The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 919: Chapter 919: Buying Yiren Pavilion

Shu Yu paused, the shop matter?

”Is Lord Yu’s shop no longer for rent?”

Lord Yu quickly waved his hand, ”No, no, no, I want to give that shop to Monarch Lu Xiang, as an apology for the trouble caused to the Lu family due to my previous lack of management over the servants.”

Shu Yu, ”...” There really wasn’t a need.

Shu Yu shook her head, ”I cannot accept rewards without merit, and there is nothing to apologize for, especially since the rent Lord Yu previously offered us was not high, which was already taking care of us.”

If Lord Yu had been this generous last year, she definitely would not have refused, and could have showered him with endless flattery.

But now, giving it away would sound wrong to others.

She, a newly appointed Village Chief, accepting a shop just after two days would be seen as bribery.

Besides, she wasn’t short on money now, and wasn’t so superficial.

Lord Yu looked distressed, ”To tell you the truth, Monarch, that shop has some bad memories for me, and I’ve seen that the ready-to-wear clothes shop you opened is doing pretty well. I’ve also been to that shop; you’ve renovated it beautifully and uniquely. If...

”How about this, I’ll buy it,” said Shu Yu. ”If Lord Yu is really willing to sell, then I’ll buy that shop. How does that sound?”

At the end, she added, ”At the market price.”

Lord Yu choked, feeling uncomfortable that the shop he wanted to give away couldn’t be given away.

But Shu Yu insisted, ”Lord Yu, I’m not lacking money. As you said, I did put effort into renovating the shop, and indeed, I am reluctant to let go. But to receive the shop for nothing, my conscience would not be clear. If you want to sell, I’ll buy; otherwise, let’s forget it.”

Seeing that she wasn’t pretending to refuse in hopes of getting a better offer, Lord Yu was secretly relieved.

This girl wasn’t the kind to act arrogantly upon sudden gains of power, so he was rather reassured.

”Alright, it’s a deal.”

Shu Yu smiled, and the two finally began discussing the sale of the shop.

Lord Yu still wanted to lower the price, but since Shu Yu mentioned the market price, that was final.

The shops on Ningshui Street were not cheap; that area was the busiest part of Jiangyuan County.

But Yiren Pavilion was at the end of the street, and the shop was not very big, so its price wouldn’t be too high.

According to the real estate prices in Jiangyuan County, Shu Yu finally bought the shop for five hundred taels.

Lord Yu sighed while holding the silver notes, surprised that not even a single coin was missing.

He handed the house deed to Shu Yu, and both parties went to the Office to transfer ownership, and thus the Lu family acquired their first shop.

Shu Yu held the house deed as she parted ways with Lord Yu at the Office entrance.

She looked at the twins who seemed very dependent on Lord Yu, well-behaved and healthy looking.

After saying goodbye to Lord Yu, Shu Yu slowly made her way home.

Everyone else had already returned, only Lu Erbai was missing; he probably went south of the city to ask the Fourth Uncle about hiring apprentices.

The old lady told everyone to start dinner, ”Your father said he won’t be back for dinner tonight, so we won’t wait for him.”

It was clear that everyone already knew the shop had been bought; they were all very excited.

Amused, Shu Yu showed the house deed to them, and after satisfying everyone’s curiosity, she put it away.

Shu Yu intended to give this shop to Daya. If Daya and Zhao Xi really ended up together, then the shop would be her dowry.

Although it was odd for a younger sister to prepare a dowry for an older sister, Shu Yu wasn’t particular about such things.
