Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1670: Chapter 1654: Thorough Investigation

”Xiao Ma, have the staff at the headquarters investigate this matter. We must get to the bottom of it, and we must give Miss Huo a satisfactory answer!”

He Guolin’s face turned completely somber. If the incident involved just an ordinary host at the station, he might have swept it under the rug and thought of a way to cover it up with some money.

But now that this incident happened to Huo Sining, even if He Guolin were foolish, he would know that this matter absolutely cannot be brushed off so easily. Given Huo Sining’s status, if this matter isn’t thoroughly investigated and a proper explanation isn’t provided to her, she might just turn the television station upside down.

He Guolin understood that it was not the time to cover for the mastermind behind the scenes, so when he spoke these words to Xiao Ma, his expression was very solemn and assertive.

The staff on the floor remained silent, and Xiao Ma had already quickly run out to find someone.

Huo Sining’s expression was indifferent, but inwardly she was sneering.

Since arriving at the television station to record the program yesterday, she had not interacted with many CCTV staff, and in this process, apart from Ke Zhenyue, she really couldn’t think of anyone else she might have offended.

Yesterday, when Ke Zhenyue shot himself in the foot and was dismissed by Director He, it wasn’t Huo Sining who intervened, but she knew in her heart that Ke Zhenyue would definitely hold her responsible for it.

Later, Ke Zhenyue would resort to tricks, directly interfering with the Yu Province Museum, causing the museum to refuse to lend artifacts to the program team.

Perhaps he wanted to use this method to force Director He to relent and reappoint him as the general director of the program.

But little did he expect that this well-crafted setup would be disrupted by Huo Sining once again.

Huo Sining was willing to lend a batch of artifacts to the program team for free, which directly solved the urgent need of the program team, yet rendered Ke Zhenyue’s threats powerless. He thought he could use this to blackmail Director He, but he didn’t anticipate that it would ultimately become a joke.

With all this, Huo Sining had reason to suspect that it was likely Ke Zhenyue who was the one taking malicious actions behind the scenes!

Regarding Ke Zhenyue’s behavior, Huo Sining was filled with indignation.

She was merely responding to moves as they came; everything started with Ke Zhenyue’s provocations, and she just found ways to address them. Yet, she did not expect that when one plan failed, he would think of such a malevolent scheme.

If the beam had really hit someone, never mind that she had the Water-Repelling Pearl for protection, she might have lost half her life. If it had been some ordinary woman instead, she might have perished at the recording site.

Huo Sining was furious at heart and definitely had to teach this Ke a lesson; she could not let him get away with it!

Outside the studio, the audience felt that something was amiss; someone quietly leaked on Weibo that something big happened at CCTV, that a guest host was nearly hit by a falling chandelier beam at the recording site.

Once this news came out, it immediately caused a minor sensation on Weibo, with many people asking what the situation was, who the host guest was, what program it was, and so on.

The media have sharp noses; under such circumstances, reporters, like cats smelling fish, got the news at the first moment. Within a few minutes, reporters had stealthily made their way into the CCTV Building, starting to secretly investigate what exactly happened.

Very quickly, reports were freshly published and directly pushed to the front pages of major websites.

— Breaking: Miss Magic’s cross-border hosting, a brush with death on the recording site!

— CCTV encounters big trouble, recording studio chandelier falls, leaving the host’s life hanging by a thread!

— Shocking accident, chandelier crash at CCTV recording venue, destroying the show’s expensive props!

— Genuine artifacts rented for filming, smashed during recording!

...

A series of news headlines attracted countless netizens’ attention and heated discussion online.

”My goodness, I heard something big happened during the recording of the program on CCTV’s Channel 10, you know Miss Magic Huo Sining, right? CCTV invited her to record some kind of Huaxia cultural lecture program, and during the recording, a chandelier fell from the top, nearly killing someone!”

”What? Such a thing happened? Can’t CCTV be more careful? How could a chandelier fall from the ceiling for no reason? They usually check these things repeatedly during recordings, right? How could it suddenly fall off, doesn’t make sense?”

”Who knows what happened, anyway, it just fell in front of many audience members, and reportedly, it didn’t hit anyone, but shattered some kind of Longliang Primitive Celadon on the scene, which was lent to CCTV free of charge by Huo Sining herself, and it’s said to be quite valuable.”

”That’s so unlucky, whether it hit someone or something, the one losing out is Huo Sining!”

”Oh my, Longliang Primitive Celadon, I just checked, it’s the progenitor of celadon, from the Warring States period, such a valuable item got smashed just like that, how will CCTV compensate for this?”

”The chandelier was hung on the ceiling by wire stunt equipment, right? People in filming should know that wire is rarely broken; Huo Sining couldn’t possibly be so unlucky that the chandelier fell right at her position?”

”The one above, are you suggesting that this incident wasn’t an accident but man-made?”

”Who knows? Anyway, if someone really tampered with it, it’s likely because Huo Sining blocked someone’s path.”

”That new program, I heard Huo Sining funded herself into it, not sure what exactly happened, but it’s not impossible that it blocked someone else’s way.”

”Probably some program host also wanted to do this program but didn’t expect Huo Sining to snatch the spot, so they played some dirty trick behind the scenes!”

”Everyone, don’t spread rumors. We should wait for a response from CCTV. Let’s not speculate before the truth comes out.”

A group of netizens discussed fervently online, and amidst these discussions, many did not forget to tag CCTV, hoping for an official and reasonable explanation.

”Have you found anything?”

He Guolin’s face was so gloomy it could drip water; seeing Xiao Ma running in, he couldn’t help but ask urgently.

Sweat was beading on Xiao Ma’s forehead: ”Nothing found. I went to the headquarters; the staff there said everything was fine, but when I asked to retrieve the surveillance footage, I discovered that the two surveillance cameras in the chandelier area were both off!”
