Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1688: Chapter 1682: Zheng Family Father and Daughter

The honeymoon in Venice lasted for a month, during which the International Film Festival took place on Lido Island. Many movie stars, famous filmmakers, and reporters from around the world came to participate, with its charm rivaling that of the Hollywood Oscars.

Huo Sining had never seen such a scene before, so upon hearing about the film festival, she became very interested.

As a husband devoted to his wife, Gu Xu naturally had to unconditionally fulfill his wife’s request. He inquired around the domestic entertainment circle and eventually got his hands on two tickets to the award ceremony. Then he brought his wife eagerly to Lido Island.

Since the award ceremony was in the evening and they arrived early, Huo Sining and Gu Xu decided to find a place to have lunch first. However, they unexpectedly ran into someone familiar upon entering a restaurant.

”Mr. Gu, Miss Huo, what are you doing here?” A surprised voice came from the side.

Gu Xu and Huo Sining stopped in their tracks and looked in the direction the voice came from.

Sitting in a booth in the restaurant was a man, none other than Zheng Huaqing, who had previously taken Huo Sining and a group of people sea fishing when they were in the Magic Capital.

On one occasion, the Oriental Pearl encountered a storm at sea, and Huo Sining happened to be in the sea gathering seafood. She conveniently rescued a group of passengers who encountered the maritime disaster, among whom was Zheng Huaqing.

In Huo Sining’s memories from her past life, Zheng Huaqing was supposed to have died because of this maritime disaster, and his Yulong Real Estate was quickly divided among other real estate groups, as it was leaderless.

However, because of the butterfly effect after Huo Sining’s rebirth, Yulong Real Estate not only did not decline but instead grew bigger and stronger.

After that, Huo Sining and Gu Xu rarely had contact with him, because Zheng Huaqing was a friend of Ouyang Jun, having little to do with Huo Sining and Gu Xu, so they didn’t have much interaction.

Unexpectedly encountering an acquaintance here, Zheng Huaqing was obviously very happy. Remembering the grand wedding ceremony recently making waves domestically, he immediately understood: ”Are you two here for your honeymoon in Venice?”

Huo Sining and Gu Xu nodded, without any intention of hiding, looking at Zheng Huaqing with a smile: ”We’re just here to see the excitement.”

While inviting the two to sit down, Zheng Huaqing also laughed and asked, ”If you two don’t mind, how about joining me for the meal?”

Huo Sining and Gu Xu looked around the restaurant; because of the film festival, the place was exceptionally busy. There were no private rooms available, not even any unoccupied booths. They had just circled the dining hall but couldn’t find anywhere to sit. Now, hearing Zheng Huaqing’s suggestion, they exchanged a glance and sat down accordingly.

After sitting down, Huo Sining curiously looked at Zheng Huaqing: ”It’s been a while, Mr. Zheng. Are you in Venice for a vacation?”

Zheng Huaqing shook his head: ”No, I’m here to attend the Venice Film Festival.”

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining was stunned for a moment and exchanged a glance with Gu Xu: ”Isn’t Director Zheng in real estate? Why the change?”

Zheng Huaqing displayed a slight smile: ”It’s not a shift in career, just pure investment. My daughter studied directing, and even before graduating, she wanted to make a film. After graduating, she insisted on opening a film company.”

”Initially, I disagreed, but she persisted daily. I still said no because I felt it was just burning money. Then last year, I had an incident at sea and nearly lost my life. After being rescued, I had an epiphany: earning all this money is just for the family, to make them happy. Whether it’s burning money or not, why worry so much? Money is an external thing, you can’t take it with you when you die, so why not let the kids do what they love.”

”So I invested a sum for her to start a film company—consider it a kind of experiment. This year, she had an artsy film shot, and it’s being sent here for the festival. I’m accompanying her.”

As Zheng Huaqing explained, a girl approached just then, and he gestured to her. Huo Sining turned to see a tall girl walking over energetically, evidently taken aback by the presence of others at the booth.

After the girl sat down, Zheng Huaqing cheerfully introduced her: ”These are Mr. Gu Xu and Miss Huo Sining, we once went sea fishing together, and happened to meet here. Both of them are successful people back home, despite their young age, each runs a big company, and they’ve got plenty of business insight. If you have any questions, just ask them.”

Saying this, Zheng Huaqing then introduced his daughter with indulgence to Huo Sining and Gu Xu: ”This is my insolent daughter, Zheng Lixiang.”

Zheng Lixiang looked about the same age as Bai Yishan, yet her demeanor had a certain commanding and domineering spirit, clearly someone used to directing and controlling. There were hints of Song Chaoying’s aura, but more flamboyant.

Upon hearing Zheng Huaqing introduce Gu Xu and Huo Sining by name, Zheng Lixiang’s eyes lit up, especially when gazing at Huo Sining, staring intently as if she wanted to see a flower on Huo Sining’s face.

Feeling somewhat uncomfortable under Zheng Lixiang’s gaze, Huo Sining couldn’t help but touch her face and awkwardly asked: ”Is there something on my face?”

Realizing her own impropriety, Zheng Lixiang hurriedly extended her hand and said to Huo Sining: ”Hello, Miss Huo. I’ve seen your magic performances on TV, really impressive, especially The Mermaid Princess’s Tribute on Spring Festival Gala left a strong impression.”

”Miss Zheng, you’re too kind.”

Unsure of the reason for Zheng Lixiang’s sudden warmth, but given that she was Zheng Huaqing’s daughter and with Zheng Huaqing present, Huo Sining chose not to be impolite and symbolically extended her hand to shake Zheng Lixiang’s, before quickly withdrawing.

No wonder Huo Sining was puzzled; truly, Zheng Lixiang’s gaze was too direct and obvious, creating an odd feeling.

This was their first meeting; if she were a typical woman, wouldn’t her initial focus naturally be the handsome Gu Xu beside her? However, this woman practically ignored Gu Xu and instead, her gaze scorched Huo Sining, which was too curious.

Feeling perplexed inside, Huo Sining couldn’t help wondering if Zheng Huaqing’s daughter might have some sort of special orientation; otherwise, why was she intensely staring at her?
