Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1651: Chapter 1635: Old Acquaintance

Arriving at the location Han Wen had arranged, I was led by the staff to a refined private room upstairs, where I immediately saw Han Wen and Chen Yu upon entering.

”You’ve arrived? I heard from the old man that you came to the Imperial Capital. I figured you must be busy and didn’t call you. If not for Han Wen suggesting we have a meal together, I wouldn’t have dared to invite you,”

Chen Yu couldn’t help but say upon seeing Huo Sining.

Huo Sining smiled: ”Yes, I went to England for some business, and since returning, I’ve been busy and didn’t manage to catch up with you all.”

Suddenly remembering something, Huo Sining looked at Han Wen: ”Sister Han Wen, is this place owned by a friend of yours?”

Han Wen nodded: ”Yes, we’ve been friends for over ten years. My friend heard you were coming and insisted on getting your autograph later. He’s a big fan of yours, a die-hard one, and loves watching your magic performances.”

Huo Sining laughed: ”An autograph is no problem. I just wanted to mention that not long ago, Gu Xu and I went to Dover, and we went out to sea to catch some seafood. We took a private jet back, so I brought some of the seafood along, still fresh. I heard from our phone conversation that this place is owned by your friend, so I thought if the kitchen allows, we could have some of it prepared for everyone to taste, how about that?”

Han Wen’s eyes lit up upon hearing this: ”Atlantic seafood? You all went out to sea and caught it yourself? Of course, we can do that. I’ll tell my friend right away. There’s a chef here who’s exceptionally good at cooking seafood!”

Huo Sining smiled upon hearing this: ”Alright, I’ll go get it from the car.”

Saying that, Huo Sining went to the parking lot and retrieved from her car trunk (storage ring) a deep-sea cod, a grouper, several large Dover lobsters, and a very fresh piece of tuna, all packed in a foam box, which she promptly took to the kitchen.

Over there, Han Wen was chatting with her friend. Seeing Huo Sining arriving, she hurriedly smiled and said:

”You’re here just in time. The seafood chef is currently free in the kitchen. I mentioned you had fresh Atlantic seafood, and the chef agreed right away.”

She then pulled her friend over and introduced him to Huo Sining:

”Let me introduce you, this is my friend and also my distant uncle, Liu Qingdong. He owns this place.”

”Uncle Dong, this is Huo Sining. By the way, I remember that you’re also from Rongcheng, right, Huo Sining? So, you and Uncle Dong are kind of hometown folks?”

Liu Qingdong looked at Huo Sining and smiled without saying a word, leaving Huo Sining a bit dumbfounded.

Because surprisingly, Huo Sining knew Han Wen’s friend.

”Little girl, long time no see.” The middle-aged man in front of Huo Sining smiled and said.

Huo Sining couldn’t help but laugh: ”Uncle Liu, what a coincidence! I didn’t expect to run into you here. How come you ventured to the Imperial Capital?”

Indeed, this person was the first major benefactor Huo Sining encountered after her rebirth.

Back when she was in Rongcheng, to gather tuition money, Huo Sining had caught many river mussels at Baiyun Reservoir and took them to the county market to sell, but nobody was interested in them.

Just when Huo Sining was about to give up, she met a man purchasing fresh produce at the market. The man immediately took a liking to her wild mussels and not only did he not haggle but also was willing to buy them all from her at a lump sum price.

What’s more, this man gave her his business card, saying that as long as she could provide the same quality mussels, he’d buy them all, and the price would be fair.

Thanks to this man, Huo Sining accumulated enough money from hundreds of pounds of mussels and a golden softshell turtle to make her first trip to S City. That money became her first bucket of gold on her road to wealth.

This honest and sincere person who helped her was none other than Liu Qingdong standing before her.

Because of this connection, Huo Sining had always been grateful to Liu Qingdong. Later, while she was in S City, she even specifically called the number on the business card Liu Qingdong had given her, hoping to recruit him to help her out in S City. However, to Huo Sining’s surprise, Liu Qingdong’s number had become disconnected and was unreachable.

Going round in circles, and to meet him again in the Imperial Capital, the twists and turns of fate are truly marvelous.

Seeing an old acquaintance, Huo Sining was in a good mood, and even Han Wen seemed more agreeable to her.

Especially upon learning that Han Wen was a distant relative of Liu Qingdong, Huo Sining thought that if Han Wen’s requests weren’t excessive later, she wouldn’t mind doing her a favor.

Han Wen hadn’t expected these two to know each other. Han Wen wasn’t aware of Huo Sining’s past circumstances in Rongcheng, but she did know how her uncle had fallen on hard times in recent years. Given Huo Sining’s status as Chief Lu’s god-granddaughter and the Gu family’s daughter-in-law, it seemed unbelievable to Han Wen that she was acquainted with her plainly dressed, ordinary uncle.

Han Wen was decent in other respects, but she was a bit snobbish, liking to categorize people into different classes. If her uncle hadn’t opened a restaurant in the capital city and gradually improved his status, Han Wen likely wouldn’t have brought Huo Sining to dine at this place.

However, now she felt a bit secretly grateful. Her uncle knew Huo Sining, and by the looks of Huo Sining’s enthusiastic demeanor, their relationship seemed quite significant. It appeared she had made the right move.

Meeting Liu Qingdong, Huo Sining was no longer concerned about Han Wen and Chen Yu, pulling Liu Qingdong aside to catch up. Huo Sining was particularly curious and puzzled about how Liu Qingdong, in his forties or fifties, had ended up venturing into starting a business in the Imperial Capital.

”Uncle Liu, weren’t you the head chef at Jixian Restaurant? How did you end up coming to the Imperial Capital?”

Liu Qingdong showed a bit of helplessness: ”Jixian Restaurant folded, and I had nowhere to go. I wandered in Rongcheng for a while, aimlessly. I realized I couldn’t go on like that, so I thought of venturing out to start a business. It happened that I came to the Imperial Capital and found that private dining here had good potential, so I decided to try opening my own place.”

Huo Sining was surprised upon hearing this since she had been greatly impressed by the former boss of Juxian Restaurant, Zhao Xian. He was a shrewd man, with good insight and brains, adept at seizing business opportunities, much more so than the average person. Under his management, Juxian Restaurant could only flourish. There was no reason for it to fold.

”Wasn’t Juxian Restaurant doing well? I remember that batch of wild mussels I provided attracted a large crowd of diners. With business so good, how could it fold?”
