The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 901: Chapter 901 Miss Wei’s Betrothal

Shu Yu came back somewhat late; everyone else had already arrived home, even Meng Yunzheng and Zhao Xi were there.

Listening to their conversation, it seemed that everyone was aware of the news about Sanya learning medical skills from Zhao Xi. At this moment, Sanya was surrounded by the group, evidently the center of the topic.

Shu Yu didn’t go over to join them; instead, she went to the kitchen to help with cooking dinner.

She saw Daya there, but her expression seemed a bit dazed.

Shu Yu was puzzled, wondering what could have happened?

She walked over to Daya to help pick vegetables, and while picking, she asked, ”Sister, have you met Miss Wei?”

”Ah? Mm, I have met her.”

”What’s the matter, didn’t you two have a good chat?”

Daya shook her head, smiling, ”No, that’s not it. We haven’t seen each other for so long; Ah Lan kept me around all afternoon, eager to ask and talk about everything that has happened these days, especially curious about you becoming the Village Chief. Now, everyone in the county town knows about it.”

”Then what are you thinking about?”

Daya pursed her lips and said softly, ”Ah Lan told me, she’s engaged.”

Shu Yu was startled, ”Engaged?”

”Mm, the wedding will probably be in two months.”

Shu Yu nodded, not surprised by this. After all, Wei Lan had not gone through the hardships Daya had. When she learned the truth, she was just a few months into her marriage; although she was greatly shocked, she was able to adjust quickly with the comfort and protection of her family.

The Wei family’s conditions weren’t bad, and as the only girl in the family, she was naturally doted on and cherished. They would also help her find another good family to marry into.

It’s also been almost a year since her annulment, so getting engaged now is not considered too early.

”Do you think there’s something wrong with the groom’s family?” Why else would she have such an expression?

Daya immediately denied, ”Of course not, I haven’t even met the groom, how could I know if he’s good or not? It’s just that, it’s just...” As she spoke, her voice trailed off, ”Ah Lan keeps advising me, telling me to let go of the past. Honestly, I no longer care about Zhang Shu. After all that’s happened, in my heart, Zhang Shu is just a minor character.”

She’s someone who has seen the world and is protected by her family; she already feels that all the past events are very far away from her.

But...

”Ah Lan said she wants to introduce me to her elder brother. She also said that next time she visits our home, she’ll bring her brother along for me to see.”

Daya immediately rejected the idea, stating she only wishes to earn and save money, to learn more skills. But Wei Lan thought she hadn’t moved on and kept persuading her for a long time, even thinking that Daya wanted to keep herself busy to forget the past pain.

No matter how Daya explained, it was no use, and she felt very troubled.

Shu Yu knew that after her identity was exposed, such matters were inevitable, but who would have thought that Wei Lan would be the first to bring it up.

She opened her mouth to say something, when suddenly a tense voice came from beside her, ”You agreed?”

Shu Yu and Daya turned their heads sharply to see Zhao Xi standing at the door.

He stepped in quickly, asking urgently, ”You, you agreed to meet her elder brother?”

Daya was stunned, subconsciously shaking her head.

Zhao Xi then let out a long sigh of relief, ”It’s good that you didn’t agree. I’m telling you, most men nowadays are unreliable. Some may seem upright on the surface but are actually very sordid inside. If you want to get married, you should find someone whose background you know well; making a decision just after one meeting is absolutely not dependable.”
