The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 926: Chapter 926: Disappear from My Sight

The villagers immediately made way, and no one dared to speak.

Ge Qifei’s face flushed with humiliation, ”What are you doing, Monarch Lu Xiang?”

Shu Yu stood on the steps, looking down at him, ”Don’t you recognize me? Just now, you were pretending to be naive and ignorant. You said the decision to call off the engagement was made by your parents, were you locked up then?”

”...Yes.”

”So why aren’t you locked up now?”

Ge Qifei’s lips pursed, he steadied himself as he stood, ”After calling off the engagement, naturally, my parents no longer needed to keep me confined.”

”Oh, so you’re saying after the engagement was called off, you were free. Then why didn’t you come to apologize and seek forgiveness from Lanhua, to clear the misunderstanding? At that time, everyone was blaming Lanhua for the broken engagement, yet I didn’t see you come forward to hurt for her, to protect her. Why parade your deep affection now, timed so conveniently when I have become the village chief?”

Ge Qifei’s complexion shifted slightly, and the other villagers started murmuring.

Shu Yu, uninterested in his responses, waved her hand in warning, ”Once the engagement is called off, it’s off. If you keep pestering like this, don’t blame me for being rude.”

”Monarch Lu Xiang, I just want to see Lanhua once, she...”

”Just because you say you want to see her, you can? What nerve you have; Lanhua has been so hurt by the broken engagement, she dares not even leave the house, and you still have the face to meet her? Disappear from my sight right now!!”

The cold severity in her eyes frightened Ge Qifei, especially as Ying Xi silently drew a dagger from his waist, the blade shimmering coldly, looking exceptionally sharp.

Ge Qifei swallowed hard and turned to run.

Shu Yu scoffed, ”Isn’t he running quite sprightly? I thought he might be injured, given how pathetic he looks.”

Everyone suddenly realized the irony, indeed, how could someone injured run so fast?

Shu Yu glanced at Ying Xi who silently sheathed the dagger again.

The dagger was very useful, sharp and exquisite, and felt good in the hand. It was bought by Shu Yu for her just yesterday when they went shopping, not just for her but Ying Dong as well; Ying Xi really liked it.

Ge Qifei fled, but Shu Yu signaled Ying Xi with her eyes. Only then she turned around, just as she was about to knock, the gate opened.

Madam Li ran out, upon seeing Shu Yu, she hurriedly came forward with a smile, ”Oh, it’s Yu! I was wondering why I heard a familiar voice, I didn’t expect it to be really you, come in, come in quickly.”

”Eldest Aunt.” Shu Yu nodded, and proceeded inside.

Just then, several people came running from a distance, ”Monarch Lu Xiang.”

Turning her head, Shu Yu saw it was village chief Fan Zhong who had arrived.

Fan Zhong must have run fast, as he was still panting heavily, but his face was lit with an excited smile.

It seems these past few days have been quite enjoyable for him.

”Why has Monarch Lu Xiang come at this time? Is it about the repairs for the ancestral graves? Your Eldest Uncle has already spoken to me about it; we are just picking out the dates.”

Shu Yu nodded, ”Yes, it is partly for that, and also to recruit some helpers from the village.”

”Recruit helpers?” Fan Zhong was taken aback, ”Recruit for what?”

”Didn’t the emperor gift me a residence before? Now I am planning to refurbish it thoroughly to settle in. My father said that the uncles in the village are all trustworthy, which gives peace of mind, so he asked me to see if we could recruit a few people to help.”

Before Fan Zhong could react, the surrounding villagers were already becoming excited, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, do you need people to work on the house? Can anyone join? Then we all want to go.”
