Ye Qing glanced at Ou Keren, shaking his head, ”Then you’re following the wrong person, I also don’t know where He Ziqiang is hiding. Otherwise, I would have found him by now.”

Ou Keren was startled and said, ”You were able to find him precisely twice before. Why can’t you locate him now?”

Ye Qing shook his head, ”Taking hostages and not taking hostages are completely different matters. With hostages, he has to think about how to avoid the police’s pursuit, and we just need to anticipate his psychological evasions to find him. But without hostages, his whereabouts are much harder to figure out.”

Ou Keren said, ”But didn’t you say yesterday that he was very likely to go to North Suburb? Where do you think he might go today?”

Ye Qing was silent for a while, shaking his head, ”I don’t know.”

”Why?” Ou Keren was even more surprised.

”If he were acting alone, it might be a bit easier to find him. But I suspect that someone else is backing him. Now that I’ve taken the hostage from him, he wouldn’t dare be careless and will only seek help from that person.” Ye Qing said gravely, ”I don’t know who that person behind him is, so I can’t analyze where he might be hiding.”

Ou Keren couldn’t help feeling a bit deflated but before she could speak again, Ye Qing suddenly spread his arms and knocked her to the ground.

Ou Keren was shocked. The moment she hit the ground, she instinctively raised her hand and struck a powerful blow to Ye Qing’s waist acupoint. Her strength was not as great as others’, but she was precise with acupoints. Surprisingly, the force of her blow caused Ye Qing’s whole body to numb, slowly losing consciousness.

Just then, a sound of breaking glass came from nearby. Ou Keren turned her head, only to see that the stone tablet where she and Ye Qing had just been had now a broken syringe on it.

Ou Keren saw clearly that the syringe was actually a tranquilizer gun’s dart. It was a relatively simple tranquilizer gun with a small range, but it wasn’t hard to tranquilize someone with it.

Ou Keren finally understood why Ye Qing had tackled her to the ground. If not for Ye Qing pinning her down, the tranquilizer dart would probably have hit her. She had thought he had some ulterior motive and had knocked him unconscious. Realizing this, Ou Keren couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret.

”Who?” Ou Keren turned and shouted angrily.

From behind a large stone tablet in the distance came three people, the leader a man wearing a duckbill hat. He looked pleased as he surveyed the unconscious Ye Qing and said, ”Miss, this matter is none of your concern; you should leave.”

”Who are you?” Ou Keren frowned. She could tell that these three were not policemen, and with a simple tranquilizer gun, they were definitely not ordinary.

The man in the duckbill hat came forward, smiling faintly, ”Bai Liangcai, private detective. Hired by the Lin family to take him back.”

”Private detective?” Ou Keren coldly glanced at the three men and recalled that Guan Haochen and his team had cornered Ye Qing here after being tipped off by a private detective hired by the Lin family. It seemed, then, these were the three.

”I’ve never seen such dishonorable private detectives, hiding and shooting from the shadows. How disgraceful!” Ou Keren said sternly.

”I’ve been observing this man for a long time. If we didn’t shoot from the shadow, we three wouldn’t stand a chance against him,” Bai Liangcai responded unabashedly, smiling, ”To catch him, we had to resort to extreme measures. Miss, please step aside, he’s worth three hundred thousand.”

Ou Keren stepped in front of Ye Qing, saying coldly, ”Humph, do you think I would let you take him away?”

Bai Liangcai sized up Ou Keren, smiling, ”Miss, I advise you not to cross us. Although we can’t defeat Mr. Ye, that doesn’t mean we can’t defeat you. As far as I know, you’ve known him for less than two days, hardly friends. Why make enemies for his sake? If you want to capture He Ziqiang, you can come to us, too; you don’t necessarily have to rely on him!”

Ou Keren frowned tightly, saying coldly, ”Who says you can’t be friends after two days? He is my friend, and you had better not think about touching him!”

”In that case, there’s nothing more to discuss!” Bai Liangcai stepped back, quietly watching Ou Keren, ”Honestly, I don’t like to strike women. But no one can stop me from making a fortune!”

Having said that, Bai Liangcai suddenly thrust his foot at Ou Keren. His kick was very sudden and powerful. Back in the army, many strong men had fallen at his feet. Compared to those individuals, Ou Keren was far inferior.

Ou Keren also acted decisively, extending two fingers from her right hand, striking directly at the large acupoint on Bai Liangcai’s leg.

Seeing Ou Keren react in such a way, Bai Liangcai sneered, kicking even harder. He didn’t believe that Ou Keren’s slim fingers could do any harm, but he was confident that his kick could send Ou Keren flying.

Before Bai Liangcai’s foot could reach Ou Keren, her fingers had already touched his leg. Bai Liangcai felt a numbness in his leg and instantly sensed something was wrong. But by then, it was too late; Ou Keren took a step forward, continuously touching several of Bai Liangcai’s acupoints, knocking him to the ground.

