My Alleged Husband

Chapter 631: Chapter 610 Daddy, Mommy_1

These past few days, Zhang Ni had been enduring devil-like training at home.

When it was finally time to rest, he went to the bedroom to look for his mom and dad, only to find the room completely empty. He couldn’t understand why his mom had never appeared in front of him these past days. Did she not want to live with him any longer? He was still a child, and of course, his thoughts were not something others could guess. Thinking about it, his heart still ached. He knew what decision he should make in his life. He didn’t want to continue training blindly anymore. Perhaps proving to his grandparents how outstanding he was had some value, but if it meant losing the happiest moments of his childhood, what was the point of living this life?

”Yichen, I think there are some things that we should just lay out on the table and clear up. It’s better to clarify things we ought to say to avoid further arguments over unnecessary matters in the future.

All I really want now is not much, just some quiet time to reflect on my actions, to ponder whether they were right or wrong. Can you please be magnanimous and give me some time to think about what I should do so that I won’t make my son hate me?”

Zhang Ni looked around the house for a while but couldn’t find any trace of her parents, so she started calling her great-grandfather. She thought it was better to clarify some things. Her parents had been missing for several days now, especially her mom, who had never appeared at home. As a son, he was naturally worried.

When Old Master Zhang saw that it was his beloved great-grandson calling, a smile appeared at the corner of his eyes. How he had longed for a call from his great-grandson. It seemed that heaven had not disappointed him, making his dream come true.

”Great-grandpa, do you know where my mom and dad are? I haven’t seen my mom for many days. Does she not want me anymore? I’ve been looking for her for hours but still can’t find her. And now even dad’s nowhere in sight. Are they really that busy, too busy to care for their own son? My heart aches so much – there’s no one at home to comfort me. I miss my mom so much.”

Old Master Zhang’s heart felt as if it were being cut by a knife after hearing Zhang Ni’s words. Why were things in his household becoming more complicated than before? Was a peaceful and happy life really so difficult to achieve?

”Nai’er, listen to your grandpa. There are some things that children are better off not knowing. No matter what your parents are doing, they love you in their hearts. Maybe they are busy with something right now. Just stay at home, okay? When they come back, you can bond with them, and you won’t feel sad anymore. They’ll also feel comforted. I know you’re a good child, but I’m sorry that your grandpa can’t come home and be with you right now. You must behave yourself at home alone, don’t be mischievous or wander off. Otherwise, when your parents come home and can’t find you, they’ll be worried, you know?”

”Great-grandpa, I understand. Don’t worry, I won’t run around. I want to be right there when my parents come home, so they can see their dear son first thing. I can’t allow my running around to be the reason for them to argue, nor can I make them worry because of me.”

”Such a sensible and good child. Just be good at home, okay? Make sure to hold on to them when your mom and dad come back, don’t let either of them leave your side again, understand?”

”Mhm...”

...

”Yichen, I don’t know if you’ve truly come to your senses and don’t want your son to endure the same pain you did, or if you have other motives, but I am really glad you think this way. After all, your son is not a wooden doll. The hardships he has endured over these years are no less than what you experienced. Since you’re a father, you should cherish your own child, even if he ends up choosing a path different from all of ours. We should still let him have a happy childhood, shouldn’t we? A happy childhood is what we give him, not what he chooses. The path he takes later is due to his own choices, which we cannot control. Weighing the pros and cons, you should really think about what’s more important – your son’s happiness or proving your capabilities to others!”

How could Zhang Yichen not know what was more important? As someone who never enjoyed a happy childhood himself, how could he not know its significance to a child? He selfishly deprived his own flesh and blood of this happiness, just to make his son understand the pain he once went through – to make him know that some things don’t come to you by birth, that everything must be fought for. If you don’t work hard, you’ll be looked down upon by everyone for the rest of your life!

Every person has a different way of educating. He knew his method was overly extreme, and he also knew that by doing this, he really hurt his wife’s heart. But he felt helpless; certain things just had to be experienced by each person to truly understand the hardships involved. It wasn’t something that could be lightly dismissed in a few words, erasing all errors.

Having his son prove to his grandparents how capable and clever he was came at such a great cost. How could he, as a father, bear it? To have his son by his side for a lifetime and such a wonderful wife to take care of him, what more could he ask for? Why persist in poisoning this happy and fortunate life?

”I know that everything you said makes sense. Don’t worry, I won’t let my son, Jin Se, suffer like I did. He deserves a happy childhood, so you can rest assured and stay by his side. He doesn’t have to undergo any more training unless he chooses to continue, and in which case, we can’t interfere with his wishes!”
