My Alleged Husband

Chapter 643: Chapter 622 I Will Let Go_1

Ran Zhihan knew how much the boy before him had sacrificed for him, but it was precisely because he was acutely aware of all this that he had no choice but to choose this way. If he let such feelings continue to develop, things would become unmanageable. If he really wished for such events to unfold before his eyes, why would he bother time and again to exhaust his mind in maintaining the relationship with his husband? What he desired was just the most genuine throbbing of his heart.

Chen Gang, too, knew all this very well in his heart; it was merely his own unilateral thoughts. No matter how much he gave in the end, it was still his own wishful thinking.

All of this was never going to change because of someone’s sudden appearance, nor disappear because of someone’s sudden departure.

What was destined to happen would happen sooner or later. No one’s departure could turn everything back to its original state. The past has become past, and no matter how much regret you have, it will never reset everything to the beginning.

”Chen Gang, there are some words I’ve always had no chance to say, but this sentence is not intended for you. I just want to express my own perspective on life!

No one in this world can achieve perfection. The past should be left to become bygone as time passes. No one should cling to the past and try to hold it back. Time has hurried by and will never return; no one has the great ability to reverse time. But you should also lead the happiest life possible, regardless of the path you ultimately choose, regardless of how much torment you endure. And all the choices are ultimately your own!

Even if your final choices leave you battered and bruised, with nowhere to turn and possibly no peaceful end, if that path was your choice, then what right do you have to regret? Life offers no cure for regret. Once a decision is made, it is made. It won’t change with anyone’s apologetic words!

What has happened is irreversible; the words spoken can never be unsaid. So why bother trying to explain? No matter how perfect your explanation is, it will only seem like a hollow excuse in others’ eyes and will never justify your mistakes. If you err, you must accept punishment. In this world, no one owes anyone; everything is treated fairly. If you have chosen this path that leads to the present situation, then what right do you have to bring everything back to its original place?

Good and evil will eventually be repaid. The outcomes must bear the weight of the actions taken. I’ve always been unsure to whom I should say these words, but now I’ve finally spoken them, and truly, my heart feels so relieved. I never thought there would come a day when my heart could feel so repressed. I always believed that as long as there was love in my heart, no matter the difficulties, I could solve them all. But in the end, I was profoundly mistaken; nothing can lead me to the right decision!”

”Zhihan, I understand what you mean by those words, but let’s not make our words so absolute. Perhaps you never want to see me again or wish me to surface in your life, but do you know? When my heart flutters for a girl, how much pain I feel, how much I yearn to smile forever in life because of her. I am no saint. What I want is merely the truest thoughts of my heart, to live happily in my own fantasy!

Now that you’ve spoken these words to me today, I already know your final decision. Even if you said nothing, did nothing, I would still know the answer. You would never leave your husband to be with me. We can’t return to the past, and even if I gave so much for you, it would all be in vain. So why should I torment myself and deprive myself of peace?

Rest assured, I will let go...”

...

Both returned to their respective homes, and no one could tell what had actually happened.

When Ran Zhihan turned around, her heart still clenched in sudden pain. After all, it was someone she had once cared about; how could she be completely devoid of feeling? She was not plant life; how could she be without any sentiment? Even grass knows pain when trampled, but such is the difficulty of the world. In these troubled times, no one can rise through life without facing any hurdles; that is simply impossible. Only by climbing step by step with one’s own efforts to the pinnacle of one’s life will you be able to look back at those people and know how happy and joyful your heart can be.

Zhang Yichen knew whom his wife had met, but when he saw her return home, he chose to ask nothing. Perhaps this was the deepest understanding and trust between them.

No matter what they did when apart, they would always choose to steadfastly believe in each other. Perhaps only such love could truly be heart-stirring. Maybe only this kind of love was worthy of being called earth-shattering, a relationship where, no matter for whom or what difficulties arose between them, they would always grasp each other’s hands firmly, never letting go.

”Zhihan, we have time now. Let’s go visit Grandpa together. We should also properly discuss how we should live our lives, not letting someone else’s appearance disturb our mood, nor letting another’s matters trouble us. Everyone chooses their own path; why bring others’ troubles into our hearts?”

”Thank you, my beloved. You knew whom I went to see, yet you chose to say nothing. Your trust in me alone moves me so much. I’m incredibly grateful to be fortunate enough to be married to you. I have to admit that all the words I said before were said in anger; I simply didn’t know how to explain them to you. I hope you can overlook it, so we can join hands and create the most beautiful future together, not letting anything shatter the trust between us!”

Zhang Yichen and Ran Zhihan hugged each other tightly, aware that this was one of the warmest and rarest embraces for them both.
