Urban Martial Saint

Mad Dog didn’t know what Ye Qing was planning to do, but following Ye Qing’s gaze, he happened to see the girl.

The girl was not old, probably around fifteen or sixteen. Due to malnutrition, her body was clearly very thin, and among those heavily made-up women around, she seemed so out of place here. Yet, she sat there stubbornly, her originally innocent eyes gazing around in confusion, as if oblivious to the disgrace of what she was engaged in.

”This is Hongfei Road, a very old street, filled with these kinds of hair-washing rooms, famous in Shenchuan City as the Red Light District. The ladies here and their clients, they all belong to the lowest layer of Shenchuan City. Even though what they are doing is illegal, such things are still unstoppable.

After all, these ladies need to eat,” Mad Dog explained in a soft voice, thinking that Ye Qing was uncomfortable with what was happening here.

Ye Qing didn’t speak, but kept his eyes fixed on the little girl. He had seen this girl before, she was Wang Tiezhu’s sister, Wang Lili, who was attending high school in Shenchuan City. Wang Tiezhu worked stalls at night to earn money, all to support their mother and pay for his sister’s education.

Indeed, their paralyzed mother and the sister who was still in school were the sole reasons for Wang Tiezhu’s persistence in staying alive in Shenchuan City. However, Ye Qing could never have imagined that she would be doing such things here!

”Go down and bring her over,” Ye Qing ordered Mad Dog softly, not wanting to go down himself, fearing he might scare her.

Mad Dog parked the car aside, walked into the alley, and headed straight for Wang Lili. After talking to her for a few moments, a man suddenly came out of the building, saying something to Mad Dog. Anyway, after a while, the man’s demeanor grew dissatisfied, gesturing with his hands for Mad Dog to leave.

Ye Qing frowned slightly, he had only asked Mad Dog to bring Wang Lili over, but why did it seem so difficult?

Just as Ye Qing was surprised, the situation outside changed again. Mad Dog and the man started arguing and then escalated to fighting. Clearly not a match for Mad Dog, the man got punched twice and immediately began making a racket. Promptly, three or four youths rushed out of the building, wielding weapons and rushing towards Mad Dog.

Mad Dog didn’t run; he just took a step back, grabbed a stick from nearby, and glared fiercely at the youths. These youths were very ferocious, charging directly at Mad Dog with machetes and steel pipes, striking down at him.

Mad Dog blocked a couple of times, but ultimately, two fists couldn’t beat four hands, and he was hit in the back with a steel pipe. Mad Dog yelped in pain, turned around hastily to handle the situation, just as a machete was slashing down at his head from behind.

It was then that a calm voice suddenly came from the side: ”Mad Dog, duck!”

The speaker was Ye Qing himself. Hearing Ye Qing’s voice, Mad Dog instantly ducked without hesitation. It was just in time, perfectly avoiding the machete swinging down behind him. Watching the machete fly over his head, Mad Dog broke out into a cold sweat, nearly getting hit!

Ye Qing also had just walked over, the two youths turned toward him, one of them cursed, ”Fuck you, who asked you to speak? Looking for death or what?”

One of the youths wielding a knife then swung at Ye Qing. These young men were all not very old, the one with the knife looked under eighteen, which was a major reason they dared to be so aggressive. Not yet adults, they didn’t have to bear heavy legal responsibilities, so their actions were very reckless.

Confronted with the youth’s machete, Ye Qing didn’t even try to dodge, reaching straight out to grab the youth’s wrist. Stepping forward, his other hand struck like lightning, hitting the youth’s face.

The youth stumbled back two or three meters, fell to the ground, half of his face swollen, half his teeth knocked out. The whole person was stunned, not even feeling the pain, sitting on the ground for a long while, totally dazed by the strike.

Seeing such a situation, the other youth was shocked. He tried to back away, but Ye Qing kicked him in the leg, instantly breaking that youth’s leg. He rolled on the ground in pain, holding his leg.

By then, Mad Dog had also knocked down a youth, snatched the steel pipe from the youth’s hands, and was confronting the last one with a machete.

The youth with the machete, seeing how dominant Ye Qing was, felt some fear, but still screamed with bravado, ”Fuck you, do you know who my big brother is? You two bastards, daring to cause trouble on Hongfei Road, are you sick of living? Believe it or not, I can make one call and get a couple hundred people here, each throwing a punch until you’re gone without a trace!”

Ye Qing ignored him, walking straight to the hair-washing room. Wang Lili was hiding in the room, shivering and watching the situation, scared out of her wits, having never witnessed such a scene.

Seeing Ye Qing approaching Wang Lili, the youth immediately cursed, ”Your mother’s... ”

Ye Qing responded with a slap on his face. The youth immediately shut up, following the first one’s example, his face swelling so much he could no longer curse.

