The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 915: Chapter 915: A Few Words to Speak with You

Ying Dong was sitting on the shaft of the carriage while Ying Xi sat inside, very restrained, adhering to a listen more, talk less attitude, exceptionally quiet.

Shu Yu soon went to the shops and placed orders for quite a lot of goods, asking the shop owners to deliver them directly to their house.

Now that the weather had become much warmer, there was no need for thick bedding. In addition, there were kitchen utensils such as pots and pans, not just for the use of the new servants but also to prepare for the return of the day laborers.

Besides these, there were also rice, flour, grains, and oils to stock up on while there was time to do so.

By the time they had finished buying everything, it was already after noon. Shu Yu let out a sigh of relief and then went with Ying Dong and Ying Xi to dine at a restaurant with Ding Yuehua and the others before slowly heading to Fenghuai Street in the carriage.

The gate of the large estate was open, and as Shu Yu pushed it open and entered, she saw the four members of the Lin Family busily cleaning.

Upon seeing Shu Yu return, they were momentarily stunned but quickly moved to pay their respects.

Shu Yu waved her hand dismissively, ”No need for formalities. Where’s Dad?”

As soon as her words fell, Lu Erbai’s voice came from the veranda, ”Yu, you’ve arrived.”

Shu Yu lifted her eyes to look, and Lu Erbai was already striding over.

On seeing this, Ding Yuehua said to her, ”Yu, you go ahead and chat, I haven’t had a chance to look around your big house yet, I’ll take a stroll inside.”

”Go ahead.” She also suggested Ying Dong and Ying Xi take a look around.

When everyone had left, she asked Lu Erbai, ”Dad, have you met everyone? Have you had lunch?”

”Yes, I’ve eaten. The rice, flour, grains, and oils you ordered were delivered early, so I had the kitchen set up first. We’ve just arrived, so we made some simple noodles to eat. Now everyone is tidying up.”

Lu Erbai nodded then added in a quieter voice, ”But Yu, don’t you think we’ve got too many people?”

Nineteen of them, and there would be some to spare even if each had two people following them.

Shu Yu shook her head, ”Yuehua even said it was too few. If I hadn’t strenuously objected, she would have insisted on checking at least another ten or eight to bring with me.”

Lu Erbai was suddenly at a loss for words; the way big households thought was indeed different from his own.

But since the people were already bought, Lu Erbai didn’t say much more, ”Then later, you’ll arrange some work for them?”

”For now, let them help around here, and we’ll see after the manor is repaired. As for Ying Xi, I will keep her by my side to help with things. She’s the girl who was following me earlier, and the other is her older brother, Ying Dong. Both siblings are quite capable. I got to know them on the way here, and they seem good. Ying Dong knows how to read, so if you have anything that needs doing, you can rely on him.”

Ying Dong, at twenty years old this year, might have also studied in his childhood perhaps when they were still at the escort agency.

After pausing, she added, ”By the way, I’m also taking Hua Xian to Liufang Alley. Her massage techniques are good, so I’m having her try it out on Grandmother. After that, she can return to the Manor with Ying Xi for a rest.”

The houses in Liufang Alley were insufficient for accommodation, so they would have to stay in the large estate.

Lu Erbai nodded, showing his understanding.

At this moment, the servants who had heard of Shu Yu’s return also came out one after another, each standing respectfully and apprehensively in front of her.

Shu Yu glanced over them, noting they still appeared energetic.

She turned to them and asked, ”Is everyone here now?”

”Yes, Village Chief, everyone’s here,” was the response.

Shu Yu hummed a response, ”Since everyone’s here, then I have a few words I’d like to say to you all.”

At her seriousness, the crowd couldn’t help feeling a bit anxious.
