The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 932: Chapter 932: Someone Blocks the Way

Shu Yu looked towards that person, who just now seemed to introduce himself as He Ping, a brother who had a good relationship with her own father.

Shu Yu smiled and said, ”Uncle He, you’re overstating things. In fact, we are not at a loss. Though it includes food and accommodation, you don’t need to go back early, so the working hours will surely be extended. Moreover, the mansion we are repairing is more refined than ordinary houses, so the hard work is inevitable. Such conditions are reasonable.”

Upon hearing this, everyone exchanged glances, feeling in their hearts that this was done for their convenience.

Fan Zhong, who was standing to the side, decisively ended the discussion, ”Alright, enough dilly-dallying, everyone. You all know that Monarch Lu Xiang is looking out for you; just keep her kindness in your hearts, that’s enough. In the future, if there’s anything you can help with, that would be stronger than anything else.”

His own son was also in the working crew. How could he undercut the wages? Would that not be foolish?

Shu Yu glanced at him indifferently, then turned her head and explained the situation of the house to everyone again, such as that in addition to them, some workers had been recruited from the county town, who was responsible for the meals, and their accommodation issues, among other things.

When she finished speaking, it was time to dismiss everyone, ”Alright. so it’s settled. Uncles and brothers, you all go back and pack your things first. The house repair might take about a month, and we won’t be able to return within a short period.”

”Fine, fine, then we’ll head back now and leave for the county town early tomorrow morning.”

The crowd gradually left.

Seeing that it was getting late, Fan Zhong invited Shu Yu to have dinner at his home, ”The wife has already prepared the meal, and Monarch Lu Xiang has returned after a long while without having visited my home.”

Shu Yu looked at the cold hearth of Eldest Uncle’s family. Just now, Madam Li was so excited that she completely forgot to cook.

Shu Yu thought, since Fan Zhong had invited her several times, she might as well make a visit.

After dinner, Madam Li’s brothers from her maternal home had just arrived.

Erniu went to Madam Liang’s maternal home and, contrary to expectations, did not return with them.

Upon their arrival, Shu Yu got to know about their situation, and finally settled on the eldest son of Boss of the Li family and Li family’s second son, so both uncle and nephew would have company.

Since there was still time, and since the two brothers had come, they might as well help Lu Dasong finish the farm work before heading back.

Shu Yu couldn’t help but praise the old lady’s good judgment; apart from Madam Li, who was like a crooked-neck tree, the rest of the family was beyond reproach.

It was quite strange. The several brothers and sisters of the Eldest Uncle’s family were also quite good. It was just Eldest Aunt who was the odd one out within and without the family.

Later, Erniu returned, and with him came Madam Liang’s younger brother.

The Liang family decided to send someone, but both he and the Li family brothers declared that they did not want wages.

Of course, Shu Yu would not agree; people need to live, right? Besides, whether it’s Eldest Aunt or the Third Aunt, knowing this, they would not be pleased.

Having settled the matter of hiring workers, Shu Yu learned about the ancestral tomb repairs.

Lu Dasong said that the date had been chosen, but it was set for a month later. By that time, there would be less urgency for farm work, and the villagers could take a couple of days off, so the repairs would be completed quickly.

Shu Yu nodded and left the money for the repairs with Lu Dasong.

Upon seeing that money, Madam Li’s eyes involuntarily brightened.

However, Lu Dasong spoke to Shu Yu very earnestly, ”Rest assured, this is for the ancestral tomb repairs. Eldest Uncle surely will not misuse it. Every expense will be recorded, and any surplus will be returned to you.”

Shu Yu simply smiled, ”Thank you for your hard work, Eldest Uncle.”

Then she left Shangshi Village with Ying Xi, but who knew that just as they left the village entrance, they would be stopped by someone.
