The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 911: Chapter 911: The Martial Arts Meeting Girl

How many servants? There’s no set number; it mainly depends on suitability.

Before Shu Yu could answer, Ding Yuehua had already begun calculating for her.

”Your family now has two mule carriages; you’ll need to buy a horse carriage for outings, which would appropriately require at least three coachmen. You’ve got to maintain the Village Chief’s prestige,” Ding Yuehua said in a low voice.

”Then there’s the kitchen maid and assistant cook; even with a small household, you’d need three. You should have two maids by your side, and don’t forget your Grandmother, your parents, your sisters and brothers—they all need attendants around them. Plus the house servants for sweeping and cleaning, gatekeepers for the front and back, as well as the steward. Though I’ve never been to your big house, I know it’s not small and just cleaning it requires a lot of people.”

Shu Yu, ”...I don’t have enough fingers to count them all.”

She rubbed her temples and spoke softly, ”Two coachmen would be enough, but making three people work in the kitchen is necessary.”

Shu Yu didn’t like having too many people around her, preferring to drive the carriage herself when going out, unless necessary. It was more comfortable, and it was convenient for handling secret affairs.

As for the others, after one trip to the southwest, aside from the old lady and the two children, the rest could drive carriages themselves.

So, two coachmen would be sufficient.

”My parents aren’t used to being served by others at the moment; they feel uneasy with people constantly following them, so there’s no rush. We will see if they get used to having servants at home in the future. As for Grandmother, she indeed needs an old woman to help take care of her. As for Sanya and Dahu, if there aren’t suitable candidates, we won’t choose any. But we do need house servants for cleaning and gatekeeping.”

Ding Yuehua was surprised. By this count, not many people were needed at all.

”Won’t that be too few?”

Shu Yu shook her head, ”After all, we’ve just started hiring servants; having too many makes them harder to manage. I’ll be very busy later and sometimes not at home, leaving everything to the old lady. Fewer people are better; too many can cause chaos. And if there are some with bad intentions, they might overpower the master.”

Thinking of the Lu family’s background, old lady Lu family’s came from a farming household. Some servants who judged status by the quality of food might look down on her and deceive her.

Considering this, Ding Yuehua no longer pressed the issue.

Just then, the broker came over to invite them to the backyard, saying that everyone had arrived.

The agency was quite big. As soon as Shu Yu and her companion reached the backyard, they saw many people gathered there.

The broker smiled and said, ”Mrs. Fan, shall I show you around to see what kind of servants you need?”

”It’s Yu’s family who needs people; introduce them to her.”

The broker immediately shifted his gaze, silently observing Shu Yu for a moment, certain he had never seen this young woman before.

However, she had a close relationship with Mrs. Fan, which indicated she was not of simple origin.

He stepped back and followed Shu Yu, whispering, ”Miss, do you have any preferences?”

Shu Yu thought for a while, ”Do you have any maids skilled in martial arts?”

This was a high requirement; Shu Yu wanted to see if she could find one here.

She needed a maid with good physical fitness and preferably the ability to defend herself by her side.

After all, she spent all day out and about; if she had a maid who got winded walking a few steps, that wouldn’t be a convenience, it would be a hassle.

The broker hesitated, then with some difficulty replied, ”That... we really don’t have.”

Shu Yu felt a bit disappointed, but she continued to look around until she saw a girl in the corner who was looking at Ding Yuehua with a surprised face.
