The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 902: Chapter 902: Really Didn’t See That Coming

Shu Yu listened in and felt like laughing; she could tell that Daya might actually have feelings for Zhao Xi.

If that was the case, why not let them have a proper chat?

Thinking this, Shu Yu reached out and pulled both Madam Ruan and Zhou Qiao, who were in the kitchen as well, out with her.

However, once they were outside, it suddenly occurred to her that the stove was still on with the fire burning behind it.

She hurriedly pulled them back inside, and then pushed Daya and Zhao Xi out, ”Alright, you two have a good talk here.”

Afterward, she clapped her hands and went back to the kitchen herself.

Everyone, ”...”

Madam Ruan finally caught on and leaned in to Shu Yu, whispering, ”That, Doctor Zhao, is he, is he interested in Daya...”

Shu Yu nodded, ”Yes.”

Madam Ruan’s eyes widened as she turned to look at the door.

She really hadn’t noticed; although Zhao Xi was close to their family, he had barely spent any time alone with Daya. Whenever she visited their home, she would either look for Yu or Sanya, always discussing official matters. She and Daya hardly spoke a few words altogether, letting no hint of interest in Daya show.

Madam Ruan murmured, ”I really couldn’t tell.”

”Even the eldest sister herself didn’t notice, let alone you folks.” Only she was clever and capable enough to see through Zhao Xi’s disguise.

Shu Yu was quite pleased with her own sharpness.

Madam Ruan, ”When did this happen?”

Shu Yu continued picking vegetables, ”Back when we were in the southwest.”

”That early?”

”Otherwise, why wouldn’t Doctor Zhao take Sanya as his apprentice? Isn’t it because of the seniority issue?”

Madam Ruan was even more astonished; so Sanya becoming Doctor Zhao’s junior sister also had this consideration?

Seeing Madam Ruan still in a daze, seemingly shocked and unable to recover, Shu Yu wiped her hands and said softly, ”Mother, let’s not interfere with this matter. Let Zhao Xi deal with it himself, and we’ll just oversee it from a distance. If the elder sister herself is not willing, then let Zhao Xi give up this intention. If the elder sister doesn’t mind, we can see how it develops.”

Madam Ruan nodded repeatedly, ”Of course, your father and I would never force Daya.”

The incident with Zhang Shu was still fresh; Madam Ruan felt a shiver remembering Daya’s thin, listless eyes without a speck of light in them back then.

Although unmarried girls of the day would be gossiped about, if marriage meant risking their lives, she would rather have her daughter stay at home her whole life.

Therefore, although Daya was getting older and her divorce was approaching a year, their family had not mentioned her marriage even once.

Madam Ruan was quite satisfied with Zhao Xi.

If he and Daya could end up together, it wouldn’t be a bad outcome.

Thinking of this, Madam Ruan gradually calmed down, ”Zhao Xi’s character and personality don’t have any issues.”

”Let’s not talk about this in front of the elder sister, to avoid putting pressure on her.”

”Mother understands.” Madam Ruan nodded repeatedly.

Shu Yu then looked up at Zhou Qiao standing next to her, who immediately took on a serious expression, ”I won’t speak of it either.”

She had met Zhao Xi for the first time today; she only knew that he was a doctor with great medical skills and had a good relationship with her uncles’ family.

Such conditions were quite good already.

Having spoken her piece, Shu Yu returned to her tasks at hand, and the kitchen soon filled only with the sounds of rustling and crackling.

Meanwhile, Zhao Xi and Daya, who had been sent outside by Shu Yu, were somewhat disheveled by the sudden turn of events.
