My Alleged Husband

Chapter 610: Chapter 589: Letting Go_1

It seems I really should find a time to clarify things with Zhang Yichen, or I might truly damage the relationship between the two of them, which would be really regrettable.

After all, I never genuinely wanted to see the woman I love live an unhappy life!

That was not my original intention...

Chen Gang thought for a while, and now that things had been getting more and more out of hand, if he didn’t step forward to clarify the truth, he would definitely be tormented by guilt for the rest of his life. He had hurt the woman he loved the most, regardless of whatever she did wrong, and regardless of whether she had ever been moved by him for his sake. But, if his heart truly loved her, he should be willing to make any sacrifice for her happiness. If his genuine actions hurt the person who could have had a happy life, wouldn’t he become the chief culprit? As the saying goes, it’s better to destroy ten temples than to break up a marriage. How could you be so cruel as to hurt the woman you love the most?

Ran Zhihan was currently unaware of Chen Gang’s true feelings. He only knew that his heart was in great pain, because his actions indeed had hurt a family that could have been happy. Due to a moment of folly, believing in words he should not have, his marriage had ended in ruins. He could never return to the way things were before, having become so numb and broken. He had never imagined that he would encounter such a situation later in life. He didn’t ask for much—only for his family’s well-being. But things were getting increasingly complicated and perhaps he really didn’t have the ability to protect his family.

”Zhihan, I think there are some things we should talk about openly and clear up completely. Why ruin our friendship over some unpleasant incidents? You should know that when I say I genuinely like you, I truly mean it, with no deception. It’s very difficult for my heart to flutter for a girl, but you’ve broken that pattern. Every time I see you, my heart races uncontrollably, and sometimes I don’t even know why I endure the pain for you. To be honest, there were many girls who pursued me in the past, but I cruelly rejected them all, because I believed that I should be with the girl my heart loved, and I should not betray my own feelings.

Perhaps it’s this very notion of mine that has brought so much trouble and distress to your family, making you unable to lift your head before your husband. But I hope you can understand that what I did was out of love for you. My love for you will never change. If one day your husband wrongs you, or if you can’t stand being with him anymore and want to leave him to start anew, then please come to me. My arms are always open for you, I’m always waiting for you to live with me. I don’t care if you’ve been married to your husband and had children with him; what I care about is whether you can finally be with me and make the right decision.

Actually, I’m not such an unforgivable person. My heart is also willing to give everything for the woman I love. Pity that you don’t see the sacrifices I’m willing to make, because your heart is filled with your husband, your child, your family, including your relatives, but there’s no place for me. Your heart is like it’s filled with the whole world except me, because my existence is a shame to you, as I’ve brought you so much disgrace.

But I really hope you can give me another chance to be the sincerest of friends. Believe me, I will do everything in my power to treat you well, I will go to any length to protect you, and you can see me as your brother. However, I can never see you as a sister, because I will always love you. No matter when or where, just thinking of you can turn my pain into joy, because you’re my cotton candy. You’ve shown me that there are many things in this world that I shouldn’t possess, and that I shouldn’t persist in pursuing them. You’ve taught me all these things, thank you!”

Ran Zhihan was suddenly faced with Chen Gang’s unexpected declaration, and she didn’t quite understand his intentions. Was he now willing to turn over a new leaf and stop pursuing her relentlessly? Was he really ready to let go and stop disturbing her happy life? But what should she do now? She knew all too well that all his actions were because of her, yet she ended up hurting two people. She never meant for it to happen, but love was not something she could control. Protecting the man she loved the most in her heart could cause unpleasantness for others, but it was necessary.

”Chen Gang, what do you mean?”

”Yes, just as you are thinking in your mind, I have now decided to let go and not disturb your happy life anymore. I will also explain everything to your husband, that all this was just a scheme I meticulously set up, and you are entirely blameless. You have never thought about betraying your husband to be with me. Perhaps as a man, my presence has hurt his pride, making him feel threatened; that’s why he wanted to deal with me at all costs. However, I’m not afraid. And I’m somewhat pleased because, at the very least, I can compete with him fairly and squarely in front of her—the girl I once loved the most. Maybe in the end, you will resolutely choose to be with him, but I will not regret it, as I have experienced it all. The final result is not something I can attain by my efforts alone. I understand what this signifies, and my heart will not be as pained as before!

But I still love you now, and I’m not sure how much time it will take for me to forget you, but I can only tell you that I may never be able to forget you in this lifetime. I will keep you hidden deep within my heart, no matter if I marry and have children in the future, you will always be in my heart. Perhaps this is unfair to others, but how can I just easily forget you when I have waited for you for so many years, yet in the end, I never received your profound love that I will never forget for the rest of my life!”
