The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 912: Chapter 912: This Young Lady Has a Skill

Shu Yu found it odd and whispered to Ding Yuehua, ”Do you know that girl?”

Ding Yuehua waved her hand to dismiss the broker who was about to introduce them, then pulled Shu Yu aside to a corner and said in a low voice, ”That maid was just sold off by the Fan family not too long ago.”

Shu Yu glanced at the maid, ”Did she cause trouble?”

Ding Yuehua’s expression was somewhat indescribable as she slightly shook her head and said, ”Not exactly trouble. That girl had previously learned back-opening massage and the skills to soothe the meridians and had always been attending to Grandmother. The old lady had made some muddled decisions in the past, disliking it here, so she went to the Manor outside of town to retire.”

Muddled decisions? Shu Yu raised her eyebrows.

Continuing, Ding Yuehua said, ”At the end of last year, when I got married, Grandmother came back, bringing the Maid with her. An old woman in charge at the Fan family took quite good care of this maid and went to my mother-in-law suggesting that since the maid was at a marriageable age, it might be time to find a match for her. My mother-in-law agreed and let the maid stay at the Fan family, then sent another servant to accompany Grandmother back to the Manor.”

As she said this, Ding Yuehua glanced at the maid and sighed, ”But as you can see, this person is quite charming and pretty. My Grandmother hadn’t yet found someone for her when my Eldest Uncle took a fancy to her. This led to my Sister-in-law taking a strong disliking to the girl, and at the first opportunity, found fault with her and sold her off.”

The Sister-in-law in the Fan family initially wanted to sell her to a brothel, since she had the skill in massage, which would be valued there.

It was the old woman in charge who pleaded with Mrs. Fan, saying after all she had served the old lady, and it would be shameful to have such an end within half a year of her return, it might reflect poorly on Mrs. Fan for being discontent with the old lady to the point of not sparing even her personal Maid.

Thus, the Maid was spared the fate of being sent to a brothel, but was still sold to this agency, her future uncertain.

Upon hearing this, Shu Yu couldn’t help but fall into deep thought.

Skilled in massaging and soothing meridians...

Of late, she would occasionally notice the old lady revealing signs of weariness and stiffness; having someone knowledgeable to help massage her might afford her a lot of relief.

The old lady had toiled her whole life, and now that the circumstances allowed, it was right for her to enjoy some comforts.

Shu Yu then asked, ”What is this maid’s name? How is her character?”

Ding Yuehua was surprised, ”You want her?”

”Somewhat interested.”

Ding Yuehua pondered, ”I didn’t have much contact with her, but she seems honest and dutiful.” After thinking for a bit, she signaled Xiao Yun to come over and asked her, ”How is Hua Xian as a person?”

”Hua Xian is quite nice, she speaks gently and patiently, and usually keeps a low profile without trying to get too close to her masters. I once accidentally overheard her talking with the old woman in charge, saying that the Eldest Young Master was smitten with her, but she didn’t want to become a concubine and was hoping the old woman in charge could help dissuade him. Unfortunately, before anything could be done...”

Understanding the situation, Shu Yu said, ”Then let’s go with her. After all, she has a skill.”

If there’s no significant issue with her character, then someone with skills is certainly more sought after.

Shu Yu approached the broker to make a selection for Hua Xian, and the broker immediately brought her out.

After Shu Yu asked a few questions and saw that her communication was fine and her attitude was quite gentle, she decided to take her on.

Hua Xian looked a bit surprised and couldn’t help but glance at Ding Yuehua again.

She had a hunch that being chosen by the young lady before her might have something to do with the Young Madam.
