My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1431: Chapter 1226: Future Prospects?

Who doesn’t want to have a bright future, whose life is truly smooth sailing.

”Zhentian, in reality, there are some things deep inside your heart that you know clearly, those things can’t be forgotten just by wanting to. Just like what I did to you today, saying these words to you, you think you can take them as nothing, but doesn’t your heart feel conflicted? Doesn’t your heart feel hurt at all?

I believe your heart is hurting just the same, because you are a man, and the dignity a man should have means you don’t want your wife to be desired by anyone else, nor do you want your wife to have another man in her heart, especially when that man is not you. To you, this is an immense insult.

Throughout these years, I’ve seen your genuine affection for me. But I’ve always chosen to avoid your sincerity, turning a blind eye to it, and every piece of advice you gave me that was difficult to hear, I ignored completely. I know it’s truly unfair to you to act this way, but there are things I can’t change, and I can only confront you with this approach because maybe only this way you will slowly let go of me.

I once read a book called ”Letting Go is Also a Kind of Beauty,” letting go is a form of fulfillment. Do you know how shocked I was when I read this book? I wondered why others could let go so perfectly, turn away perfectly, even though at that moment of turning, tears filled their face, but they still could leave resolutely. But why can’t I?

If, back when you pursued me, I had resolutely turned my gaze, would there be no tragedy today, would you not be hurt so deeply by me? All of this is my own fault, but it ultimately made you bear this pain along with me. I truly feel sorry.

Some things cannot be let go truly. You cannot forget the past, and the things I’ve said to you, you have no way to forget either. Since this is the case, why do we need to force ourselves to be entangled together, with guilt and unrest in our hearts? Is this the life we want? Isn’t this just pushing each other closer to a dead end, not realizing what we’ve done wrong, what choices we’ve made until the moment when there’s no way back, and those choices bring what consequences, did we get what we wanted in this life!”

Zhang Zhentian understands what his wife means by saying these things to him in the end, she just wants him to let go and fulfill her wish to leave him, but for him, isn’t it the hardest thing in the world?

”Maybe you’re right, but to me, there’s no way to fulfill this. Maybe it’s because I lack such great magnanimity, but you know, every time I think about letting go of the woman I’ve cherished and cared for tens of years, she won’t be mine anymore, my heart feels stabbed by a knife, I can’t bear that pain, I also don’t want you to suffer the same pain as me. I just want us to have a stable life together, is it really that difficult? Can’t we both have a way out, a retreat?

You think I can’t let go of your past, but today I’m telling you clearly, as long as you are willing to try to give me a chance, try to love me, try to stay by my side!

Then I’m willing to give up all the past for you, consider everything from before as if it never happened, I will still love you as before, stay by your side, never leave until we share the rest of our lives.”

Maybe you don’t believe what I’m saying now, but you know? Every word I say to you comes from my heart, I’ve never wanted to deceive you, even if you’ve lied to me so much, I still believe in you, I’m still willing to make choices that seem unwise to everyone for you, decisions that aren’t the smartest, but I just want you by my side, I’ve gone to such lengths, I believe you won’t be as cold-hearted as before, knowing you have feelings for me yet still refusing me.”

Zhang Yichen heard his father speaking, and he felt a bit conflicted inside. His heart trembled along with it, even his father could put aside prejudices for his wife, his lover, then why couldn’t he? His wife was someone he had spent 10 years searching for, that kind of emotion can’t just be severed, shouldn’t he make some sacrifices for her too? Should he really be so obstinate, letting his major life affairs be ruined by these trivial matters?

Perhaps only by truly letting go of the past can that be the best choice for their future together, maybe only then will everyone truly understand what they want out of life, why they’re making certain choices, maybe those choices will make their lives greatly beneficial, or maybe those choices will leave them burdened in debt.

Ran Zhihan also had some thoughts, wondering why both her parents could reach this point while her husband was unwilling to let go of some past prejudices?

If her husband could do so, how wonderful life would be, how happy her life could truly be for the rest of her days, no one could know.

”Zhentian, some things can’t be let go just by saying so, you should understand, even if you swear here that you can let go of the past, can you really get over that hurdle in your heart?

I don’t want you to do anything reluctantly, I just hope you act according to your heart, hoping you can live happily and joyfully. I don’t mind, I don’t care how painful my life is as long as you can be happy. I owe you too much from before; I never thought of making any changes for you, now I just want to pay a little for you!

Also, I hope you won’t foolishly invest all your emotions into me as before, doing so will truly exhaust you, and one day when I leave, you’ll feel it’s the greatest blow, that’s not the outcome I want to see. What I want is for you to smile at me joyously.

But what you said today truly moved me. Maybe one day I will deeply fall in love with you, and until that day comes, I truly can’t extricate myself, falling deeply. If that day truly comes, I hope you can really let go of all the past as you said today and wholeheartedly live together with me.”

Your future isn’t decided by anyone else; it’s the path we walk ourselves.
