Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1656: Chapter 1640: Picking a Fight

”It’s actually her? I’ve seen her on TV before, but in person, she’s really that beautiful. But isn’t she just a magician, why did you say nobody messes with her? What’s the reason for that?”

”Hey, that has to do with this woman’s family background. I’ve heard that even though she is still in college, she owns several companies and has shares in some research institutes. It’s said she’s worth quite a bit.”

”And this woman, though she seems unassuming, is a big shot in the appraisal circle. She even led a team to New York to participate in an international treasure appraisal conference and brought back a major award.”

”I heard from an old-timer at the TV station recently, they mentioned that this Huo Sining is some big official’s granddaughter. Otherwise, why do you think an ordinary person could just get on the Spring Festival Gala with a magic act?”

Gossip is everyone’s instinct, and upon hearing someone who seemed to know some inside information about the mysterious identity of the woman named Huo Sining, the people nearby immediately became interested.

”So this Miss Magic is really amazing, she’s even an official’s descendant.”

”Exactly, last year during the Spring Festival Gala, I heard Director Han Wen called Chief Lu and a few other old red cadre members to invite them to watch the gala live, but those old heads declined bluntly. But guess what happened next, just because Huo Sining was going to perform at the gala, those old fellows changed their minds and attended the gala.”

”Ah, now that you mention it, I seem to remember that. At the time, the gala gave several close-ups to the chief’s table. I thought those old cadres watched the gala every year, like a tradition.”

”What tradition? Usually, those old guys are too impatient to watch these things, preferring to spend the New Year at home with their juniors. We initially thought Han Wen was particularly capable, but later found out it was for Huo Sining’s sake that they came. Right after Huo Sining finished her magic act, the old folks all left.”

”That’s too exaggerated, isn’t it? Who exactly is this Huo Sining that she has such influence? I’ve never heard of any chief with the surname Huo in the Imperial Capital.”

”That’s beyond our guessing, but clearly, this woman has a good relationship with those old men. Such a person is unfathomable, who dares to provoke her easily?”

Everyone around nodded in agreement, though some felt puzzled:

”Since Miss Huo isn’t one of our TV people, why is she here? I think that’s the studio allocated for channel ten, is she going to perform magic for channel ten?”

Others found it strange too, but nobody knew what was going on.

At this moment, Sister Hu, who was in charge of doing makeup for Huo Sining from backstage, hurried over, seemingly ready to enter the channel ten studio to prepare for any makeup touch-ups for Huo Sining. But as soon as she entered the hall, several staff stopped her.

”Hey, hey, hey, Sister Hu, don’t rush off yet. We want to ask you something. Just now, was it Miss Magic, Huo Sining, who entered your channel ten studio?”

Sister Hu looked puzzled at them, all old acquaintances, some were colleagues she’s worked with before, so she couldn’t just say nothing. She nodded and said, ”Yes, but why are you asking this?”

The few people laughed playfully, ”We’re just curious, isn’t your channel ten focused on educational documentaries? How come you invited that girl over, are you preparing to shoot a magic reveal documentary?”

Sister Hu quickly realized they were digging for information. She rolled her eyes and said with a smile:

”It’s not exactly secret. You’ll find out sooner or later. Our station is preparing a new program, not about revealing magic tricks, but about promoting Huaxia civilization. Miss Huo has considerable research on antiques, and is naturally familiar with Huaxia history, so we’ve invited her to lead it.”

Hearing this information, the few people appeared thoughtful.

Sister Hu couldn’t reveal much more, as the program was still in the recording phase. Details couldn’t be disclosed yet. Looking at the time, she smiled, ”I’m quite busy, so I won’t chat with you all.”

With that, Sister Hu turned and headed towards the studio.

Over there, Huo Sining had entered the recording studio already. Previously, she had been watched by so many eyes in the hall, and along the way received a fair share of attention. But since she had participated in numerous competitions, she remained calm and didn’t show much expression.

On the other hand, Xu Wei was filled with excitement, ”Miss Huo, you look really stunning. You see, those staff members were all dumbfounded!”

Huo Sining glanced at the noisy girl beside her, wanting to tell her not to speak so loudly, or it’d be embarrassing if others heard.

Once inside the recording studio, the noisy sound was finally cut off, and Huo Sining breathed a slight sigh of relief.

This recording studio was actually a modestly sized room less than a hundred square meters. It seemed to have been temporarily remodeled, but the equipment looked very new and the stage design grand. Channel ten seemed to take this program seriously.

However, upon entering, Huo Sining immediately noticed a somewhat portly middle-aged man with a dark face, looking around the stage.

Seeing Xu Wei bringing Huo Sining in, the middle-aged man quickly greeted them, his face mixing urgency with anger.

”You’re Huo Sining, right? Why are you so late? We applied for this studio from the station for a long time; now the exhibition hall was taken because you didn’t show up. We have to wait another two hours to record!”

The middle-aged man, immediately upon speaking, unleashed a torrent of reprimands at Huo Sining.

Huo Sining frowned, while Xu Wei, seeing the middle-aged man appearing unfriendly, hurriedly explained: ”Director Ke, Miss Huo didn’t waste a single minute and rushed over from home as fast as she could. It’s not her fault; it was the short notice from us.”

This director, named Ke Zhenyue, was the chief director of the new channel ten program. He’s been with CCTV channel ten for over a decade, partaking in many classic CCTV productions as a producer and assistant director. He’s considered an old employee at CCTV.

As the saying goes, lengthy service ultimately pays off in the entertainment industry, whether you’re a celebrity or behind the scenes. It all comes down to building experience. Ke Zhenyue, after years of working, finally achieved recognition, appointed by the vice president as the chief director for the new program.
