Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1700: Chapter 1604: Before the Competition

In the following days, Huo Sining and the others followed the senior staff from the Maritime Bureau to Xingting Reservoir. While explaining the maritime experience to the interns, the senior staff also informed them about the responsibilities of the Maritime Bureau for this competition.

Since Xingting Reservoir was to be the competition venue, the surrounding area began to be cleared. The organizers had already booked the whole reservoir area, and the Maritime Bureau was responsible for the safety of the watercraft, preventing pollution, inspecting and registering related water facilities, etc.

The work was extremely meticulous, but such matters cannot afford the slightest negligence. Being a large international competition and the first stop, FLW attracted the attention of fishing enthusiasts worldwide; if any problems arose, it would tarnish the image not just of the Magic Capital Maritime Bureau but could also lead to international conflicts and disputes.

Thus, while leading Huo Sining and the others on patrol in the reservoir, the senior staff cautiously and tirelessly conducted checks repeatedly, fearing any mistakes might occur.

A week before the competition, many participants had already arrived in the Magic Capital. Led by the organizers, the participants came to the reservoir, the preliminary competition venue, to start trial exercises and get familiar with the venue.

Following this, the latest live streaming technology was launched, including aerial photography by helicopters, underwater cameras, head-mounted cameras, Weibo live streams, and large event satellite broadcast vehicles. Through satellites, the Magic Capital Fishing Channel was set to broadcast the event nationwide, and the official website would stream it globally online.

Huo Sining and the other trainees stood by near the reservoir, ready at all times. It was the first time the other trainees had seen such a competition, and they were all very excited and expectant.

Three days before the competition, Huo Sining encountered Zheng Huaqing, who brought a group of team members to inspect the venue, unexpectedly meeting Huo Sining at the reservoir. His eyes lit up instantly and, ignoring the surprised looks of others, walked straight toward Huo Sining.

”Miss Huo, why are you...”

Zheng Huaqing thought Huo Sining had changed her mind, but Huo Sining pointed to her work badge and smiled, explaining:

”I didn’t know this reservoir was requisitioned for the FLW competition before; I was dragged here by my teacher. Now, I’m an intern at the Maritime Bureau responsible for safety checks of this water fishing.”

Upon hearing this, Zheng Huaqing was taken aback but quickly smiled helplessly: ”That’s really a pity, I thought...”

Huo Sining knew what Zheng Huaqing was thinking, and with concern in her eyes, she asked: ”Has Director Zheng found a new substitute team member?”

Zheng Huaqing shook his head: ”I’d rather go without than compromise; my standards for selecting team members are relatively high, and finding someone suitable in such a short time is quite difficult.”

Then, Zheng Huaqing pointed to the four people behind him and said: ”This is my team; if you have time, you might want to keep an eye on us.”

Huo Sining nodded: ”Then I’ll wish Director Zheng great success and fulfillment in advance.”

Zheng Huaqing’s eyes were full of confusion; the previous determination and ambition for victory were nowhere to be found. He smiled bitterly and said:

”Hope it’s as Miss Huo said, but this year’s FLW opening competition is likely to be intense, whether we can win is really unknown, especially since we’re one person short.”

Huo Sining wanted to comfort him, but she didn’t know what to say and could only show an awkward smile.

Zheng Huaqing didn’t talk much with Huo Sining and soon returned to his team, said a few words to his companions, and then left.

Several other trainees, seeing Huo Sining knew that participant, became curious. Huo Sining explained briefly without saying much; seeing she didn’t want to talk about Zheng Huaqing, they shifted the topic.

Huo Sining thought she was just going to be a spectator for this competition, but she unexpectedly got pulled into the ’war’ in the end.

Over there, Zheng Huaqing and several team members disembarked from the boat, led by the staff of the organizers on a yacht, toured around the large reservoir.

Xingting Reservoir is located on the outer side of the Yangtze River embankment in the eastern Magic Capital, rectangular-shaped, covering an area of 1.35 million square meters. It is bordered by Xinchuan River mouth to the east and Baolian Lake to the west, being one of the main sources of water supply in Magic Capital.

Due to the reservoir’s immense size and excellent water quality, Xingting Reservoir’s fish resources are immensely rich. The bass not only grows large but also has delicious meat, attracting many anglers to fish here.

This time FLW was chosen to be held in Magic Capital after careful selection and several investigations. Competitors from around the world came to Magic Capital, saw the reservoir and surrounding scenery, impressed, especially praising the water quality.

Of course, the first thing team members did upon arriving at the reservoir was to examine the terrain to determine which areas were most suitable for fishing.

This is essential pre-competition work, as on the day of the competition, participants will not only instruct the yacht driver but also have sharp eyes to select the most suitable fishing spot.

Participants were received batch by batch, and Huo Sining hardly remembered these fishing competitors; she wasn’t interested in this field, so she didn’t take the effort to remember who these people were.

The day before the competition, Huo Sining and the trainees worked overtime until past five in the afternoon. The other trainees were exhausted and returned to school to rest; however, Huo Sining still had to hurry to celebrate Su Qingqing’s birthday.

After dining at a restaurant, Su Qingqing’s group of friends shouted to go to a bar. Huo Sining wanted to leave early, but couldn’t resist their urging and had to follow.

Inside the bar’s private room, the group started partying. Since the next day was the FLW competition, Huo Sining participated casually without really drinking.

However, Su Qingqing was drinking excessively. Wu Jun couldn’t spare time from matters in the Imperial Capital and didn’t return to Magic Capital this time, so she went wild with no one to control her.

Drunk, the girl decided to go to the restroom. Huo Sining offered to accompany her but was flatly refused by Su Qingqing.

Soon after stepping out, trouble occurred.

A reckless foreigner in the corridor happened to encounter the drunken Su Qingqing. Seeing her pretty and fashionably dressed, he immediately became lustful, thinking he could take advantage of a ”drunken beauty.”

But the unlucky foreigner didn’t know, Su Qingqing looked weak and delicate but was indeed a fierce woman.

So, just as the foreigner approached Su Qingqing, prepared to make a move and touch her, he was violently pinned to the ground by Su Qingqing.
