Urban Martial Saint

The outskirts of Shenchuan City housed many small towns like this one, virtually indistinguishable from one another. Even if they could confirm that He Ziqiang was hiding someone in one of these towns, conducting a search would be far from an easy task.

Ou Keren gazed at Ye Qing, her beautiful eyes brimming with curiosity.

Without responding to her, Ye Qing turned to Zhao Chengshuang and asked, ”If you knew that He Ziqiang was hiding in one of Shenchuan City’s small towns, which town do you think you would most likely search for him?”

”Well,” Zhao Chengshuang scratched his head, ”if you ask me, I wouldn’t come to the Southern Suburb; I’d go to the North Suburb. You see, the hospital is over there, and there’s a broad road leading directly to the North Suburb. But heading south, you might hit a traffic jam at any point. If you wanted to escape, the north would definitely be the best direction.

Besides, both waterways and roadways are convenient in the North Suburb, which gives you multiple escape options, making it the most suitable for hiding people.”

Ye Qing nodded and looked at Ou Keren, ”What about you?”

Ou Keren was silent for a moment before saying, ”I agree with Captain Zhao’s opinion.”

There you have it,” Ye Qing shrugged. ”You all would think to search in the North Suburb and, in fact, that’s where you’ve focused your search efforts. If He Ziqiang were to escape following your logic, would he still qualify as a so-called international thief?”

Zhao Chengshuang was momentarily speechless. ”Ye Zi, the way you put it, it’s like you’re saying all the police are incompetent.”

Ye Qing didn’t reply, and Ou Keren smiled, ”I think Mr. Ye is quite right. Actually, when we handle cases, we all have a fixed way of thinking. We do analyze the situation and circumstances, but in reality, if we encounter crafty criminals, our thoughts are often already within their grasp, which makes catching them very difficult. He Ziqiang is an extremely cunning individual.

It’s just his bad luck to have encountered Ye.”

Zhao Chengshuang gave Ou Keren a glance. She was full of admiration when she looked at Ye Qing, even changing how she addressed him, starting to call him Ye.

”By the way, Ye Zi, what exactly happened between you and Lin Tianhao?” Upon seeing Lin Yashi, Zhao Chengshuang was so excited that he had momentarily forgotten the issue. Now that he remembered, he asked anxiously.

Ye Qing furrowed his brows and after a moment of silence, said, ”This is something between him and me. Don’t worry about it.”

”Damn, what do you mean ’don’t worry about it’!” Zhao Chengshuang glared, ”We are brothers; I’m not afraid to fall out with the Lin family. Just tell me what’s wrong, and as long as it’s not your fault, I’ll support you to the death!”

Ye Qing felt a warmth in his heart and looked at Zhao Chengshuang, ”Cheng Shuang, thank you!”

Zhao Chengshuang said, ”Cut the crap and tell me what’s going on!”

Ou Keren watched Ye Qing, too. She could see that Ye Qing was certainly not a bad person. What could have driven him to take such drastic actions?

Ye Qing exhaled deeply and shared the events regarding his brother Ye Jun. This was the first time he had divulged his own affairs to someone else. In order to ensure Ye Jun’s safety, he had not even told Black Bear. But now, it seemed no longer crucial whether he spoke of it or not.

After hearing Ye Qing’s story, Zhao Chengshuang and Ou Keren fell into silence. They could empathize with Ye Qing’s anger—after such a long search, to have his only brother killed right in front of him in a car fire set to silence him, who wouldn’t go mad?

”Lin Tianhao!” Zhao Chengshuang clenched his teeth in anger, ”If I had known he was so vile, I would have sent him to jail much earlier, preventing him from bringing harm to so many others!”

Ou Keren’s beautiful eyes widened in shock, ”Can such terrible things really happen in this world? To chop a living person’s limbs off, leaving them disabled and to beg on the streets. To buy and sell children’s organs—is this the work of human beings?”

”Those bastards, they can’t be considered human!” Zhao Chengshuang said indignantly: ”And those people from the Lin family still have the face to make a fuss? No, I’m going to call the station to have them revoke the arrest warrant!”

Seeing Zhao Chengshuang reach for his phone, Ou Keren hurriedly stopped him, ”Captain Zhao, let’s not make that call just yet.”

”Why?” Zhao Chengshuang asked curiously.

”No matter what Lin Tianhao has done, the fact that Ye attacked and injured people in the Lin family can’t be changed. If the Lin family doesn’t drop the charges, the arrest warrant won’t be revoked.” Ou Keren paused, then continued, ”If you make the call now, it will only let the people at the city bureau know that Ye is here, and they’ll definitely send someone to capture him!”

Zhao Chengshuang was taken aback, realizing he had been so angry he hadn’t considered this. Now that Ou Keren had reminded him, he was instantly drenched in a cold sweat. If people from the city bureau arrived, wouldn’t Ye Qing be in danger?

”Ye Zi, Miss Ou is right. Whether the arrest warrant from the Municipal Bureau can be revoked depends on the Lin family’s wishes, and that’s a bit tricky to handle,” Zhao Chengshuang scratched his head and said, ”However, you saved my aunt by marriage and did a big favor for the Lin family. I will talk to my uncle by marriage and try to get them to withdraw the arrest warrant.”

