the director commanded his legion of zombies to attack Zhao Rong and his group.
