My Alleged Husband

Chapter 624: Chapter 603 Can’t Hide_1

Ran Zhihan decided that before she left, she still wanted to visit Old Master Zhang in the hospital. After all, Old Master Zhang had always taken good care of her since she married into the family, never deliberately making things difficult for her. She wasn’t the type to shirk her debts. Since her grandfather had been kind to her, why should she avoid her own grandfather like this? Whatever had happened between her and her husband, she shouldn’t take it out on her relatives, for they truly loved her.

Old Master Zhang was happy when he saw his granddaughter-in-law come to visit him at the hospital. It had been so long and he hadn’t seen her. Finally, the wait was over. Although he had always hoped that his grandson would have another child, he also yearned for his grandson’s company. No matter what their relationship had been like before, once they had decided to be together, there were things that had to be faced.

”Zhihan, you’re here. What made you think to visit Grandpa today? I’ve been waiting here for you to come see me all this time. Why didn’t you bring my great-grandson? I haven’t seen him in such a long time, and my heart misses him dearly. I wish he could come and see his great-grandfather.

Have you been especially busy lately, or has something happened at home? Why haven’t you come to see me? Leaving me alone in the hospital, I almost thought you had forgotten about me. If you hadn’t come to see Grandpa today, I would have really thought you no longer remembered me and wanted to leave me alone in the hospital while you lived a happy life of marital bliss. But seeing you today, Grandpa’s heart is genuinely happy. I’ve missed you so much after not seeing you all this time!”

Ran Zhihan felt agonizingly pained inside. Why did such a thing have to happen to her? Now all she wanted was to be with her family. Why was that so difficult? Was this all a punishment for the betrayal she had committed against her own family? She had never imagined that such a thing would happen. All she had wanted was to live a peaceful and happy life. But was she the main cause of all these problems simply because she had made a mistake? Could it be right that others should be made to suffer the consequences of her actions?

No matter how incapable she felt, no matter how unbearable her past life had been, and no matter what kind of pain and heart-wrenching harm she had gone through, she could never avoid these things. One must face what needs to be faced; nobody could escape the past. So perhaps only by confronting everything openly could she make things less awkward. From any perspective, there was no reason to keep concealing things for her. Confronting her reality might lead to a different journey.

”Grandpa, my main purpose today is to tell you that I might have to go on a business trip soon and won’t be back for a while. I’ll leave the family matters in your care. You know what your grandson likes to eat every day. When I’m not around, he can have some peace and quiet. I don’t want to disturb his work because of any matter. I want to go and clear my mind and also hope to see how big the world is. I hope you can understand me.”

Upon hearing this, Old Master Zhang knew that things were not as simple as he had imagined. Could there be trouble between the young couple? Or was there some unspeakable secret they hadn’t told him, the old fogey? Seeing how sad his granddaughter-in-law looked, could there really be a problem between the two of them?

”Zhihan, is there a problem between you and Yichen? Why would you suddenly say these things to Grandpa? Do you know how heartbroken Grandpa feels hearing you say this? I’ve always treated you as one of the children in this family. How can Grandpa’s heart endure if you suddenly leave? I’ve grown used to having you at home, but if you suddenly leave, it would be so lonely for Grandpa to return to an empty house!”

”Grandpa, this issue isn’t about anyone else. It’s about a mistake I have made myself, and now I need to clear my head and recall the wrong things I have done. I know you’ve always loved me, but I hope you understand that once some mistakes are made, they must be taken responsibility for. I’ve had a big fight with my husband, and I can’t live with him because I can’t understand why, after all the pain he has suffered, he would want his son to go through it again. Aren’t parents supposed to want their children to grow up happily?”

”I don’t know how to comfort my son any longer. Watching him train so hard every day is heartbreaking for me as a mother. No one understands. I just want my son to grow up happy, without further suffering, without hatred in his eyes, and without being blinded by hatred.”

”Grandpa, can you understand the pain in my heart? I really don’t know what to do. Is my departure the only way to bring a peaceful solution to all this? I really don’t know what to say anymore. I just want my son to have a happy childhood. Everyone’s childhood comes only once, and those kids who didn’t have a happy one end up struggling when they grow up, all to prove to the people they care about that they are capable. I don’t want my son to live in such pain; he deserves a happy childhood. He’s just a child, so how can he be blamed? Why should the problems of the adults be passed down to the children?”

Old Master Zhang sighed deeply, knowing that she had a point, but there wasn’t much he could do. Everyone chooses their own path, and the outcome they receive will vary accordingly. Since they had chosen this path, what reason was there to resent others? The path one chooses is inescapable; there’s no avoiding it, so one must face it, right?

”My child, everyone’s journey is chosen by themselves. Since he decided on this path, the things he will have to face can never be avoided. It’s better to let him bear it and face it on his own. Maybe this way, he’ll grow up faster, right?”
