Urban Martial Saint

Everyone then remembered that Ye Qing was still wanted by Shenchuan City police, and that Lin Yaqing had hired private detectives who were out there trying to kill him.

Lin Zhen Nan didn’t dare make a decision on his own and looked towards Old Lady Lin, saying, ”Mom, what do you think we should do about this...”

Old Lady Lin waved her hand, weakly saying, ”Hurry...hurry and find a way to cancel the warrant. Ye Qing has been kind to our Lin family, and we cannot repay his kindness with ingratitude. Zhen Nan, if there is an opportunity, bring Ye Qing to our Lin family, I want to apologize to him in person. All of us in the Lin family owe him an apology!”

”That sounds more like it,” Zhao Shilin said with satisfaction, adding, ”Old Granny Lin, there’s a saying, ’To know your faults and be able to change is the greatest virtue.’ The people of your Lin family really need to reflect on what they’ve done.”

”Old Zhao, you’re right,” Old Lady Lin replied, nodding, ”This incident has been the biggest lesson for our Lin family. Old Zhao, I’m sorry for what happened with Cheng Shuang last time.”

”Our Zhao family has some kinship with your Lin family, for things like this, a simple apology is enough. But...” Zhao Shilin glanced at the TV screen and sighed, ”Those people who were killed or disabled by Lin Tianhao, is a simple apology enough for them?”

Old Lady Lin also looked at the TV screen, tears welling up again, desolately saying, ”It’s our Lin family’s responsibility, and we will definitely take it on!”

”I’m afraid it’s not as simple as just responsibility, good is rewarded with good, and evil with evil,” Zhao Shilin said, ”Retribution may be delayed, but it will come.”

As people age, they come to believe in retribution. Zhao Shilin is so, and so is Old Lady Lin. Remembering her daughter Lin Yashi’s tragic state and looking at the people on the screen, Old Lady Lin couldn’t help but feel grief and cried out, ”Oh heaven, if there truly is retribution, let it fall upon me alone...”

”Grandma, Grandma, don’t say such things!”

”Mom, please don’t say that!”

The Lin family members were also filled with sorrow. Although Old Lady Lin held a dominant position in the family, her care for the Lin family was absolutely genuine. Not one of the Lin family members did not respect her!

”Whether retribution comes or not, the responsibilities that belong to you still must be taken,” Zhao Chengshuang said sternly, ”This disc, I’ve already made a copy and sent it to the city police department. Some of you in the Lin family must come forward and take responsibility for this!”

Everyone immediately looked towards Lin Fuyuan and several other elders. They had all been involved with Lin Tianhao in the drug trafficking business, and the evidence was on the disc. If this disc were delivered to the police, then they would surely face the fate of being imprisoned!

”Cheng Shuang, don’t...don’t be so hasty...” Lin Fuyuan’s complexion changed drastically as he said urgently, ”Cheng Shuang, I...after all, I am your uncle by marriage, we are all family. Your uncle may have done some wrong, but I have realized my fault, and I will...I will change. Can’t you give me one chance? Do you really have the heart to see your uncle spend the rest of his life in jail?”

Zhao Chengshuang glared and said, ”Lin Fuyuan, don’t make it sound so nice. When I went to your Lin family in a wheelchair, how did you treat me? How did you allow your son to come out and beat me? How did you curse my Zhao family? What did you say about me being an outsider? Now you come to me to talk about family?

What right do you have to be my family?”

Lin Fuyuan, with an embarrassed face, replied, ”Cheng Shuang, that...that incident was my fault, and I apologize to you here. As the saying goes, blood is thicker than water, we are kin after all, and your mother is my cousin. Have you forgotten? When you were young, I...I took care of you for a time...”

”I remember that!” Zhao Shilin said coldly, ”Lin Fuyuan, I still remember how your Lin family treated our Zhao family after you grew wealthy. Everyone in the Lin family has the right to speak of kinship with us, but you do not!”

Lin Fuyuan had no words to reply, thinking back on how he had looked down upon the Zhao family and made things difficult for them after the Lin family prospered. Now, he realized he had cut off all his retreats and that the Zhao family held only hatred for him, without a shred of familial affection.

”Mom, I know I was wrong, and I will change in the future. Can you...can you please speak to Cheng Shuang for me, ask him to spare me this time...” Lin Fuyuan’s voice trembled as he begged Old Lady Lin, ”Mom, I really don’t want to go to jail. If this goes to trial, I could be locked away for twenty or thirty years.

Twenty or thirty years, Mom, I don’t even know if I’ll live to see the outside again...”

Old Lady Lin had always protected the people of her family, and she doted on her sons and grandsons. Zhao Chengshuang watched Old Lady Lin anxiously, knowing that if she truly spoke up to protect Lin Fuyuan, it would be troublesome.

Old Lady Lin looked at Lin Fuyuan and slowly shook her head, saying, ”Fuyuan, I’ve said it, our Lin family members must pay the price for what they have done. The wrongs you all committed should not be borne by others. Do you understand?”

