Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1660: Chapter 1644: Talking at Cross Purposes

However, Huo Sining wasn’t planning to mix in the TV industry, so offending a TV director didn’t bother her much.

”The naming rights have already been settled, the contract signed. Even though a director has a certain amount of power, they can’t unilaterally breach the contract.”

Huo Sining smiled, ”As long as I can advertise Jade Beauty, I don’t care what kind of person this director is; anyway, I won’t have any interaction with him. Alright, let’s leave it at that. Since the director doesn’t want me to be the host, then I won’t do it. I’m not too keen on this task anyway, so I’ll head back.”

Han Wen secretly thought this Station 10 was being unprofessional. How could they send such a clueless director? They went through great lengths to invite Huo Sining, only to give her the cold shoulder and offend her? If it were those pampered daughters from Imperial Capital who came, it wouldn’t be surprising if they overturned the studio.

But Han Wen didn’t say this in front of Huo Sining. Internally, she was planning to visit Station 10 and have a serious discussion with their director.

After all, she’d convinced Huo Sining to join the show, and this director foolishly targeted her out of nowhere, embarrassing Han Wen.

Besides, Huo Sining’s status is different from other hosts or celebrities; her identity and status are genuine. Station 10 is being so reckless, aren’t they afraid of offending Huo Sining and facing consequences later?

Although Han Wen wasn’t familiar with the official circles in Imperial Capital, she was close friends with Chen Yu and had heard about the Gu Family’s situation.

It’s said that both the old man and old lady of the Gu Family are very protective, even Mrs. Gu is skilled in martial arts. Mistreating their youngest daughter-in-law, wouldn’t the Gu Family get furious if they found out? The wrath could spell disaster for Station 10.

Han Wen was indignant, thinking the leaders at Station 10 must be out of their minds. Just then, her phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, Han Wen sneered inwardly: Here we go!

It was Director He Guolin from Station 10 calling.

Han Wen answered the call but didn’t mention the incident, instead, she spoke in a peculiar tone: ”Oh, Director He, how come you have time to call me?”

He Guolin wasn’t foolish; he could hear the sarcastic tone in Han Wen’s voice and quickly said with a wry smile:

”Little Han, don’t play tricks with me. I know all about the situation at the studio. This is indeed our fault; Miss Huo and you were wronged. I’ve already dealt with the matter. Miss Huo is with you, right? Please give her the phone. I want to apologize and assure her we will provide a proper explanation.”

Hearing this, Han Wen couldn’t keep being stubborn. She might have lost face, but she couldn’t let Huo Sining’s reputation be tarnished. After a brief thought, she handed the phone to Huo Sining.

Huo Sining had heard Han Wen call Director He, so she guessed who it might be. But she didn’t expect that upon receiving the phone, as soon as she said hello, the person on the other end eagerly spoke:

”Miss Huo, hello, I’m Director He Guolin from Station 10. I’m terribly sorry about today. Director Ke, who I appointed, acted thoughtlessly and inconvenienced you. I apologize on behalf of the program team; I hope Miss Huo doesn’t mind.”

”Director He, you’re being way too polite. This matter actually isn’t...”

Huo Sining felt a bit awkward, not expecting such a small issue to prompt a station to lower itself and seek her forgiveness.

However, before she could finish, Director He interrupted her and continued:

”It’s deserved, deserved. I’ve already dealt with it. Director Ke is quite busy, so we’ve appointed someone else to lead the new program.”

”Miss Huo, rest assured. Station 10 is not an institution that arbitrarily places blame on employees. The skewed thoughts of an individual don’t represent our program unit’s stance. We value this new show and hope you won’t bear any grudges.”

Huo Sining was immediately stunned upon hearing this; she didn’t expect Station 10 would directly oust Ke Zhenyue from his chief director position.

No wonder Ke Zhenyue’s face was so dark earlier, and when passing by, he deliberately bumped into her – it was due to this.

Huo Sining was speechless. She didn’t want to make a mountain out of a molehill, but this insignificant issue, due to her unique status, made Station 10 extremely cautious, fearing they’d upset or offend her.

Being flattered like this was bizarre, and Huo Sining felt uncomfortable as she wasn’t accustomed to her current status, nor did she understand why people were afraid of offending her.

However, since it had already happened, she couldn’t critique Director He’s way of handling things too much. After some thought, she nodded and said:

”Director He, let’s leave it at that. I’m still at the station and will definitely go to record the program. I also hope the program team doesn’t treat me specially or differently.”

”Everyone is ordinary, all working as equal colleagues. I don’t want my presence to disrupt the harmony among the staff. We should work and interact normally. You shouldn’t dismiss someone over such a minor issue again or make others think I’m difficult to deal with. I’m actually quite easygoing, not demanding.”

Director He hurriedly replied, ”Yes, yes, yes, I’ll leave the new program to you then. As for the upcoming tasks, the leadership won’t interfere, Miss Huo, rest assured.”

Huo Sining felt defeated and speechless at Director He’s response. She had clearly requested that Director He treat her equally, but he misinterpreted her words, assuming she wanted to monopolize the program team and prevent leadership involvement in the new show.

This left Huo Sining feeling like she was speaking a different language, utterly bewildered and amused.

Such is the nature of bureaucratic organizations, where speaking and acting are skillful disciplines. Her straightforward words had morphed into a different meaning in the ears of Director He, leaving Huo Sining uncertain of how to continue the conversation.
