Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1665: Chapter 1649: Setting Up Obstacles

Huo Sining had no idea that at this moment, she was already envied by someone. On this day, she recorded three episodes about the Shang Dynasty in the recording studio.

The progress was very smooth. He Guolin personally came over to discuss continued recording with Huo Sining, hoping to use the spare time the studio had left for Channel Ten to quickly complete the recording of the previous sessions.

Huo Sining was more than willing to do so. She was already short on time and was eager to finish recording this new program as soon as possible.

Originally from the countryside, she didn’t mind enduring some hardship, so she readily agreed to He Guolin’s request.

Early the next morning, Huo Sining arrived at the CCTV Building early. Because she was late the previous day, the studio was occupied by others. Even though it wasn’t intentional on her part, she was partly responsible and didn’t want to make the same mistake twice.

However, after getting her makeup done in the studio, the expected recording did not start as scheduled.

After yesterday’s recording, Huo Sining’s new program became famous within the station. Many of the staff’s family members came to watch, acting as the audience, saving the production team the trouble of paying guests.

When Huo Sining entered the studio, she noticed many audience members already seated, waiting for the recording to begin. But she also saw that Producer Li and Director Xiao Ma were absent from the studio, and the other staff members looked anxious, which puzzled her. She immediately asked her assistant, Xu Wei:

”Wei, what happened? Why aren’t Producer Li and Director Xiao Ma here?”

Xu Wei looked equally confused, shaking her head, indicating she didn’t know what had occurred.

Just then, Xiao Ma walked in with a grim expression. Seeing that Huo Sining was ready, he hesitated for a moment, then walked over with some embarrassment and said:

”Miss Huo, I’m really sorry, the recording may be delayed. There’s a problem with the props, and we can’t record right now.”

Having interacted with Xiao Ma the previous day, Huo Sining was already familiar with him. Despite being young, he had a good temper and always smiled. He was diligent and organized, and even if an ordinary staff member made a mistake, he would at most offer a few words of criticism. He was normally very cheerful, so it was the first time Huo Sining saw him with such an expression.

This made Huo Sining feel something was amiss, and she couldn’t help but ask, ”What’s wrong with the props? Why is the recording delayed?”

Xiao Ma hesitated for a moment before speaking: ”The antiques we rented from the Yu Province Museum were supposed to be delivered overnight. But for some reason, the museum suddenly withdrew their agreement and said the items couldn’t be lent out. Director He personally called them, but they kept making excuses. We can’t be too forceful, but without these props, we can’t record the next segment. We’ll have to find another way.”

Hearing this, Xu Wei’s face changed as if she remembered something but held back from speaking because of the other staff present. Her expression of indignation did not escape Huo Sining’s notice, prompting her to ask: ”Wei, what were you going to say?”

Xu Wei glanced around and then leaned close to Huo Sining and Xiao Ma, whispering:

”I remembered that Director Ke Zhenyue was initially assigned to this program because he’s from Yu Province. His uncle is the Deputy Director of the Yu Province Museum. Many of our props are secured through his connections with the museum.”

”But now that Director Ke has been replaced by Director He, the sudden withdrawal from lending the items could be deliberate.”

Huo Sining was taken aback and instinctively looked at Xu Wei: ”You mean, Director Ke Zhenyue might have said something to his uncle, leading the museum to sabotage our shooting schedule?”

Xu Wei’s expression changed, quickly denying: ”I didn’t say that. Only Director He knows the situation best. I was just speculating.”

Though only a guess, Xu Wei’s subtle expression suggested she might know more. Xiao Ma’s complex expression revealed it was the first he’d heard of this, and his eyes showed internal conflict.

After a brief silence, Xiao Ma forced a bitter smile and said:

”It’s okay, Miss Huo, this is how things are at the station—complicated. If it doesn’t work out, I’ll apply to bring Director Ke back. My appointment is temporary anyway.”

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining frowned. The program became what it was with her changes, and she was unwilling to let that Director Ke take the credit.

When the show airs, the director will undoubtedly gain great fame and fortune. Huo Sining would rather let Xiao Ma have that than see Ke Zhenyue take advantage!

Simply because she disliked Ke Zhenyue.

Such people only know how to pressure others with power, exploit connections, and resort to schemes, putting all their concerns into production. Huo Sining detested working with them; she’d rather walk away.

”Director Ma, have the logistics list all the props needed next, including for today’s recording. I need to see that list immediately!”

Inspired by the thought of the artifacts she left in the Forbidden City’s warehouse, she said to Director Xiao Ma.

Xiao Ma hesitated, unclear of her intention: ”Why do you need that?”

”Just get it, don’t waste time standing around!” Huo Sining urged.

Director Xiao Ma nodded and, like a subordinate, hurried to find the logistics team. He quickly returned with them carrying a document, looking puzzled as he handed it to Huo Sining:

”Miss Huo, this is the list you requested, detailing the antiques needed for the upcoming recordings.”
