The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 910: Chapter 910: Shu Yu Buys Servants

Shu Yu merely glanced once and quickly retracted her head.

She wasn’t skilled at handling such situations, and she had matters to attend to soon; getting trapped here would mean she couldn’t leave the house.

Luckily, the old lady knew them well. After she let the guests in, Shu Yu took the opportunity to slip out unnoticed.

Her timing was perfect, as Ding Yuehua’s carriage had just arrived at the entrance of the alley.

Seeing her, Ding Yuehua quickly waved her over, ”Yu, this way.”

Shu Yu got straight into the carriage and finally let out a long sigh of relief.

Ding Yuehua laughed as she noticed this, ”What’s the matter, seems like being a Village Chief is quite exhausting.”

”I’m the last person to have patience for social niceties, yet ever since becoming a Village Chief, such things seem inescapable.”

Ding Yuehua could relate, ”Me too, I’d rather handle my stores and do business outside than go flower viewing and paying social visits with my mother, chatting and laughing – it’s so meaningless.”

After saying this, she exchanged a glance with Shu Yu and couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

This was the reason the two could become friends; in truth, they both preferred the joy of making money out in the world.

Speaking of Mother Ding, Shu Yu recalled that she had banged her head yesterday and asked with concern, ”Is your mother all right?”

”She’s fine, she just stumbled yesterday morning and fell, hitting her head. The doctor said there’s no serious harm, just to rest for a couple of days, and if she feels uncomfortable, to see how it goes.”

That was good to hear.

Ding Yuehua did not dwell on Mother Ding’s incident and asked Shu Yu which agency she intended to visit.

There were private agencies as well as official ones in Jiangyuan County, four in total.

Shu Yu wanted to check out the nearest private agency first; if there were no suitable candidates, she would go to the farther ones.

Ding Yuehua instructed the coachman to head towards the agency. Once they were on the main road, she excitedly began to inquire about Shu Yu’s situation in the southwest.

Especially why she was exiled, which was not known to many.

Ding Yuehua could only speculate based on the timing, guessing it had to do with the exile of the Shu family in Dongan Province, but she didn’t know the specifics.

Shu Yu had already sent out her letter, and at this critical juncture, there was no need for secrets, so she shared everything she could.

Ding Yuehua listened in astonishment, ”I had no idea you had such a background. That Mrs. Xue from the Shu family really is horrible, and the Shu family too, just inhumane. What about now? Are those people from the Shu family still in the southwest?”

”Of course, the Imperial Decree of His Majesty has severed my ties with the Shu family; their crimes naturally have nothing to do with me anymore.”

Ding Yuehua was pleased, ”They got what they deserved.”

As they talked, the carriage stopped in front of the agency.

”Monarch Lu Xiang, miss, we’ve arrived at the agency.”

Shu Yu was the first to alight from the carriage, and immediately someone from the agency approached her with eager attentiveness.

This person did not recognize Shu Yu, but when Ding Yuehua alighted afterward, he immediately smiled and said, ”Ah, it turns out to be Mrs. Fan, what an honored guest. Please, come inside.”

Ding Yuehua spoke to him, ”We’re looking to select some servants; gather everyone in the yard for us to take a look.”

”Yes, yes, honored guests, please come inside. I’ll go call them now.”

Ding Yuehua stepped aside, letting Shu Yu go in first, then followed her in.

Shu Yu looked around the agency; it appeared quite substantial – a small storefront in front, but a whole row of buildings in the back courtyard, quite impressive.

The agency’s staff asked them to sit for a moment and served them tea before turning to summon the others.

Ding Yuehua had not had the chance to ask earlier, and taking the opportunity now, she quietly inquired of Shu Yu, ”Yu, how many servants do you plan on hiring?”
