Urban Martial Saint

Yue Gaoyang held the cigarette between two fingers, sighed, and said, ”This Ye has really made a big scene with the Lin family this time, charging into their residence alone, injuring so many people. The incident was witnessed by all. Moreover, Xikou Fire Butterfly also stormed into the Lin family’s home, killed one of their people, and took someone away in plain view of many Lin family members.

Now, the Lin family is no longer the one that had control over Shenchuan City!”

Shangguan Qing frowned and said in a deep voice, ”Where on earth did this Ye come from? A person like him appears out of nowhere and manages to cause such a huge stir in Shenchuan City, even attracting Poisonous Mantis and Fire Butterfly to Shenchuan City. He can’t be without some background.”

”Who knows,” Yue Gaoyang said. ”Maybe, he’s just someone Poisonous Mantis has cultivated to stir up the waters of Shenchuan City.”

Shangguan Qing glanced at Yue Gaoyang and slowly frowned, saying, ”Does Mr. Yue mean to say that Poisonous Mantis has long been eyeing Shenchuan City?”

Yue Gaoyang looked deeply at Shangguan Qing and said, ”Or perhaps, her target is Xi Hang, not Shenchuan City!”

Shangguan Qing and Yue Gaoyang locked eyes for a while before saying, ”She wants to use the situation in Shenchuan City to lure people from Xi Hang over. Does she think her wings are fully grown and that she can handle people from Xi Hang?”

”Poisonous Mantis has been notorious for ten years. During this decade, the entire underworld of Eastern Province has been under the control of one woman!” Yue Gaoyang said solemnly. ”The terror of this woman is beyond our imagination. She wants to deal with the people from Xi Hang, she might have the means. I just hope that in this chaos, our Fu Bang won’t become cannon fodder!”

”This is Shenchuan City; it’s not up to outsiders to call the shots!” Shangguan Qing said coldly. ”If they think they can use the Tianqing Gang as a stepping stone, hmph, they’ll have to pay a bloody price!”

Yue Gaoyang smiled faintly and said, ”The Second Gang Leader is still so confident. But, whether it’s the East State Poisonous Mantis or the people from Xi Hang, neither is easy to deal with. Second Gang Leader, if we are to contend with them, we might have to work together. Continuing as a disunited group, we’re likely to be eliminated one by one!”

Shangguan Qing glanced at Yue Gaoyang, finally understanding his intention. Yue Gaoyang wanted to form an alliance with their Tianqing Gang to contend against Ye Qing and the potential threat of Poisonous Mantis entering Shenchuan City.

In the past when the three gangs coexisted, they were enemies to each other. Now that the Fierce Tiger Gang had fallen, Fu Bang and Tianqing Gang had become outright adversaries, with neither considering an alliance. Now faced with no other choice against the formidable Poisonous Mantis, Yue Gaoyang proposed this plan out of desperation. Scattered forces would only meet with being devoured!

”We two cannot decide this matter alone,” Shangguan Qing said. ”When the opportunity arises, we should invite Gang Leader Li for tea.”

Yue Gaoyang smiled, saying, ”As long as the Grand Gang Leader has time, our Big Brother will always have time.”

Shangguan Qing nodded slowly, noting that Yue Gaoyang had already had the idea of forming an alliance when he had called Li Wenyuan.

”For now, let’s just see if this Ye can get the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena in order!” said Shangguan Qing with a cold laugh. ”Some of those trying to take the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena are not even from Eastern Province. People from other provinces might not give any face to Poisonous Mantis. I want to see just how much Poisonous Mantis can actually support Ye Qing!”

Yue Gaoyang smiled lightly. Li Wenyuan had let go of the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena for this reason. Ye Qing had already made enemies with forces from outside the area; he was curious to see how Ye Qing would handle those outsiders. They had withdrawn their men to let Ye Qing clash with the outsiders first while they prepared to reap the benefits of the aftermath.

”With the people they’ve hurt tonight, they’ve probably made a lot of enemies. Ye, do you really think you can easily take over the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena simply because we’ve pulled out?” Yue Gaoyang said with a sneer.

At the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena, once Shangguan Qing and Yue Gaoyang left, Ye Qing immediately had Black Bear Mad Dog and the others load the two groups of people into vehicles and take them down to the underground parking lot.

”Ye Zi, you’ve really got some skills!” Li Lianshan followed behind Ye Qing, saying, ”What exactly is your relationship with Miss Huangfu? Why is she helping you so much? Does she really fancy you?”

Ye Qing smiled without saying a word, slowly walking into the building ahead. Ever since the Tiger King died, the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena had been deserted, and now it lay dilapidated, with a layer of dust covering the once-luxurious decorations.

Walking into the main hall and looking around, the dust-covered furniture still appeared extremely lavish. This place, as the most profitable venue for the Tiger King’s men, had seen a lot of the Tiger King’s efforts. It was unexpected that it had now become the foundation for Ye Qing to establish himself in Shenchuan City.

”Ye Zi, as long as the dog arena can open, making twenty million a month won’t be a problem!” Li Lianshan said excitedly. ”And that’s a conservative estimate; mainly because I don’t understand the operations here. If it can be done like the Tiger King did, making thirty to fifty million a month isn’t difficult. There won’t be any financial issues for your orphanage anymore!”

