Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 19: Chapter 18: Black Mountain Old Demon

Hearing Yu Lan’s words, Zhao Rong was startled as he fantasized about the sweet scenes she described. In a hushed voice, he asked her, ”Even if everyone else is asleep, we’re in a car. If we move, it’ll shake...”

Hearing his concern, Yu Lan smiled seductively. ”Zhao Rong, you’re so old-fashioned. Haven’t you heard what’s popular these days...?”

At this, Zhao Rong’s eyes widened. He couldn’t believe it. In a car, without it moving? Curious, he asked, ”Can you tell me beforehand what kind of trick you’re planning?”

Yu Lan kept him in suspense. ”I can’t tell you right now. I’ll tell you after they’re both asleep.”

With that, she pretended to sleep, silently waiting for Miss Lili and Xuelian to drift off. Thinking about what was going to happen later that night, Zhao Rong rubbed his palms together, eagerly hoping the two women would fall asleep quickly and leave him and Yu Lan enough time for themselves.

An hour passed, and Xuelian finally succumbed to her drowsiness. Two hours passed, and Lili was still tossing and turning. After three hours, it seemed Miss Lili was still awake. By now, Zhao Rong could barely keep his eyes open. He looked at the wide-awake Yu Lan beside him and whispered, ”Yu Lan, I think Miss Lili’s asleep. Why don’t we... right now? If we wait any longer, I’m afraid I’ll fall asleep too.”

Seeing his anxious expression, Yu Lan smiled confidently. ”Well, it seems I still have my charms if I can make a great hero like you fall for me. But it’s not time yet. Miss Lili isn’t asleep.”

Zhao Rong felt that Miss Lili’s breathing had become very regular, and he was sure she was asleep. ”Yu Lan, I really think Miss Lili is already asleep,” he insisted.

Yu Lan listened carefully to Lili’s breathing. ”Zhao Rong, be patient. Just wait a little longer. As soon as she starts snoring, we’ll know she’s completely out.”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong could only bite the bullet and wait.

Suddenly, Yu Lan opened her eyes and looked at him. ”Zhao Rong, do you have a weapon on you?”

Confused, Zhao Rong replied, ”A weapon? I didn’t bring any weapons.”

”If you didn’t bring a weapon, then why do I feel...?” Yu Lan asked, perplexed.

Embarrassed, Zhao Rong awkwardly shifted his position. ”There. Is that better?”

Yu Lan nodded, saying shyly, ”So it was you...”

Before she could finish, they suddenly heard Miss Lili start snoring. Realizing Lili was fast asleep, Zhao Rong looked at Yu Lan. ”Miss Lili is asleep. Can we start now?”

Yu Lan listened carefully to the snores. ”Yes, we can begin.”

Curious, Zhao Rong asked, ”Yu Lan, you said we could do it in the car without it moving... Is that for real?”

Yu Lan puffed out her chest confidently. ”Absolutely.”

Zhao Rong’s imagination ran wild. ”So what kind of position would keep the car from moving?”

Yu Lan smiled. ”A vertical drop.”

Hearing ”vertical drop,” Zhao Rong was completely lost. ”I’ve heard of a lot of positions, but never that one. Can you explain?”

At that, Yu Lan leaned in, shy yet wild, and whispered into his ear.

When Zhao Rong heard her explanation, his heart began to pound. Isn’t she just asking me to ’go to...’?

he thought, then concluded, It looks like tonight, I’m going to...However, just as Yu Lan was about to initiate the ”vertical drop,” a strange shriek echoed from not far away. Since Zhao Rong was from Earth, he had no idea what made that sound. He looked at Yu Lan, who had frozen mid-motion. ”Yu Lan, what are you doing? Keep going, why did you stop?”

In stark contrast to his composure, Yu Lan was terrified. ”Zhao Rong, this is bad! The legendary Black Mountain Old Demon is here!”

Hearing the name ”Black Mountain Old Demon,” Zhao Rong was stunned. He looked out the window and saw a creature that was neither human nor ghost approaching them. ”What Black Mountain Old Demon? Your world has demons?”

