Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1693: Chapter 1687: Breaking the Deadlock

Of course, for the other big names in this field, such an award might be optional, but for Zheng Lixiang, it is a form of recognition and affirmation.

She has just started her career as a director and desperately needs an award for affirmation. The Venice Film Festival is such a platform. If she could take home an international award, even a consolation prize, it would cause quite a stir back home.

This is the charm of the Venice Film Festival. In China, there are countless awards like the Golden Horse and Golden Eagle awards, but their prestige is somewhat lacking. Once it elevates to an international level, it’s like being gilded, and the domestic audience is more willing to buy it.

Zheng Lixiang regarded this as a bottleneck or a hurdle. Crossing it would mean a breakthrough, entering a new world, and by then her level would be different, so she places great importance on this award.

Huo Sining also understood Zheng Lixiang’s thoughts. Besides, she had already agreed to star in Zheng Lixiang’s upcoming commercial film ”The Legend of the Mermaid.” If Zheng Lixiang were to be ruined by this conspiracy and never recover, then there was no way Huo Sining could shoot that movie.

If Huo Sining wasn’t interested in that movie, it wouldn’t matter, as she wasn’t very familiar with Zheng Lixiang and had no reason to be so enthusiastic; however, now she was indeed interested in the film, and since it’s obvious that Zheng Lixiang was being framed, Huo Sining couldn’t possibly just stand by and watch, letting things develop unchecked.

The woman sitting over there, Huo Sining didn’t know her Chinese name, but she heard another staff member in the control room address her as Yujiali, which should be her Italian name.

This Yujiali didn’t know that there was a shadow following her all along. After fiddling with her phone for a while, she heard new instructions from the command post and then loaded several more sample videos into a playback software.

Watching from behind, Huo Sining saw everything clearly. After only seeing it once, she grasped the key to the work and made up her mind. After checking the time, she was ready to take action.

After the Best Director award, it was the Horizon section award next, with the first award being the European Art Exchange Award, for which Zheng Lixiang’s film ”Kite Angel” was nominated.

At this moment, Huo Sining acted quickly. First, she dealt with the staff member beside Yujiali, putting him into the Space. Then, taking advantage of Yujiali’s lack of awareness, she swiftly did the same to this woman.

After doing all this, Huo Sining closed the control room door, then sat down in Yujiali’s seat and began to operate.

Another instruction came from the main station. It was in English, but Huo Sining could understand it. Following the instructions, she followed Yujiali’s previous operations, first taking out the USB drive given to her by Zheng Lixiang at the venue, plugging it into the computer, calling up the samples it contained, and replacing the one that Yujiali had originally placed in the computer with the ”Kite Angel” sample from Zheng Lixiang.

After finishing these tasks, Huo Sining then unhurriedly imported all six samples of the first group of the Horizon section award into the player.

Soon, the big screen over there began playing the films simultaneously.

Confirming that everything was progressing smoothly and no mistakes had occurred, Huo Sining let out a slight sigh of relief.

The stone in her heart finally settled, and her palms were almost sweating from nervousness.

In the Horizon section award, Zheng Lixiang’s ”Kite Angel” received two nominations, so it wasn’t until the sample from the second nomination was played that Huo Sining released Yujiali and the staff member.

During this process, Huo Sining quickly removed the USB drive and also copied the tampered ”Kite Angel” sample from Yujiali onto Zheng Lixiang’s USB drive, then completely deleted the one left on the computer.

Upon hearing the host on the award stage loudly announce that the special award of the Horizon section in this edition went to Zheng Lixiang’s ”Kite Angel,” Huo Sining finally relaxed completely, reopened the door, released the two completely clueless people, and quietly slipped away, returning to the venue.

With an excited expression, Zheng Lixiang stood up from her seat, hugged Zheng Huaqing and other team members, and happened to see Huo Sining returning from there, even playfully winking at her.

Touched by an instant thought, Zheng Lixiang guessed that it might have been thanks to Huo Sining’s assistance, but at this moment, she couldn’t find time for questioning and had to go up on stage to accept her award first.

So she gestured to Huo Sining, offered an apologetic smile, and elegantly walked towards the stage.

Huo Sining didn’t mind, understandingly made a gesture, but her gaze turned towards Li Youyou.

At this moment, Li Youyou’s face was completely twisted, looking at Zheng Lixiang on stage with eyes full of venom and anger, filled with disbelief and resentment.

Though at such a distance, Huo Sining could still guess what Li Youyou was thinking at the moment.

The plan was perfect: simply switch the sample video, and once it was showcased on the big screen, Zheng Lixiang would plummet from her high point to the depths, causing the entire venue to climax over the scandal and disgrace the country. Zheng Lixiang would be notorious domestically, with no chance of recovery.

However, such a thorough plan inexplicably failed to materialize, leaving Li Youyou utterly perplexed.

The plan was detailed, and Yujiali had agreed. Money had been transferred to that woman, so why was there not a shadow of action, and she did nothing, allowing this woman to stand proudly on the stage? What happened?

The smile on Zheng Lixiang’s face on stage was glaring in Li Youyou’s eyes.

Li Youyou knew very well that she was here to walk the red carpet, and getting the film festival invitation was thanks to Yujiali’s help.

But she couldn’t fathom how Zheng Lixiang, with a seemingly insignificant and inexplicable film, managed to actually win an international award!

This felt like a slap to Li Youyou’s face, as she had initially been picky, dismissing Zheng Lixiang’s movie, behaving like a diva on set, and causing Zheng Lixiang to dislike her, ultimately leading to her being replaced as the female lead.

If she had persevered and followed the crew’s arrangement, maybe she too would have shared in the glory, basking in the limelight of the Venice Film Festival’s international award.

Seeing the golden trophy raised in Zheng Lixiang’s hand, Li Youyou felt nothing but irony, her entire being boiling with anger and resentment.
