My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1415: Chapter 1212: Who Hasn’t Been Hurt? (4)

Sometimes, when you think about it, who wouldn’t say they are doing something for a good reason? But who really knows the truth? Hurting others and then laughing it off — how could things be that easy? Deep down, everyone is hurt and doesn’t know how to face it.

A day later, Ran Zhihan arrived at the airport in the UK. Following the address Xia Jing had given her, she reached Zhang Yichen’s residence. She knocked on the door, and indeed, it was Zhang Yichen who opened it.

When Zhang Yichen saw that the person knocking was his wife, he could hardly believe it. How could his wife have discovered his whereabouts, which he had kept so secret? Could someone have been bold enough to betray his location? He decided he must investigate this thoroughly and find out who dared to sell him out; he would certainly ruin them economically.

”Yichen, I didn’t expect you to really be here. Why are you living here? How could this place be as comfortable as home? Come back with me, let’s never fight again, okay?”

”You make it sound easy. Why didn’t you think about us ending up like this when you were yelling at me? Do you know how much I wished you could be gentle, considerate, kind, and understanding? But why has my wife turned out this way? Go back; I won’t go back with you. I’m fine here, and I don’t want to see you right now. Go away quickly, or else I might hit someone.”

”I won’t leave, not even if you beat me to death. You are my husband; we are legally and rightfully a couple, so how can we live apart? If you want to be separated from me, the law won’t acknowledge it. Come back with me, please. Grandpa misses you, and he knows he shouldn’t have said those words to you. He asked me to tell you that he realizes he was wrong. Don’t be mad at him, Yichen. All these years, Grandpa has never hit you, but this time he acted in the heat of the moment. Don’t blame him; he didn’t mean to hit you. He was just so confused that he didn’t know how to react, which is why he hit you. You should try to understand Grandpa!”

”I understand him, but who understands me? Didn’t I make this decision to be with you? And what about you? What did you say to me?”

”I know saying those words hurt you deeply, but I had no choice. I didn’t want to do it, yet I had to show you that I love you this way. I didn’t want you to have to agree to any unreasonable demands just to be with me. Don’t you know? Even when it comes to my parents, I don’t want you to agree to such conditions. I didn’t think my parents would ask something like this of you, but you shouldn’t have agreed!”

”Then tell me what I should do. To be with you, what else do you want from me? If I didn’t want to be with you, I wouldn’t have sacrificed so much. I’m willing to give up my career of many years for you. And how do you treat me? Just because I agreed to your parents’ terms, you treat me coldly and leave home. Do you still see yourself as a daughter-in-law of the Zhang Family? Do you still have me, your husband, in your heart? Do you care about Grandpa? You tell me to consider him, but have you thought about him? Do you know how hurt he feels from your words? You never consider our pain, and you’ve never thought about the impact your leaving has on us. You always think that everything you do is right, don’t you?”

Ran Zhihan shook her head and said to Zhang Yichen, ”Yichen, there is something I hope you can understand. I never intended to treat you and Grandpa this way. In my heart, you are the most important person to me. I am even willing to abandon my parents for you. I don’t want this to happen between us. I don’t want to break off with my parents just because you agreed to their terms. I know my parents said those things and did what they did for our best interests, and I also know you did it for me, but I still can’t accept it. We’ve been there for each other for years, and can’t that outweigh the trifles my parents demanded? I don’t know what they told you, and I don’t know what you told them. But why did you make a secret pact? Were you planning to keep me in the dark forever? If I hadn’t found out by accident, would you have kept it from me for a lifetime without ever telling me about this bet?”

”I never intended to keep it from you forever. I just hoped to tell you three years later. By then, even if you couldn’t accept it, it would be too late to change anything. After three years, you wouldn’t dwell on it. Am I wrong in thinking this way? I just wanted you to live happily without any worries. Is it wrong for me to consider you so much? I see you as so important and only wish you could stay by my side forever. That’s enough for me. I don’t seek any benefits from you; I don’t ask you to be overly kind, beautiful, or considerate. I just want to see you by my side for a lifetime...”

Ran Zhihan listened to Zhang Yichen’s words, her heart deeply touched. Perhaps it really was her mistake.

”It’s my fault for saying those things to you without understanding the situation and running away from home. Please don’t be angry with me anymore. What can I do to make you forgive me? Do you want me to clean the entire house for you? As long as you forgive me, I can take you home. There are relatives waiting for you with eager anticipation for your triumphant return. Haven’t you negotiated this business deal long enough? Don’t you want to go home? Don’t you want to see your grandpa? Don’t you want to see the elder who raised you and made sacrifices for you? I know no words can make you forgive me now, but I truly realize my mistake. I will never say anything like that to you again. If you come home with me, I will stay for you forever, never seeking my own career again!”

”As long as you are willing to stay at home for me, to accompany Grandpa well, and be by my side forever, I will go home with you!”

Ran Zhihan heard Zhang Yichen’s words and was overjoyed, quickly nodding in agreement to Zhang Yichen.

After that quarrel, when your mother agreed to return home with me, I was so happy. But I ultimately failed to keep her by my side. It was my mistake that made everything so unmanageable.
