The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 940: Chapter 940: Found the Right Manor

Shu Yu observed her father’s well-organized arrangements, so she didn’t join in but instead went to look at Craftsman Zheng’s drawings.

Having been told yesterday that the drawings had been revised, she wanted to see what had changed.

Upon inspection, she noticed that the modifications were to the layout of the backyard, specifically the pond there.

The pond water was originally stagnant, but Craftsman Zheng discovered that there was a waterway beneath it to turn the pond’s stagnant water into flowing water.

Of course, flowing water was better than stagnant water. Lu Erbai and Craftsman Zheng then reevaluated the situation, considering where would be best to start the work.

As they were the professionals in this area, it was enough for Shu Yu to be briefed on the matter.

However, this would also mean an increase in costs. Shu Yu wasn’t worried; she told them to go ahead with the work, and if money was short, she would borrow some.

She said this, but in reality, she had tens of thousands of taels, which was more than enough to flip the pond over.

Just as she was thinking this, she saw someone come rushing over in an excited manner.

”Yu...”

Lifting her eyes, Shu Yu saw that it was Daniu.

”Yu, I’ve looked over several manors, and there’s one that seems really suitable. Do you want to go take a look?”

Daniu had been helping her search for a manor these past few days, and in such a short time he seemed to have tanned a shade darker.

Shu Yu’s eyes lit up slightly, ”You’ve found a suitable place?”

”Yes, but it’s a bit of a distance from here.”

It was because of the distance that he couldn’t return before the city gates closed yesterday, forcing him to stay outside the city for the night. Once the gates opened today, he rushed back to the shop, took a bath, changed clothes, informed his wife, and then headed straight to Liufang Alley.

Knowing that Shu Yu was here, he redirected and ran to Fenghuai Street.

Distance was not an issue for Shu Yu; as long as the location was right, it didn’t matter if it wasn’t as far as the prefecture.

”Let’s go take a look right now then.”

She returned the drawings to Craftsman Zheng and informed Lu Erbai, then she hurried off with Daniu.

The villagers from Shangshi Village who had been working on the side were all momentarily stunned; they intended to greet Daniu, but right after he said a word, he ran off.

Someone quietly asked Lai Jinhai, ”What is this manor Daniu mentioned? Do you know?”

Of course, Lai Jinhai had no idea, which caused him to subconsciously chase after them for a few steps.

”Daniu.”

Daniu paused in his steps, turned his head, and looked surprised to see him, ”Brother-in-law, what are you doing here?”

Lai Jinhai explained, ”We are all here to renovate the big house, not just me, your uncle and cousin are here too.”

Daniu suddenly understood, but he didn’t have time for pleasantries, so he said, ”Brother-in-law, you guys are staying here these days, right?”

Seeing Lai Jinhai nod, he continued, ”Alright, I’ll come back to see you later. I have something to deal with right now and need to leave the city.”

”Alright, go ahead with your work, we can catch up later when you’re free.”

The two conversed as they walked. When they reached the screen wall, Lai Jinhai stopped.

Daniu, however, walked around it, taking two or three steps to the doorway.

There, he saw Shu Yu standing still at the door; puzzled, he approached her, ”Yu, what’s the matter?”

Shu Yu narrowed her eyes and looked towards the corner outside the door, shouting coldly, ”Come out!”

Daniu was stunned, turned abruptly, and seeing no one at the empty corner, his brows furrowed slightly, ”Is there an attacker?”

Ying Xi, who had been by Shu Yu’s side, drew the dagger from his waist and was about to head over when Shu Yu grabbed him.
