Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 30: Chapter 27: Assassin Mask

Zhao Rong was the first to spot the chairman getting out of a luxury car and walking into the training center. He reminded the nearsighted Miss Lili beside him, ”Miss Lili, why is your dad here?”

Hearing that her father had arrived, Lili hurriedly waved and rushed over to him.

When the three bodyguards lying on the ground saw the chairman, they all began to crawl toward him. The first one to reach him, a bodyguard in sunglasses, clung to the chairman’s leg and wailed, ”Chairman, you have to stand up for us! Your daughter’s bodyguard, Zhao Rong, beat us up for no reason at all.” As he spoke, he burst into tears.

The chairman looked at his three injured bodyguards. ”You three are my top men. How could Zhao Rong beat you up this badly?” Clearly, the chairman couldn’t believe that a single person, Zhao Rong, could have seriously injured his three elite bodyguards.

Just then, the chubby bodyguard also crawled over. He pleaded his case before the chairman, ”Chairman, we only came over to see if your precious daughter, Miss Lili, was being bullied so that we could protect her. We never imagined that this Zhao Rong kid would beat us up so indiscriminately.”

The chairman looked at the chubby bodyguard’s bruised and swollen face and asked again, ”Were the three of you really beaten into this state by Zhao Rong?”

The bodyguard in the suit crawled over next, fawning over the chairman. ”Chairman, that Zhao Rong kid looks deceptively frail, but when he fights, he’s like a giant! The three of us were not only no match for him, but we couldn’t even lay a finger on him.”

Hearing how formidable Zhao Rong was, the chairman turned to him and asked, ”Zhao Rong, are you really as capable as these three say?”

Before Zhao Rong could answer, the chubby bodyguard slandered him. ”Chairman, you always taught us that no matter how skilled someone is in Martial Arts, they’re worthless if their character is corrupt. This Zhao Rong is exactly that kind of person—a man with a corrupt character who uses his strength to bully the weak. Don’t be deceived by his seemingly kind appearance!”

After he finished, the bodyguard in sunglasses thought, The chairman will surely take pity on us and discipline or even fire Zhao Rong.

The suit-wearing bodyguard looked at the chairman, thinking along the same lines, We’ve been with the chairman for so many years. He’ll definitely protect us and give Zhao Rong a tongue-lashing.

The chubby bodyguard pointed at his own arm and added, ”Chairman, do you have any idea how viciously he attacks? This kid, Zhao Rong, actually broke my arm!” Once he had spoken, he thought, The chairman will fire Zhao Rong on the spot and make sure we three injured men are well taken care of.

However, to the three bodyguards’ astonishment, the chairman looked at Zhao Rong and said directly, ”Young man, when I first hired you as my daughter’s bodyguard, I only saw that you were good at charming girls and seemed like an honest person. I never expected you to be so skilled in combat. I hereby announce your promotion to our company’s Bodyguard Instructor, with command over all other bodyguards.”

At these words, not only was Zhao Rong stunned, but the three bodyguards lying on the ground, beaten and disheveled, were also speechless.

They all looked at the chairman in unison and asked, ”Chairman, what about us?”

Hearing this, the chairman kicked away the bodyguard in sunglasses clinging to his leg, glared at the one in the suit, and sneered at the chubby one. ”You worthless fools! I spent a fortune sending you to professional bodyguard training clubs abroad, yet you can’t even handle one young brat. What use do I have for you?” With that, he called over the female secretary behind him. ”Listen carefully. Fire these three good-for-nothings immediately.”

Hearing that the chairman not only had no sympathy for them but was also firing them, the three bodyguards were utterly devastated. They had come here to steal Zhao Rong’s job and leave him high and dry. They never imagined that this young kid would be the one to take their jobs instead. Now, not only were they covered in injuries, but they were also unemployed. The three bodyguards could only howl at the sky, weeping without end.

When Zhao Rong heard that the chairman wanted to promote him to Bodyguard Instructor, he said hesitantly, ”Chairman, I’m just an ordinary, poor student. How could I possibly be the Bodyguard Instructor for a company as large as yours?” Evidently, the ever-humble and cautious Zhao Rong lacked the confidence to take on the role.

Hearing Zhao Rong decline his offer, the chairman said immediately, ”Zhao Rong, are you turning this down because I haven’t mentioned the compensation? Let me be frank: as long as you become our company’s Bodyguard Instructor, your annual salary will start at no less than one million.”

The prospect of earning a million-dollar annual salary was enough to sway Zhao Rong. He nodded and said, ”Since the chairman holds me in such high regard, I’ll give it a try.”

Seeing Zhao Rong accept her father’s invitation, Miss Lili said happily to the chairman, ”Dad, choosing Zhao Rong as your Bodyguard Instructor is definitely the wisest choice. In the days I’ve spent with him, I’ve discovered he isn’t just highly skilled in Martial Arts. His character is also outstanding, and his wisdom is beyond that of an ordinary person.”

Listening to his daughter, the chairman joked, ”Daughter, you haven’t fallen for this young man, have you?”

At his words, Miss Lili shyly lowered her head. ”Dad, what are you talking about? I just broke up with my ex-boyfriend not long ago. How could I move on so quickly?”

Hearing Lili mention her ex-boyfriend, the chairman’s expression hardened. ”Lili, don’t you ever mention that assassin boyfriend of yours in front of me again. Do you know what he did? Your ex-boyfriend threatened me. He said that if I didn’t give him company shares, he would hire the Demon Mask, our city’s most ruthless assassin, to deal with you.”

Miss Lili was stunned. She hadn’t expected her ex-boyfriend, Wang Jingang, to be so completely vile. She said, ”Dad, I’m not afraid. As long as a formidable bodyguard like Zhao Rong is here to protect me, I’ll be safe.”

The chairman looked at Zhao Rong. ”Zhao Rong, I originally came here to promote the bodyguard in sunglasses to be our company’s Bodyguard Instructor. His first assignment would have been to capture the assassin, Mask. Now that you’ve taken his place, this honorable task falls to you.”

Zhao Rong was taken aback, thinking, I just dealt with that serpent monster Wang Jingang sent, and now there’s another mission already?

Hearing the name ”Mask,” Yu Lan, who was standing behind them, said worriedly, ”Zhao Rong, you can’t accept this mission! Mask is the most dangerous assassin in the city. He’s a phantom who kills from the shadows, a demon who murders without batting an eye.”

Xuelian also chimed in, ”Brother Zhao Rong, no matter how powerful you are, you’re no match for Mask. You shouldn’t be the Bodyguard Instructor. It’s too dangerous.”

Despite Yu Lan and Xuelian’s warnings, Zhao Rong still accepted the job. He felt that since the chairman was paying him a high salary to be Miss Lili’s bodyguard, he had a duty to protect her with all his might. He could not tolerate the existence of anyone who posed a threat to her.

Just as Zhao Rong was about to formally accept the mission, the chairman suddenly said, ”Zhao Rong, I know you’re hesitant. But I can give you my guarantee: if you complete this task and capture Mask, I will give you shares in our company.”

Hearing that the chairman was offering him company shares, Zhao Rong’s eyes widened. He knew the chairman’s company was worth an astronomical amount. Even a mere 0.001 percent of the shares would be worth tens of millions.

Thus, Zhao Rong nodded firmly. ”Chairman, I accept this mission.”

Upon hearing this, the chairman immediately told Zhao Rong Mask’s possible locations and ordered him to eliminate the threat to his daughter as swiftly as possible.