If Bai Liangcai had truly fought Ou Keren head-on, she might not have been his match. But while Ou Keren lacked strength, she was precise with acupoints. Even ordinary attacks become ten to a hundred times more potent when they hit acupoints. Bai Liangcai was hit in his acupoints from the start, so his defeat was predictable.

The two men who came with Bai Liangcai were stunned by the scene, unable to believe that Bai Liangcai had been defeated by such a seemingly frail girl.

After hesitating for a moment, one of them took out a simple tranquilizer gun from his person and aimed it at Ou Keren, ”Don’t move!”

Ou Keren didn’t obey. She sprinted to the side, taking cover behind a huge rock. She then picked up a rock and threw it at the man.

The man hastily retreated to dodge the rock, while Ou Keren took the opportunity to rush out from behind the huge rock, heading straight for him. The man fumbled with his gun and fired a shot, but it missed Ou Keren, who then quickly reached him and struck twice at his chest acupoints, causing him to fall straight to the ground.

The other man was petrified, watching the whole event, and took a long moment to recover.

Ou Keren glanced at him and slowly lifted her hand. The man instantly shivered with fright and hurriedly waved his hands, saying, ”No… it’s not my fault, I’m just an employee…”

Ou Keren asked in a deep voice, ”How did you guys get here?”

Man: ”Drove… drove here…”

”Where is the car?”

”Parked outside the woods…”

Ou Keren nodded in satisfaction and pointed at Ye Qing, saying, ”Carry him to the car, and I might spare you!”

The man didn’t dare to hesitate. He hurried over, hoisted Ye Qing onto his back, and huffed as he carried him to the car outside the woods.

Ou Keren sent the man back to the creek, then drove away with Ye Qing from the area.

At the creek, Bai Liangcai slowly came to after more than half an hour. He still felt a bit numb, but he was finally able to move.

He staggered to his feet and saw one person lying beside him, while another man stood nearby. He rubbed his temples and asked, ”Where… where are the people?”

The man honestly replied, ”They ran away.”

”How did they escape?” Bai Liangcai looked around; Ye Qing was also gone.

Bai Liangcai asked, ”How did a girl carrying a man manage to escape?”

The man’s face looked mournful as he said, ”She stole our car…”

”What!” Bai Liangcai’s eyes widened in shock, realizing the deal hadn’t been sealed yet and they had already lost a car?

Just then, his cell phone suddenly rang.

”How did it go?” A cold voice came from the other end of the phone—it was Lin Yaqing’s voice.

Bai Liangcai hurriedly said, ”We almost caught him.”

”What do you mean by almost?” Lin Yaqing’s voice sounded angry. ”Three hundred thousand, and you can’t handle such a small matter, yet you dare call yourself the number one private detective in Shenchuan?”

Bai Liangcai replied, ”Miss Lin, please don’t worry. Although I haven’t caught him yet, I did knock him out, so the matter is half accomplished already.”

”Knocked him out and he still escaped?” Lin Yaqing sounded astonished.

”Someone helped him.” Bai Liangcai helplessly explained the incident involving Ou Keren. After Lin Yaqing listened, she burst into fury, ”Three of you grown men couldn’t handle one woman, and you still claim to be the number one private detective in Shenchuan?”

Bai Liangcai was extremely embarrassed and said, ”Miss Lin, please be assured, we were just careless this time. Give me a little more time, and I will definitely bring him back to you!”

”He has run away, where will you catch him?” Lin Yaqing angrily said.

Bai Liangcai smiled triumphantly and said, ”That woman drove away in my car, and my car has a tracker. They can’t get far!”

Lin Yaqing’s voice then eased a bit, ”Good, while he is still unconscious, hurry up and bring him back to me. Remember, three hundred thousand for a live one, a hundred and fifty thousand for a corpse, make your choice!”

”Rest assured, I will definitely bring you the live one!” Bai Liangcai hung up the phone, a trace of gloom flashing across his face as he said in a low voice, ”Bring out the locator, immediately find the car’s position for me!”

A man hurriedly took out the locator and started the search, while another man turned to Bai Liangcai and said, ”Boss, even if we find them, we can’t beat that woman. Besides, in such a short time, Mr. Ye might have woken up already, and going there would be useless.”

Bai Liangcai furrowed his brows, acknowledging the problem. He was silent for a while then said, ”How much of the anesthetic gun do we still have?”

A man responded reluctantly, ”The anesthetic gun was stolen by that woman!”

”What?” Bai Liangcai’s face changed, and he cried out in dismay, ”That was a high-tech device I bought for ten thousand yuan!”

The two men looked at each other, silently muttering to themselves: What high-tech device, it’s barely different from a slingshot.

”Damn it, without the anesthetic gun, dealing with them really won’t be easy!” Bai Liangcai paced a few steps on the spot, suddenly looked up, and said in a deep voice, ”I heard that Yang Shitao is also buying his life, and it seems he is offering even more?”
