Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1690: Chapter 1684: Personal Grudge

Zheng Huaqing and his daughter were also here for the film festival, but aside from them, the screenwriter, lead actors, and producers from their crew were also present.

However, those people were arranged to stay at the hotel and only came over to meet Zheng Huaqing and his daughter shortly before the awards ceremony was about to begin.

Upon learning that Huo Sining and Gu Xu also got entrance tickets to the awards ceremony, Zheng Huaqing and his daughter naturally invited them to join them.

After some hesitation, Huo Sining and Gu Xu agreed, so the group entered the awards ceremony venue together.

Zheng Lixiang’s crew was relatively new, and the lead actors were not very famous domestically, even less so internationally. So when they walked the red carpet, they didn’t attract much attention at all.

Huo Sining and Gu Xu mingled among this group, both wearing sunglasses, which made them even less noticeable. Once inside the venue, nobody recognized them as special.

Just after entering the venue, Zheng Lixiang’s group bumped into another group of people, who were also Huaxia people, clearly there for the Venice Film Festival. However, upon encountering Zheng Lixiang, the leader of that group couldn’t help but sneer in a strangely sarcastic voice:

”Oh, so you’re the festival’s guests too? Who are the judges this year, how did their aesthetic sense drop so much, are they deliberately lowering standards, or have they been bribed? The threshold of the Venice Film Festival can’t be this low, how did any random cat or dog’s film pass the review?”

The speaker was a woman, quite pretty, and Huo Sining thought she seemed familiar but couldn’t recall her name. It was evident her words were aimed at Zheng Lixiang, clearly ridiculing her work as unworthy of the Venice Film Festival.

Sure enough, Zheng Lixiang’s face darkened as her voice fell. She looked up and sneered: ”Star Li’s tone seems to suggest you’re aiming for the Venice Best Actress this year. No wonder you can’t see eye-to-eye with our insignificant company producing small-time works.”

The woman detected the sarcasm in Zheng Lixiang’s tone, her face instantly changed. The woman behind her, resembling an assistant, quickly tugged her and said: ”Sister Youyou, less talk, lest mistakes be made. Let’s head inside!”

Upon hearing this, the woman’s expression stiffened, as if recalling something. She glanced around cautiously and then cast a scornful, chilly look at Zheng Lixiang, sniffed coldly, and said: ”Let’s go, don’t let them dirty my eyes with talk!”

After speaking, the group strutted ahead of Zheng Lixiang.

After the reminder from that assistant, Huo Sining suddenly remembered that the woman named Li Youyou was the lead actress in a recently popular drama about the Crown Princess of Donggong.

Because of this drama, Li Youyou’s domestic popularity soared recently, she was packaged as the image of a pure jade girl, adjectives like kind, naive, upwardly motivated were often used in media press releases, which Huo Sining had seen several times.

Unexpectedly, this actress was actually like this. Even though Huo Sining hadn’t interacted with her, based solely on those words just now, he mentally crossed this actress off his list.

After the group left, Zheng Huaqing couldn’t help himself. Earlier he hadn’t spoken up because his self-restraint wouldn’t allow him to argue with a woman, but seeing his daughter bullied by a stranger, he still felt upset:

”Who is this person that’s so harsh and rude, do you have a grudge against her?”

Zheng Huaqing looked steadily at his daughter, who hadn’t planned to explain. Having been in the entertainment circle long enough, she wasn’t surprised by such matters, but faced with Zheng Huaqing’s earnest gaze, Zheng Lixiang couldn’t brush it off. She sighed and explained:

”Well, we just have a minor disagreement.”

Zheng Lixiang shrugged and explained: ”Before filming started, the crew searched for several actresses for auditions. Li Youyou was also within my consideration, but her audition results didn’t satisfy me. Neither her acting nor temperament fit my female lead’s settings, plus she was unwilling to play the ugly role.”

”Considering all these reasons, I replaced her with the current lead Yang Xiao. But because of this, Li Youyou thoroughly hates me, especially after she shot up in popularity with a TV drama, she became even more arrogant, publicly defaming me in various media releases, casting herself as a victim.”

”Those mindless fans are clueless, became her tools, and bashed our film everywhere online, it’s just utterly ridiculous. I can’t be bothered to say more, people like her have terrible character. Anyway, you live and learn, I’ll never cooperate with someone like that again.”

Zheng Huaqing always assumed with his protection, his daughter could thrive in the entertainment industry without grievances. Unexpectedly, there were so many messy things involved. This realization upset him a bit, made him almost want to advise her to give up. But seeing his daughter’s resolute gaze, he couldn’t bring himself to speak.

His daughter had loved taking photos and filming since young, later insisted on applying to the directing department at college, despite his objections, determined to make a name for herself in the entertainment industry.

This was his daughter’s lifelong dream and she never mentioned these matters to him, even now she appeared indifferent, clearly to avoid worrying him.

Zheng Huaqing felt a bit sour inside, but under these circumstances, he knew he shouldn’t quench her spirit, his daughter bore grievances without mentioning them, it’s exactly why he can’t hold her back.

”These kinds of people are everywhere, you shouldn’t mind too much. If next time you encounter such people again and you can’t handle it, tell Dad, and I’ll help you resolve it. Don’t face it alone. Dad’s here just to tidy up your messes!”

Zheng Huaqing smiled at his daughter.

Zheng Lixiang was stunned, then her eyes reddened, and she nodded heavily.
