Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Sign the Life and Death Agreement and Give It Your All

”Bro, with your rare talent and extraordinary physique, you should come work for our Girl-Chasing Company,” the man wearing a small watch said.

Zhao Rong, a university student, was worried sick about finding a job. Although he was curious about what on earth the Girl-Chasing Company was, he followed the man to their office anyway.

As soon as he stepped inside, the boss walked over. ”Brother, are you here to apply? If you can win over Miss Lili, the campus belle, this bonus of one hundred thousand yuan is all yours.”

Zhao Rong, who was short, plain-looking, and flat broke, was immediately tempted by the stack of cash in the boss’s hands. He asked, ”Boss, is your company’s whole business just chasing beautiful women?”

The boss grinned, flashing a gold tooth. ”Of course. Otherwise, why would we be called the Girl-Chasing Company?”

Thinking of his student loans and the money he’d borrowed for his parents’ medical bills, Zhao Rong gritted his teeth and nodded. ”If I can win over the campus belle, that one hundred thousand is mine?”

”Absolutely,” the boss nodded. ”But you have to sign a life-and-death contract with us. If you get hurt by the campus belle’s boyfriend—your love rival—it has nothing to do with the company.”

Zhao Rong was stunned. What kind of company is this? Chasing a girl is a life-threatening job?

But to pay off his debts, he signed the life-and-death contract with the Girl-Chasing Company.

Just as he finished, a man who looked like the chairman of a major corporation walked in. He looked Zhao Rong up and down, then asked the boss, ”I gave your company a one-million-yuan deposit. How is it that half a year has passed and my daughter is still with that damned assassin, Wang Jingang?”

The boss of the Girl-Chasing Company said apologetically, ”Chairman, I’m working hard on it, getting my employees to pursue your daughter. In fact, we just spent a fortune to hire a top-tier girl-chasing expert, Zhao Rong. He will surely live up to expectations and pry your daughter away from that assassin’s clutches.”

Standing to the side, Zhao Rong nearly fainted when he heard the campus belle’s boyfriend was an assassin. Sending me to pursue an assassin’s woman? Isn’t that a death sentence? And the shamelessness of this boss, lying to her father and calling me some top-tier expert!

It turned out the chairman disapproved of his daughter’s relationship with the assassin but was powerless to stop it. His daughter, in the first flush of love, not only refused to break up with him but had fallen completely for the assassin’s sweet talk. With no other options, the campus belle’s father had resorted to coming to the Girl-Chasing Company, begging them to send a capable man to win his daughter over. It was the only way he could think of to get her away from the assassin.

However, half a year had gone by, and every man the company had sent was either injured by the assassin or by his daughter herself. As the chairman of a major corporation, her father was beyond frustrated.

Hearing that the young man before him was a hired expert, the chairman sized Zhao Rong up skeptically. ”This boy... he doesn’t even look 1.7 meters tall. He’s scrawny and homely. Can he really get my daughter away from an assassin?”

The boss of the Girl-Chasing Company gave the chairman a guarantee. ”Chairman, rest assured. If Zhao Rong fails to win your daughter’s heart, he will atone with his death.”

Hearing such a grim promise, the chairman brightened up. ”Well, if you put it that way, I’m relieved.”

Having just signed the contract, Zhao Rong listened to this exchange and felt a sinking feeling that he’d just signed up for a suicide mission.

Just then, a kind-hearted colleague leaned over and whispered, ”Buddy, you can’t take this job. The three guys who took it before you were all tougher than you are, weren’t they? They ended up with broken legs or broken arms. The last one didn’t even make it out alive.”

Zhao Rong’s eyes went wide. He was about to back out right then and there.

But before he could say a word, the boss had his men stuff Zhao Rong into a car. An assistant was dispatched to take him to pursue the campus belle.

In the car, Zhao Rong had had enough. ”Stop the car! Your company is a scam! You’re sending me to my death! I quit! Stop the car, I want out!”

Hearing this, the assistant just laughed scornfully. ”Didn’t you just sign a contract?”

”So what if I did?” Zhao Rong shot back. ”I don’t want to do it anymore. What’s your company going to do, bite me?”

The assistant roared with laughter. ”Not bite you, no. But didn’t you see what was written in black and white? If you quit, or if you fail to win over the campus belle, you’re in breach of contract.”

The words ”breach of contract” hit Zhao Rong like a ton of bricks. How could I have been so careless? I didn’t even read what I was signing!

He asked, ”What are the consequences for breaching the contract?”

The assistant glanced at him and sneered. ”Once you breach, you not only have to pay the company a penalty of one hundred thousand yuan, but you’ll also be responsible for repaying the one-million-yuan deposit from the campus belle’s father.”

At that, Zhao Rong burst into tears. ”I said I wouldn’t do it, but you made me...”

Before he could finish, the assistant pulled the car over. He pointed to a stunningly beautiful young woman walking out of a nearby Managerial Training Center. ”Zhao Rong, that’s Lili. She’s the campus belle of the training center, the chairman’s daughter. Get out and go after her.”

With that, the assistant shoved Zhao Rong out of the car.

Shoved from the car, Zhao Rong was about to get back in and quit, but the moment he saw the campus belle, Lili, he froze. It wasn’t just her incredible figure, snow-white skin, or angelic face. It was that she looked exactly like a girl he’d had a crush on in his childhood, Li Li.

As Zhao Rong’s eyes remained fixed on Lili, the assistant chuckled in the car. ”Look at this guy, staring googly-eyed the second he sees a hot girl, thinking he’s hit the jackpot. The real show is just about to start. Just you wait till Lili and her assassin boyfriend beat you to a pulp.” He burst out laughing again.

After walking out of the school gates, Lili spotted the familiar Cadillac. She turned to her classmate and said, ”Damn it, that crappy Girl-Chasing Company sent another salesman after me. They want to ruin my relationship with Wang Jingang? Not a chance. Watch me take care of this guy.”

With that, Lili strode toward the Cadillac.

When the assistant saw her approaching, he quickly got out. ”Hello, Miss Lili! This young man is the new guy our company sent to pursue you. His name is Zhao Rong.” Standing behind Zhao Rong, the assistant started to laugh, eager to see how Lili would thrash him.

Hearing that the short guy in front of her was another suitor from that company, Lili swung her hand to slap him hard across the face, cursing, ”Go to hell!”

Watching the slap fly, the assistant thought, Lili has trained in internal martial arts and Jeet Kune Do. If that slap lands on Zhao Rong’s face, he’ll be dead or crippled.

It all happened in an instant. Zhao Rong’s right hand shot out, his five fingers spreading like a pincer to catch Lili’s wrist in mid-air.

He looked at her and asked, ”Lili, are you the Li Li I knew from the shores of Lake Daming, all those years ago?”

Zhao Rong might have seemed scrawny and weak, as if he lacked the strength to even tie up a chicken. However, since childhood, he had possessed Special Abilities that ordinary people lacked: namely, a reaction time as fast as a cat’s, at least a hundred times faster than a normal person’s.

Therefore, no matter how fast his opponent was or how agile their strike, to Zhao Rong, everything unfolded in slow motion.
