Urban Martial Saint

People outside the Dog Field were still around, and Ye Qing had not dealt with anyone; he had merely staged a play with the migrant workers to make it appear as though he had a conflict with some external forces.

Li Lianshan still looked a bit puzzled and said, ”Blessing Gang and Tianqing Gang also have people guarding outside; they shouldn’t be so easily fooled. There’s also no way they wouldn’t know if a melee broke out outside, right?”

”They really don’t know,” Black Bear said. ”Blessing Gang, Tianqing Gang, and some forces from Shenchuan City, along with people from other places, though all stationed outside the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena. However, they are not together but scattered, each power holding a position. Like Blessing Gang’s people, stationed on the south side of the Dog Field, and Tianqing Gang’s on the west.

The Blessing Gang doesn’t know what’s happening on the west side, and the Tianqing Gang doesn’t know what’s happening on the south side because they dare not step into territories held by others. So even if a melee breaks out elsewhere, they might not know it.”

Black Bear glanced at Li Lianshan and continued, ”You know, I just said when I came in, I only dealt with the people on one side of the four walls of the Dog Field. This led them to speculate that it was the other two sides they couldn’t see, guessing whether something had happened there.

The same goes for those other outsiders; they all think there was a melee somewhere else, not knowing that in fact, there was no melee at all.”

”Moreover, just now Yue Gaoyang and Shangguan Qing both made calls back and also asked their subordinates about this matter. Their subordinates didn’t know about any fighting, so they wouldn’t think there was no melee because they indeed saw many injured people brought in.

So, they can only guess that our manpower and strength are too strong, and that the people we fought couldn’t even fight back, so the fight was over quickly, and they didn’t notice!” Ye Qing said lightly, smiling, ”This makes them increasingly sure of the strong capabilities of my aides, which makes them more wary of me!”

At this point, Ye Qing paused and then smiled, ”Also, when you were in the pavilion just now, you really gave them a good scolding. This also made them start to wonder whether we really have someone backing us up, which is why you dared talk to them like that. Boss Li, I have to apologize for earlier; to make them believe, I deliberately escalated the situation to that extent!”

Li Lianshan suddenly realized and said, ”So that’s it. By doing this, they must be sure that it’s Huangfu Ziyu helping you. Besides the East State Poisonous Mantis, who else could have such tactics? Also, you purposefully had me sit there, attracting their dissatisfaction, leading to what happened later.

You know I can’t stand being put down, and would definitely start arguing with them, which would make them even more suspicious. Ye Zi, your play was truly masterful; even I was kept in the dark!”

Ye Qing smiled lightly while Li Lianshan’s expression changed slightly and he said, ”However, if they find out later that Poisonous Mantis didn’t help you, wouldn’t that be troublesome?”

”Right now, I just want to get the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena back. Once the Dog Field is in our hands, it’ll be difficult for them to interfere,” Ye Qing said. ”As for future matters, we’ll talk about them later. With Cheng Shuang here, they won’t be able to do anything too outrageous!”

”That may be true, but if we don’t have enough strength, Blessing Gang and Tianqing Gang will eventually overpower us!” Li Lianshan looked at Ye Qing and said, ”Ye Zi, why don’t you establish a flag? With your recent reputation in Shenchuan City, just a call to arms would bring many people to join you. With enough manpower, we wouldn’t need to fear Blessing Gang and Tianqing Gang!”

Ye Qing shook his head and said, ”Manpower, I indeed need, but not gathered in that manner. The relationships in Shenchuan City are complex. If I recruit people here, who knows what kind of people might come. I need to recruit those who are well-known, loyal, and genuinely capable.”

Li Lianshan said, ”Isn’t that too high a requirement? Let me tell you, in this kind of business, you only need a few true confidants. You can’t manage everyone beneath them!”

”If I can’t manage that many, then I’ll just recruit a few confidants!” Ye Qing looked at Li Lianshan and said, ”For me, I don’t need too many people; just enough will do.”

”Without manpower, how will you fight against Blessing Gang and Tianqing Gang?” Li Lianshan asked in surprise.

Ye Qing replied, ”When I was in the army, my Special Forces squad could take on an entire well-equipped platoon.”

Li Lianshan said, ”But can it be the same? In the army, those were Special Forces with strong combat capabilities. Like Xiong Zi, one could take on ten or twenty no problem. But the other people you recruit, can they be the same?”

Ye Qing said softly, ”When Black Bear first joined the army, he was also just a green recruit!”

Li Lianshan was instantly silent; he had heard from Black Bear that he had been trained personally by Ye Qing. It seemed Ye Qing intended to train the people he recruited like Special Forces. But was that possible?

