My Alleged Husband

Chapter 639: Chapter 618: As Long as You’re Happy_1

”Honey, perhaps making this decision is something you temporarily find hard to accept, but please try to understand the thoughts of a mother’s heart. I simply can’t watch my child endure such torment with my eyes wide open.

Do you know how much it hurts me when I see my son get injured during training, when he hides in his room to apply medicine to his wounds in secret, when he’s about to cry from the pain but stubbornly holds back the tears in his eyes? He is my own flesh and blood, the child I carried with effort for ten months, my very life, yet he’s so stubborn, swallowing all his pain and tears without ever telling me, his mother. How could my heart not ache as a mother?

Many people should know the adage, ’the love of parents for their child knows no bounds,’ that for their children, parents are willing to go through fire and water. Do you understand the pain in my heart? He is my child. I only hope he can lead a healthy, safe life. Seeing his little hands get hurt, clearly in so much pain that he can’t breathe, yet he endures it all silently, alone. How could a mother stand by unmoved?”

”Wife, I know these things are really hard for you to accept, but I too endured these pains when I was young. As a man, it’s impossible not to sustain any injuries; no man doesn’t have scars—it’s inevitable. As for the final decision, the power to decide lies with our child. He’s a kid but also a living person; he should know what he wants. I’ll let him follow his own will. If he wants to achieve all this, then I won’t hesitate to give it all to him. But if he chooses to continue on the path he has selected, then we should not interfere any further, letting him walk his chosen path steadily. Perhaps there will be an unexpected outcome. Perhaps if he really picks this path, it will ultimately make us see him in a new light. Maybe our entire understanding is wrong, and only his choice is the unmistaken one!”

Ran Zhihan couldn’t help but feel distressed no matter how her husband tried to comfort her. After all, it was their child. Regardless of how the child turned out, her heart as a mother couldn’t feel at peace. Watching her child endure such torment, how could a mother, seeing her own child hurt, remain indifferent? A mother’s natural wish is for all the pain to fall upon herself instead.

”Since you’ve put it that way, I’ll choose to believe for now, believing that the heavens will indeed grant him fair treatment, believing that my child can truly create a miracle, not having to bear all the pain time and time again. I can’t bear to watch him struggle in the flames over and over again. I don’t want to see him get hurt and still force a smile when facing me, his mother. I only hope that when he faces me, he can reveal his true feelings without being so stubborn, for that would cause his heart great suffering without anyone understanding him. How lonely and tormented he must feel!”

”As long as you are happy, that’s all that matters. Whatever you want to do, I will support you unconditionally. If you say we should not have children for now, then let’s not. When you feel ready to have children, then we’ll have one. A good life is what’s most important for everyone. Trust me, I have the ability now, trust that I can give you a worry-free and happy life!”

”Give our child a chance to be trusted, let him achieve everything he desires through his own efforts. I believe my parents are not heartless; seeing their grandson work so hard, they will surely have a change of heart and come back to this family. I also believe that my son’s efforts will not be in vain, nor will they be carried away to Dong Liu. I trust that he is a capable person, and that all his sacrifices will eventually be rewarded. The universe is fair—it gives back what you put into it. I believe the grievances my child has endured over the years will eventually receive the best compensation, and at that moment, his heart will be the most excited and joyful!”

Ran Zhihan didn’t speak, implicitly agreeing with every word her husband had said. She knew that no matter what she said now, it wouldn’t make a difference. She only hoped that the heavens would be as her husband said, never failing their child. How could she, as a mother, bear to see her own child endure such suffering while she stood by indifferently? It was impossible for any relative to do so. Hopefully, the heavens are watching. Please give her child a chance to turn things around, not to suffer so miserably. Let him see the harsh realities before him, allowing him to choose the right path, not to continue hurting himself out of stubbornness, and hurting a mother’s heart as well.

”Then let’s go see Grandpa again soon. I want to spend more time with him because of my willfulness that has worried him. As his junior, I should always be by his side to accompany him. Him sitting alone in the hospital—I’m worried. I want to spend more time with him, and at the same time, stop watching my son get injured over and over again. Maybe then, my heart will feel a little better. I really can’t bear to see my child hurt while he endures it alone; it truly breaks my heart!”

”Whatever you say goes. If you want to do it, do it. As long as you believe, I will always support you from behind—that’s enough for me. We each choose different paths and will ultimately face different outcomes. He will surely receive what he deserves. Don’t worry about it; let him walk the path he should with steadiness. Let’s not let our reasons lead him astray, or else he might blame us later. As parents, we can only ensure he lives without worry for his lifetime, not control the direction of his life, nor force him to choose a life he doesn’t want to lead!”
