My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1407: Chapter 1211: Never Gave Up (Part 2)

Old Master Zhang heard his grandson say these words, and he knew this matter had spiraled further out of control, but it wasn’t intentional. How could he resolve the hatred between these two people?

”Child, when have I not stood by your side to consider your problems? Once, twice, thrice, I’ve always thought about your safety, but what about you? Have you ever shown me even a bit of gratitude? You say you’re human, you have feelings, you know heartache—doesn’t Grandpa feel heartache, doesn’t he feel sad? Many times, you think your parents have never considered things from your perspective, but you’ve never thought about why they act this way. They hope for you to live well. Child, no matter what happens, never hate your parents, because they aren’t wrong. Their love for you is genuine; they’ve just expressed it the wrong way. This isn’t the first time I’ve told you this. I’ve said it two, three, four times, and I wonder if you’ve taken it to heart. Yet, Grandpa knows, as long as I’ve said it to you, you’re always keeping it in your mind, just choosing whether to act on it or not, uncertain if you should follow what Grandpa says, even more uncertain if you should heed Grandpa’s words...”

Zhang Yichen felt a little embarrassed. He had never seen his grandpa shed a tear, but just now, he saw a glistening tear fall from his grandpa’s eye. He knew his grandpa was crying in sadness, and this sadness was because of him. He felt an inability to forgive himself for his mistakes.

Reflecting back, he realized he had often gone against Grandpa’s wishes, not following what Grandpa said, resulting in today’s situation.

”Grandpa, thank you for your guidance. I understand everything now; honest advice is hard to accept but beneficial. Without your constant teachings, I wouldn’t have today’s achievements. Grandpa, I’ll stick to that: since things have happened, I’ll choose to let them go and never bring them up again. Because for you and for me, it’s like reopening wounds. I don’t want that to happen between us. Grandpa, let’s continue living happily and joyfully as a family!”

Your mother taught me to return good for evil; she also made me understand that some things can’t be viewed too simply.

Ran Zhihan watched Zhang Yichen’s silhouette disappearing before her eyes; she suddenly felt reluctant. She couldn’t understand why, whenever she saw this man, her heart would beat uncontrollably. Could she really be feeling the stirrings of love?

Ran Zhihan deeply hoped she would frequently meet this man she just encountered. She found him eloquent, obviously belonging to high society. She thought he was exceedingly handsome, why did he give her such a feeling of familiarity, and a special closeness too? She couldn’t understand why. Although she’d lost her memory, could it be that she knew this man before her amnesia?

”If destiny truly exists between us, then we’ll surely meet again. I eagerly await the day of our reunion. I wonder if you’ll still remember who I am...” Ran Zhihan murmured to herself at the airport.

After leaving, Zhang Yichen turned back to look at Ran Zhihan. Just like her, he felt he must have known this girl before, or why else would he feel a familial connection upon seeing her? This feeling can’t arise out of nowhere; something must have happened before, yet why couldn’t he remember anything? Suddenly, he felt that losing his memory was a particularly unfortunate thing.

In this moment, Zhang Yichen wished earnestly that heaven would be kind to him, allowing him to instantly recover his lost memories. He hoped to reunite with his beloved, and find the silhouette in his dreams. He continued to wait, longing for destiny’s twist to arrive, and the day his memories would return. But why was that day so reluctant to come?