”By the way, Ye Zi, I feel that driving Blessing Gang and Tianqing Gang out so quickly tonight might have been a bit rash,” Li Lianshan suddenly remembered an issue and said, ”Blessing Gang and Tianqing Gang are now the two strongest gangs in Shenchuan City. If they were here, those external forces would think twice before trying to enter the Dog Field.

Now that Blessing Gang and Tianqing Gang have withdrawn, we will have to face those external forces ourselves.”

Li Lianshan glanced at Ye Qing and said, ”External forces that can reach into Shenchuan City are definitely not weak. Even the Blessing Sky Blue Gang didn’t dare make any rash moves when confronting them. Now, as we control the Dog Field, I fear, we’re still not a match for those external forces!”

”So what!” Ye Qing looked at Li Lianshan and said, ”We indeed are not opponents for those external forces, but do you think they will make a move?”

”Why wouldn’t they?” Li Lianshan said, ”The Blessing Gang and the Tianqing Gang have pulled out; they have no reservations now, what’s stopping them from attacking? Knowing that our strength is inferior, these people will definitely seize the opportunity to take over the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena.”

”You’re wrong!” Ye Qing shook his head and said, ”Exactly because the Blessing Gang and the Tianqing Gang have pulled out, these external forces dare not make a move.”

”Why?” Li Lianshan was completely baffled.

”Think about it like this…” Ye Qing said, ”If you coveted a venue in a neighboring city and you sent people to seize it, but there were two local gangs with strong capabilities also wanting it, and you were in a stalemate. Suddenly, these two gangs give up their claim, leaving it to someone who seems much weaker. Would you immediately attack and try to take the venue?”

”That…” Li Lianshan scratched his head, stopped by Ye Qing’s question.

”Your hesitation stems from your straightforward nature. You know there must be a catch, but you can’t bear to give up,” Ye Qing said. ”However, these external forces are not like you; they consider a lot more. Both very strong local gangs have backed out; they have to wonder what kind of strength I possess that forced the Blessing Gang and the Tianqing Gang to retreat.

As the saying goes, the unknown is the most terrifying thing. They can’t discern my strength, and so, they definitely won’t risk making a move. Thus, as long as the Blessing Gang and the Tianqing Gang have withdrawn, those external forces will surely retreat as well!”

Ye Qing turned to look at the Dog Field outside and said, ”In less than two days, there won’t be a single external force left around the Dog Field!”

Seeing Ye Qing so confident, Li Lianshan started to believe as well, saying, ”Ye Zi, your plan really kills two birds with one stone. You’ve driven away the Blessing Gang and the Tianqing Gang and scared off the external forces. The seven or eight groups surrounding the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena have been dismantled so effortlessly by your strategy—it’s really impressive!”

”It’s hardly bloodless!” Black Bear interjected, ”It cost several tens of thousands, Boss Li, you must reimburse us, now that you are the owner of the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena!”

”Reimbursement, absolutely,” Li Lianshan laughed. ”One hundred thousand yuan, I’ll send someone to bring it to you right away!”

If they truly had to seize the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena by force, it wouldn’t have been settled with just a few tens of millions. Ye Qing managed it with less than one hundred thousand, saving him a lot of money. Most importantly, even spending tens of millions might not have secured the arena, and competing with gangs like the Blessing Sky Blue Gang could have cost lives.

Yet, Ye Qing took it back without deploying a single soldier; his methods were indeed awe-inspiring.

Black Bear handed out fifty thousand yuan to the workers. They were all delighted, earning money without doing anything—only the minor pain of falling out of a truck bed from a meter high, which was just a brief moment of discomfort. Now each person had received one thousand yuan for this easy job, something they had never done before.

After arranging meals for these workers, Ye Qing also received a call from Zhao Chengshuang, who was checking how things were on his end. Knowing everything went smoothly, Zhao Chengshuang was overjoyed.

Actually, Ye Qing had discussed this plan with Zhao Chengshuang the night he returned. Cheng Shuang had started organizing these people yesterday, employing his contractor cousin to bring them in from out of state. They arrived in the afternoon, got into makeup, and by evening, they took to the stage.

Zhao Chengshuang was not sure if Ye Qing’s plan would work out and was constantly nervous. Learning that everything went smoothly excited him greatly. The Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena was Tiger King’s most profitable venue; now that it had returned to their hands, Ye Qing essentially had the capital to stand amongst the upper echelons of Shenchuan City!

As a police officer, Zhao Chengshuang, opposing these gang-related activities was inevitable. However, he was well aware that such underworld elements couldn’t be completely eradicated. Thus, he was keen on having Ye Qing control all of Shenchuan City’s underground forces.

After all, having a conscientious person in charge of these activities is surely much better than someone utterly devoid of humanity!