”Mom, I won’t dare anymore, please, please, just give me one chance, just one chance is enough...” Lin Fuyuan begged in a trembling voice.

”You no longer have a chance!” Old Lady Lin said slowly, waving her hand, ”Zhen Nan, take them to turn themselves in. I hope the judge will, considering their voluntary surrender, give them a lighter sentence. But Zhen Nan, remember not to use any connections to reduce their punishment. The things they have done, they must bear the consequences themselves!”

Upon hearing Old Lady Lin say this, Zhao Chengshuang breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that Old Lady Lin had indeed reached a profound realization and was not favoring her family anymore. But it also made sense, as Lin Yashi’s incident had been a wake-up call for her, and she truly feared retribution falling on innocent Lin family members.

Lin Fuyuan’s face was the picture of despair as he said in a trembling voice, ”Mom! Mom! Mom! You can’t do this to me, I...I am your son...”

Old Lady Lin turned her head away, not sparing him another look. Lin Zhen Nan sighed and stepped up to Lin Fuyuan, saying, ”Second Brother, let’s go. Do not make Mom any sadder.”

Lin Fuyuan stared at Old Lady Lin, his expression turning ashen. After a long silence, he slowly turned around and walked out of the ward.

Seeing his state, Zhao Chengshuang did not make him slap himself those dozens of times. For someone like Lin Fuyuan, being sent to prison was the best outcome.

Zhao Chengshuang turned to Lin Yaqing and suddenly raised his voice, ”Lin Yaqing, aren’t you going to call your private detectives? Are you still planning to let them go after Ye Zi?”

”Yes, Yaqing, you should call those private detectives back!” Old Lady Lin also remembered this matter and hurriedly said, ”We can’t keep making mistakes, call them back. If Ye Qing gets hurt, our Lin family will have committed a great sin.”

Lin Yaqing sneered, ”What great sin? Mom, don’t worry about it too much!”

Zhao Chengshuang said coldly, ”Ungratefulness is the most disgusting behavior in the world!”

Lin Yaqing glared at Zhao Chengshuang and said, ”It’s just a phone call. What does it matter if I make it a bit later? Ye’s life is large; she won’t die that easily!”

Old Lady Lin said, ”Yaqing, you’d better make the call now!”

”Mom...” Lin Yaqing, feeling helpless, said, ”Alright, I’ll go make the call now. Mom, don’t worry, there won’t be any problems.”

Lin Yaqing left the ward and found a quiet place. She dialed the private detective’s number and deliberately spoke loudly, ”Cancel the case, and you all should come back immediately. I will pay you the breach of contract fee, don’t worry about it. Yes, yes, yes, come back now, don’t chase him anymore!”

Zhao Chengshuang listened to Lin Yaqing’s voice from a distance and nodded in approval. As long as the police department retracted the wanted notice, Ye Qing could return to Shenchuan City safely and peacefully.

After making the call, Lin Yaqing didn’t go back into the ward. She stealthily glanced back, saw that no one was paying attention to her, and quickly typed a text message to send to the private detective.

”Kill Ye Qing before midnight tonight, reward twenty million!”

After sending the message, Lin Yaqing immediately deleted the message record and held her phone, pretending as if nothing had happened, then returned to the ward.

Lin Yaqing said, ”I’ve made the call. I offered them a cancellation fee, and they won’t pursue Ye Qing anymore!”

”That’s good, that’s very good!” Old Lady Lin nodded her head repeatedly and said, ”Our Lin family has already done so many wrongs; we can’t make any more mistakes. Yaqing, you should accumulate more good deeds for the future generations of our family!”

”Mom, don’t worry, I know what to do!” Lin Yaqing said, looking at the images on the television screen, ”I will donate one million to help these children and people with disabilities. It should count as accumulating good deeds for our Lin family!”

”Good, that’s very good!” Old Lady Lin nodded in satisfaction.

”One million?” Zhao Chengshuang curled his lip and said, ”Lin Yaqing, you offered up to three million to have someone kill Ye Zi. Now that you’re doing a good deed, you’re only willing to give one million? You’re such a hypocrite when it comes to charity!”

Lin Yaqing’s face changed instantly, and Old Lady Lin frowned at her, clearly dissatisfied.

”Mom, you... don’t listen to his nonsense, I didn’t spend that much money...” Lin Yaqing said awkwardly, ”If... if you’re not satisfied, then I’ll donate five million to these people. How does that sound?”

Old Lady Lin waved her hand and said, ”Yaqing, man acts and heaven watches. I don’t know what you have done, nor do I want to know. But whatever you do, you must live with a clear conscience!”

”Yes, mom, I’ll remember your words!” Lin Yaqing replied with her head down, a hint of imperceptible coldness flashing in her eyes.

Meanwhile, on the outskirts of the city, the private detective Bai Liangcai frowned at the message on his phone, ”Twenty million, this money won’t be easy to make!”

His assistant looked at him and whispered, ”Maybe we should ask for help.”

”Ask for help? From whom?” Bai Liangcai asked curiously.

”I’ve heard there’s a person known as Lady Boss in Shenchuan City!”