Yu Lan quickly got dressed, her voice trembling with fear. ”Legend says that anyone who encounters the Black Mountain Old Demon in the Primeval Forest won’t live to see sunrise.”

As the demon’s eerie cries grew louder, the other two women in the car, Lili and Xuelian, were jolted awake by the chilling sound. Startled from her dream, Lili listened to the sky-piercing noise. ”Oh my god, has the Black Mountain Old Demon appeared?”

Xuelian also cried out in alarm, ”How could we be so unlucky? If we run into the Black Mountain Old Demon, we’re all dead.”

Seeing the three women scared out of their wits, Zhao Rong sat up. ”Ladies, don’t be afraid. I’ll go out right now and drive off that Black Mountain Old Demon.”

As he spoke, Lili suddenly noticed his state. ”Zhao Rong, why are you naked?” she gasped.

Xuelian also exclaimed in surprise, ”Zhao Rong, why did you take your clothes off?”

Hearing them, Zhao Rong realized that in his haste, he had forgotten to get dressed. Embarrassed, he scrambled for his clothes while making an excuse. ”Sorry, ladies. I like to sleep in the nude.”

”Shameless,” Lili shot him a glare.

Xuelian, however, glanced at the woman beside him. ”Yu Lan, you didn’t take advantage of Zhao Rong, did you?”

Just then, the Black Mountain Old Demon reached the car. Before anyone could react, it swatted the roof off with a single blow, exposing all of them to its gaze. Seeing the demon right in front of them, Lili immediately dropped flat. ”Zhao Rong, get down, quick! And hold your breath! The Black Mountain Old Demon is blind. As long as it can’t smell our breath, it won’t be able to find us.”

Before she even finished, Yu Lan and Xuelian were already lying down. Seeing the three women on the floor, Zhao Rong followed suit and held his breath.

After tearing off the roof, the Black Mountain Old Demon leaned down, bringing its face close to their nostrils to sniff for any sign of breath. Miss Lili held her breath perfectly, and the demon didn’t detect her. Next, it sniffed Yu Lan and Xuelian, but it couldn’t detect them either.

By this point, Zhao Rong had been holding his breath for a full minute. Damn it, this thing really knows how to pick them, starting with the beauties, he fumed internally. Hurry up and sniff me already, I’m about to suffocate!

His limit for holding his breath was ninety seconds. The Black Mountain Old Demon finished with the women and moved to Zhao Rong just as he hit that limit. He couldn’t hold on any longer.

The women lying next to him were relieved, thinking they had safely fooled the demon. Looks like we’re going to get through this unscathed after all.

However, just as they were celebrating their narrow escape, Zhao Rong stared into the terrifyingly ugly face of the demon looming over him. He couldn’t hold it in and let everything out with a forceful spray. His saliva and snot shot directly onto the Black Mountain Old Demon’s face.

Discovering Zhao Rong and enraged at being sprayed with foul spit, the demon roared, ”Damn it! I’ve been sniffing humans for years, but this is the first time I’ve ever smelled breath this rotten! It’s disgusting!”

It turned out Zhao Rong had added a lot of minced garlic to his dipping sauce during hotpot earlier, so his breath reeked of putrid garlic.

Realizing he’d been discovered, Zhao Rong performed a kip-up and vaulted out of the car. ”Black Mountain Old Demon, we have no quarrel! Why did you have to show up in the middle of the night and ruin my good time? Do you have any idea how important a man’s wedding night is? I can’t believe you! You could have come out any other time, but you had to pick this exact moment! I’m so pissed off...”

Hearing his rant, the Black Mountain Old Demon was first taken aback, then roared furiously, ”Damn it, you’re more long-winded than a monk! I’ve been eating humans for years, and you’re the first one I’ve met who talks this much when you’re about to die...”

With that, it lunged at Zhao Rong, intent on ripping him to shreds before slowly devouring him.

Facing the charging Black Mountain Old Demon, Zhao Rong wasn’t afraid at all. He had, after all, chanced upon a can of pepper spray in the car earlier.

Let’s see what’s stronger: your sharp fangs or my pepper spray.
