Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1661: Chapter 1645: The Waters Run Deep

This important program, they actually want to hand it over entirely to a rookie like her. This made Huo Sining not very impressed with Director He Guolin.

However, she had no authority to speak on matters of the TV station. If she said anything else that made Director He think too much, Huo Sining would be at her wits’ end.

So, Huo Sining simply kept her mouth shut to avoid saying anything wrong and causing more misunderstandings.

After hanging up, seeing Huo Sining looking a bit awkward, Han Wen couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong? What did Director He say?”

Huo Sining recounted Director He’s words and also talked about how her words were misunderstood by him.

Huo Sining looked conflicted, but Han Wen couldn’t help but laugh:

“It seems like the circle of people you usually associate with is too simple. In our line of work, it’s almost like politics; you can’t just take what you hear at face value. When the boss says something, you absolutely can’t think too simply. You need to think deeper and overinterpret a few times to really understand what the higher-ups mean.”

“Director He probably has long been used to hearing people talk like this. Encountering someone as straightforward as you all of a sudden—how could he possibly adapt? He probably thought you were subtly asking for power and didn’t want anyone else involved.”

Huo Sining couldn’t help but protest loudly, “I swear, I didn’t mean that! I just hope he doesn’t single me out, making it awkward for me with the production team. I can’t even get along well with others!”

Han Wen laughed, “Those who know you certainly wouldn’t misunderstand like that, but Director He doesn’t even know you. He should know your background; otherwise, he wouldn’t be so cautious. It’s precisely because of that, he’s afraid of offending you, so he’s overthinking it.”

Huo Sining shook her head, looking quite troubled, “I used to think your TV industry was great—good money, high status, glamorous, and quite powerful. But now, I realize I was naive. Working in your field is so mentally taxing, much harder than treasure appraisal. If I had to scheme with people every day, I might go crazy.”

Han Wen, who had experienced it too, nodded, “That’s just how it is, different trades have different tricks. This industry is indeed complicated, but once you’re in, you have to adapt to its survival rules.”

Then, Han Wen paused and smiled, “But anyway, the issue is resolved, and Director He is quite efficient. He’s swift and decisive; no wonder Ke Zhenyue looked so furious just now. Turns out his director position was snatched.”

Huo Sining hesitated, as she was used to leaving some room for maneuver, not wanting to push too hard. This approach made her uneasy, “Isn’t this too much…”

Han Wen was dismissive:

“People like that need a lesson to feel the pain! Ke Zhenyue’s character is problematic, narrow-minded and vengeful. It’s deserved that he was dismissed! If we played it down, let it slide, and you had to continue working with him, who knows what trouble might eventually erupt.”

Han Wen was indignant yet made a point, and the more Huo Sining thought about it, the more she agreed.

As a guest host, she didn’t fawn over Ke Zhenyue, didn’t give him any perks, and even bypassed him for the naming rights directly with the crew, essentially sidelining him and costing him a lot of money. This grudge wasn’t something Ke Zhenyue would easily let go of, and if he continued as the chief director, she couldn’t predict what he’d pull next.

Thinking this, Huo Sining didn’t feel the need for sympathy. This wasn’t initiated by her; she hadn’t played any tricks. It was all Ke Zhenyue’s doing, so she felt no guilt in this matter.

Han Wen was initially quite steamed, but seeing the matter resolved quickly and cleanly, she felt significantly relieved and immediately picked up the phone to call the headquarters:

“Old Zhao, what’s going on there? Didn’t we agree that Tentative Studio was scheduled for recording today? How did someone else take it? Which station doesn’t follow rules? Hurry up and remove them. Tentative Studio’s program is urgent; many leaders highly emphasize it. At this critical point, your headquarters shouldn’t be so reckless and hold us back!”

On the other end, after saying something, Han Wen impatiently replied:

“Enough, I won’t buy that. Just have them leave, and if they’re not happy, let them argue with the station director. I’m telling you, Tentative Studio’s program this time has even been reviewed by Chief Qin Lianshan himself, and the Publicity Department is very concerned. If the program isn’t recorded in time and problems arise, don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

The other side seemed doubtful after hearing this, and Han Wen sneered, “Is it true? Find out for yourself. I’m only asking for the studio; the rest is up to you. If I don’t hear back in five minutes, I’m washing my hands of it.”

After hanging up, Han Wen looked quite pleased and said to Huo Sining, “Let’s go back and record the program.”

Huo Sining looked surprised, “Wasn’t the studio taken? They’ve agreed to give it back?”

Han Wen laughed, “They wouldn’t dare not to. Tentative Studio at CCTV really doesn’t have much clout, being documentaries and educational films with low ratings. That’s why they’re often bullied in the station, but with you involved, they wouldn’t dare be reckless.”

Huo Sining broke into a sweat, “My status isn’t that useful, is it? I don’t even have much contact with the TV industry.”

Han Wen looked at Huo Sining like she was clueless, “Are you really that naive or just pretending? CCTV is directly tied to the government. You’re part of the Gu Family and on top of that, Chief Lu’s…with your status, who would dare offend you? I didn’t even mention it; if I had, forget about the current studio. They’d probably clear the entire Walk of Fame studio for you.”

Huo Sining shook her head, “This isn’t about my own strength. If I have to rely on the Gu Family and Lu Family’s status, I’d rather not. I don’t want to flaunt that identity.”