Ye Qing entered the hair-washing room, stood in front of Wang Lili, and said softly, ”Lili, do you remember me?”

It was only then that Wang Lili clearly saw Ye Qing’s face, her color drastically changed, she screamed, and turned to run.

Ye Qing grabbed her immediately and said, ”I’m your brother’s friend, I’m from your hometown, I am Ye Qing, don’t you remember me?”

Wang Lili dared not look Ye Qing in the eyes and just struggled trying to run out. But in Ye Qing’s hands, how could she break free?

”Lili, don’t be scared, just tell me what happened,” Ye Qing said. ”Did they force you? Tell me, no one can bully you!”

”Fuck his mother, who is causing trouble on my turf!” At that moment, a brash voice suddenly came from behind. Ye Qing turned around to see a burly man accompanied by seven or eight fellows running over.

”Big brother, it’s... it’s him causing a scene here...” A young man hurried over, urgently saying, ”Big brother, this kid fights viciously, look what he did to me. Big brother, you gotta take revenge for us!”

The man was even angrier, leading several of his men straight to the outside of the hair wash room. Seeing the bad turn of events, Mad Dog picked up a machete from the ground and stood at the entrance of the hair wash room.

”Fuck, isn’t that Mad Dog?” The lead man recognized Mad Dog, sized him up, and said, ”Son of a bitch, have you eaten a bear’s heart and a leopard’s gall trying to mess around on my turf? And bringing some unknown bastard along, do you want to die?”

”Da Hong, watch your mouth!” Mad Dog exclaimed angrily. ”That’s my big brother, Ye Qing, Boss Ye, you better show some respect!”

”What crap Ye Qing, I don’t know you!” Da Hong said. ”This is Hongfei Road, my Da Hong’s turf, no one pulls any weight here. Mad Dog, if you don’t sort out this mess today, if you can walk out of here, I’ll take your surname!”

Mad Dog was about to retort when Ye Qing suddenly came out of the building, looked at Da Hong with cold eyes, and asked in a deep voice, ”You want to have the surname Zhao, or Ye?”

Da Hong was stunned for a moment, then he realized Ye Qing was taunting him, and immediately burst into rage, bellowing, ”Dog scum, are you fucking asking for a beating? Chop him up for me!”

Seven or eight men behind Da Hong immediately grabbed their machetes and rushed forward, Mad Dog tightened his grip on his machete and stood next to Ye Qing. He was not faint-hearted and, with Ye Qing by his side, he felt much more confident!

”Keep an eye on her!” Ye Qing gave an order, casually grabbed a chair next to him, and marched straight toward those seven or eight men.

Just as he was nearing them, Ye Qing suddenly swung the chair at the first man. That man immediately used his machete to block, but he underestimated Ye Qing’s strength—the machete was knocked out of his hand by the chair, and he was heavily smashed by the chair. The wooden chair shattered on impact, and the man fell to the ground, unconscious.

Ye Qing was left holding two chair legs, which he used as weapons and charged into the crowd.

Several men wielding machetes tried clumsily to strike Ye Qing. However, Ye Qing was much faster, and whoever was hit by the chair legs was instantly incapacitated. Within two minutes, all seven or eight men were down on the ground, moaning and wincing in pain, while Ye Qing hadn’t been touched even once.

Da Hong was dumbfounded, never imagining that so many of his men couldn’t manage a single opponent.

”You... just who the hell are you...” Da Hong looked at Ye Qing in shock, his voice much softer now.

Ye Qing didn’t answer the question but asked sternly, ”How did she end up here?”

”Which... which she?” Da Hong was still puzzled as to why Ye Qing was troubling him.

”Her!” Ye Qing pointed back at Wang Lili.

Only then did Da Hong realize and said, ”She... she owes us money, so she’s here... here working off the debt...”

”She owes you money?” Ye Qing frowned and asked sternly, ”How much does she owe you that you’re making a minor girl do these kinds of things?”

”Three hundred thousand!” Da Hong said.

”What?” Ye Qing’s expression changed, how could Wang Lili owe such a huge amount of money?

”Three hundred thousand!” Da Hong repeated. ”I still have the IOU here, owing... owing debts and paying back is only right, but you... you don’t want to pay back and yet smash up my place, how... how can that be justified anywhere...”

Ye Qing asked gravely, ”How could she owe you three hundred thousand? She’s just a kid, how could she possibly owe you so much?”

”I also know why she would need so much money, but I’m in the lending business, she wanted to borrow money, as long as there’s collateral, it’s doable. How much can I care?” Da Hong paused, then said, ”She borrowed this money using her own body as the collateral. So, her coming here to work off the debt, that’s what she should do. Otherwise, how could I possibly lend her so much money?”