”Let’s hope so!” Ye Qing nodded slowly; he was earning money to provide security for the lives of those children.

Li Lianshan said, ”For those few kids, let alone the dog arena, the income from any one of our venues in the city is enough for them to live on. The rest would all be pure profit. Ye Zi, once you’ve made money, consider bringing your parents over and taking care of them too. It’s not right to leave them in your hometown all the time.”

Ye Qing shook his head, saying, ”They can’t come here.”

”Why?” Li Lianshan asked in surprise.

Ye Qing said, ”Earning this money here inevitably means making enemies; I can’t let them take that risk!”

”That makes sense,” Li Lianshan nodded, saying, ”No matter what, taking care of the family back home is also a way to fulfill your filial duty.”

Ye Qing chuckled. He had been planning to go home for the past few days, partly to borrow some people from Old Fifth Yang and partly to get things settled at home. His father had worked hard all his life and was still making a living by patching tires and fixing bicycles. Ye Qing didn’t want him to continue working.

With the money he had, he could take care of the family and let his father enjoy some peace and comfort.

”By the way, Ye Zi, what’s the deal between you and Miss Huangfu?” Li Lianshan started to gossip, saying, ”I heard Miss Huangfu is even more beautiful than a Heavenly Immortal. You’ve got some serious luck with the ladies, man!”

”There’s nothing going on between her and me!” Ye Qing said.

”Come on, if there’s nothing going on, how could she help you that much?” Li Lianshan punched Ye Qing playfully and said, ”With Miss Huangfu stepping in, those demons and ghosts were scared off in no time. I bet nobody dares to mess with the Southern Suburbs Dogfight Arena anymore!”

Ye Qing shook his head and said, ”She didn’t help me.”

”What?” Li Lianshan was taken aback for a moment, then laughed and said, ”You’ve learned to joke now, huh? If she didn’t help you, how did you get hold of so many people to deal with the ones outside? Hurting over fifty people and dragging them all in here, that’s not something you can do without a couple hundred men.”

Ye Qing chuckled and said, ”Do I really need that many people to do this kind of thing?”

”If not manpower, then what do you need?” Li Lianshan asked curiously.

Ye Qing gestured with his hand and said, ”Money will do the trick!”

”Money will do the trick?” Li Lianshan was even more bewildered, not understanding what Ye Qing meant.

At that moment, Black Bear walked in from outside.

”Boss, it’s done. One thousand per person, that’s fifty thousand in total. Add in travel expenses and a few cartons of cigarettes, and it’s around eighty or ninety thousand,” Black Bear said, clearly pained by the expense.

Ye Qing laughed and said, ”As long as the job’s done well, that’s what counts. For the money, go see Old Li for reimbursement!”

”That’s right, Boss Li, you gotta cover this!” Black Bear immediately turned to Li Lianshan and said, ”Ninety thousand yuan, round it up to a clean hundred thousand, right?”

”How come it’s a hundred thousand now?” Li Lianshan was completely confused, still not grasping what had happened.

”The fee for the crowd actors,” Black Bear said.

”What crowd actors? What are you two talking about?” Li Lianshan waved his hands and said, ”No more secrets, just tell me straight!”

”Forget it, let’s just take Li downstairs to see for himself,” Ye Qing said with a light smile, leading Li Lianshan down to the underground parking lot.

As soon as they entered the underground parking lot, they saw a group of forty or fifty people gathered together eating. They had bloodstains on them and looked injured, clearly the same bunch of people who had just been hauled out of the van earlier.

Li Lianshan’s eyes nearly popped out of his head as he pointed incredulously at them and said, ”What... What... What’s going on here?”

”Crowd actors!” Black Bear pointed at the group and said, ”They are the migrant workers borrowed by Cheng Shuang from a contractor who’s his cousin. Came all the way from another province, spent over ten hours on the road!”

”What migrant workers? What about being from another province?” Li Lianshan’s head was spinning as he asked, ”What in the world is happening? I’m getting more and more confused!”

”Ah, you, your brain works slower than mine!” Black Bear said. ”Haven’t you figured it out yet? These guys aren’t hoodlums, they’re migrant workers. The blood on them is makeup, they’re not really injured.”

”Not injured?” Li Lianshan walked up to one of the men and tugged at his clothes. Sure enough, there was no smell of blood on the clothing; the red was just pigment, and they weren’t injured at all!

”We didn’t actually send anyone to hurt those people surrounding the Dog Field. These guys are just to deceive Yue Gaoyang and Shangguan Qing!” Ye Qing chuckled and said, ”The effect was good, they really fell for it!”

Li Lianshan scratched his head and said, ”Are you saying that everything you’ve said was made up, that Huangfu Ziyu didn’t actually help you, and you didn’t really hurt those people outside. All of it was a ruse created using these migrant workers? There wasn’t any actual conflict, and you didn’t disperse the crowd outside the Dog Field?”

”Exactly!” Ye Qing nodded, then turned to Black Bear and said, ”He finally gets it!”
