Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1699: Chapter 1603: FLW

After finishing their honeymoon, Huo Sining and Gu Xu were ready to return to their country, as were Zheng Huaqing and his daughter, so they coincidentally shared the same route.

On the way back, Zheng Huaqing seemed to suddenly remember something. He retrieved an email from his phone, looked at Huo Sining, and asked:

”Miss Huo, will you be very busy in the upcoming days? If not, could I invite you to join my team for an international fishing competition?”

Huo Sining was taken aback upon hearing this, then lowered her head to look at the email in Zheng Huaqing’s hand.

FLW World Outdoor Fishing Championship.

It was the first time Huo Sining had heard this name.

A look of confusion unintentionally appeared on her face.

Seeing Huo Sining like this, Zheng Huaqing realized she might not understand and hurriedly explained:

”The FLW World Outdoor Fishing Championship has been held in America for nearly ten years and is considered a highly popular sports event. Its importance is comparable to world automobile races.”

Curious, Huo Sining asked, ”How can fishing be competitive? Is it about who catches the most fish?”

Zheng Huaqing laughed, ”That’s one aspect. FLW specifically targets big bass fishing. The winner is whoever catches the most bass by total number within the allotted time. Moreover, it’s a thrilling competition with rewards. Each stage’s champion prize ranges from 100,000 to 200,000 US dollars, and if you become the overall champion, you can earn a major jackpot of 1 million US dollars.”

Huo Sining nodded and suddenly remembered Zheng Huaqing’s private yacht and his demonstrated fishing prowess back then. Estimating that this real estate mogul was fervently passionate about fishing, she couldn’t help but laugh, ”But I’m not a fishing enthusiast. Why would Director Zheng think of inviting me?”

Zheng Huaqing smiled wryly, ”In fact, I led my team to compete last year, but we returned with nothing to show for it.”

”This year, I was once again invited by the organizers. I hope to redeem myself in this event. Unfortunately, a key member of my team had a mishap and fell from a height, resulting in a shattered right arm that requires several months of recovery, forcing him to withdraw from this competition.”

”With one fewer potential champion, my team’s morale has become unstable. Many members are boosting others’ spirits while diminishing their own confidence, putting them in a poor state. So I must find a substitute to replace that key member.”

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining laughed immediately, ”So you came to me? But Director Zheng, I don’t know how to fish, let alone this FLW. I’m merely a complete outsider. Did you find the wrong person?”

Zheng Huaqing shook his head, ”Miss Huo, you don’t need to be modest. Back when I went sea fishing with Ouyang and your group, your performance was outstanding. Although I couldn’t grasp the exact trick, I’m certain you’re a master caster of the hidden arts, and deceptive to boot. A rival like you is the real ace to defeat those American veteran anglers!”

With a solemn expression, Zheng Huaqing left Huo Sining feeling dizzy; she wasn’t a master at all, but merely cheated using Spiritual Energy.

Feeling helpless, Huo Sining shook her head and said, ”Director Zheng, there’s no way I can explain this to you briefly, but I’m sorry, I cannot accept your offer. I’m genuinely not skilled in outdoor fishing. If you let me go, aren’t you setting me up just to watch me make a fool of myself?”

Huo Sining repeatedly waved her hands to refuse. Despite Zheng Huaqing’s repeated earnest persuasion, he couldn’t change her decision and had no choice but to give up in resignation.

Regardless, the look in Zheng Huaqing’s eyes clearly showed frustration and anxiety, evidence that Huo Sining’s rejection dealt him quite a blow.

Huo Sining didn’t particularly mind, since she truly wasn’t skilled at fishing, so she just listened and forgot about it thereafter.

After returning to the Imperial Capital, Huo Sining and Gu Xu parted ways with the Zheng Family Father and Daughter. They lingered for two days in the capital, after which Huo Sining hurried back to attend her classes. In her third year, the specialized courses increased, and she didn’t want her peers to criticize her for focusing more on leisure because of her affluence, thinking she was setting a bad example.

Upon her return, it naturally sparked considerable student chatter and attention. For the past month, media buzz had been dominated by the marriage between Gu Huo, with the media no sparing any praise, blessing and anticipating the union’s outcome.

Even if Huo Sining wished to keep a low profile, it was impossible. Now, she stood out uniquely in school, watched by a group of students like a monkey. Although feeling helpless internally, she had no choice but to compose herself, ignore the trivial matters, and focus earnestly.

Shortly after returning to the Magic Capital, Huo Sining received a school notice. A competition would take place at the Xingting Reservoir in the suburbs, and the Maritime Bureau offered four slots allowing four students to intern.

Gan Lijun held onto two of these slots, quick to benefit if connections paid off. Due to friendships with Qin Shaoyou and Xie Daoyuan, her rapport with Huo Sining was rather strong. Moreover, Huo Sining often gave her seafood, leaving Gan Lijun to first consider Huo Sining for selection.

Especially after Gan Lijun heard from Xie Daoyuan that Huo Sining was adept in water; previously in the suburban Magic Capital ancient tomb exploration, Huo Sining was the one who discovered it at the reservoir’s bottom through swimming.

Gan Lijun felt this slot must be given to Huo Sining, considering it perfectly tailored for her.

So shortly after returning to school, Huo Sining received a new assignment to intern for half a month at the Maritime Bureau.

Upon arriving at the Bureau, like the other three trainees, Huo Sining was puzzled, unclear about their purpose there.

An experienced staff member distributed several documents among them and began explaining the nature of the upcoming competition at Xingting Reservoir.

Hearing the staff’s detailed talk, Huo Sining felt both amused and helpless.

Despite rejecting Zheng Huaqing’s invitation, she unexpectedly couldn’t avoid the international fishing competition.

Indeed, the information from the Maritime Bureau was related to the FLW Outdoor Fishing Championship, planning and arrangements. The first phase of the competition was set right in the Xingting Reservoir of the Magic Capital!