”Whether it’s withdrawn or not isn’t the key!” Ye Qing shook his head and said, ”I must avenge my younger brother!”

Zhao Chengshuang said anxiously, ”But if you kill Lin Tianhao like this, the Lin family will surely use all their connections to brand you as a murderer. By then, you probably won’t have a place to stand in the whole Huaxia!”

Ye Qing said coldly, ”Even if I have to live the life of a fugitive forever, I will not let my brother die in vain!”

”Here you go again!” Zhao Chengshuang said helplessly, ”Ye Zi, with your temperament, you are definitely going to suffer a big loss. Just like with this Lin Tianhao, can’t you wait for a few days, deal with him after he gets out? Instead, you went straight to the Lin Family Courtyard, which is practically a slap in the face to the entire Lin family.

It would be strange if the Lin family didn’t hate you. Why can’t you wait for a few days, wait for the right moment? There’s a saying that a gentleman can wait ten years for revenge. As long as the green hills are there, you won’t worry about firewood!”

What Zhao Chengshuang said was exactly the same as Fire Butterfly, both of them having nearly identical views regarding Ye Qing. The saying, ”As long as the green hills are there, you won’t worry about firewood,” unfortunately, Ye Qing could never hold back when it came to matters involving his younger brother. Having lost his mother at a young age, his family was always his weak spot!

”Big Brother Ye, I can understand your feelings. However, Captain Zhao is right, and this matter indeed should be carefully planned,” said Ou Keren, ”You want to kill Lin Tianhao now, and the Lin family definitely won’t agree. So, if you want to avenge your brother, you must first make Lin Tianhao lose the support of the Lin family.

If you can find evidence of Lin Tianhao doing those things, I think the Lin family will surely abandon him. Then, you can do whatever you want without the Lin family stopping you.”

Ye Qing nodded and said, ”I will find a way to get that evidence. Cheng Shuang, can you do me a favor?”

Zhao Chengshuang said, ”Don’t ask, just tell me.”

Ye Qing hesitated for a moment and then said, ”The car that Lin Tianhao’s men burned last night likely contains my younger brother Ye Jun’s remains. Now the police have towed away that car, could you help me retrieve my brother’s remains? I want to bring him back!”

Zhao Chengshuang said, ”No problem, the Municipal Bureau is currently conducting identity verification. Once the identities are confirmed, I will immediately help you take those remains.”

”Thank you,” Ye Qing sighed and, looking at Lin Yashi on the bed, said, ”Keep an eye on her these next few days. I think He Ziqiang is set on getting a ransom from the Lin family, and he’s likely to take action again. Don’t let him succeed another time!”

Zhao Chengshuang said, ”From now on, somebody will be guarding my aunt around the clock, twenty-four hours a day. There won’t be any more accidents like this. And as for He Ziqiang, I will find a way to catch him. He has harmed my aunt like this; I must kill him!”

Ye Qing nodded and said, ”Then I’ll be going now. Cheng Shuang, please take care of those kids for me. I’m afraid I won’t be able to go back and see them for a while!”

”Leave it to me, you need to hide well, and absolutely make sure no one finds you. Once I’ve persuaded the Lin family to revoke the arrest warrant, I’ll notify you to come out,” Zhao Chengshuang patted Ye Qing’s arm and said, ”Ye Zi, don’t worry, nothing will happen to you!”

Ye Qing gave a bitter smile; he would rather that it be himself who died, as long as his younger brother Ye Jun could live.

After patting Zhao Chengshuang on the shoulder, Ye Qing walked straight out of the clinic. He had barely taken two steps when his expression changed, and he suddenly rolled to the ground. At that moment, a needle landed exactly where he had been standing. If Ye Qing had been a fraction slower, that needle would have hit him.

”What’s going on?” Zhao Chengshuang shouted anxiously.

Just then, a group of heavily armed police officers suddenly appeared at the end of the street and pointed their guns at Ye Qing from a distance.

Without any hesitation, Ye Qing did a kip-up, got up at once, turned around, and ran back to the clinic. He went straight to the rear window and jumped out, fleeing.

Zhao Chengshuang ran to the entrance of the clinic, wanting to stop those police officers. But at that moment, the sound of chaotic gunfire erupted from behind the clinic, leaving Zhao Chengshuang frozen. It took him a while before he shouted, ”Who’s shooting? Who the fuck gave you the order to shoot?”

”I gave the order to shoot!” A haughty voice came from the distance as Guan Haochen walked in with several people from the provincial department, his attitude very arrogant.

Zhao Chengshuang glared at him and shouted, ”Fuck your mother, what right do you have to order them to shoot!”

Ou Keren also furrowed her brows and said sternly, ”Captain Guan, he’s just a regular fugitive; there’s no need for such extreme action, right? Opening fire in the streets, is this the conduct of Huaxia police officers?”

Hearing Ou Keren defending Ye Qing, Guan Haochen was angered and said coldly, ”Miss Ou, this is Huaxia. How we do things is our business; please don’t dictate how we should handle our affairs. Moreover, Ye Qing is not an ordinary fugitive. One person has died in the Lin family, and he is the prime suspect; hence, he has been elevated to a one-level fugitive.

If he doesn’t cooperate, according to our rules, we are authorized to shoot to kill!”
