My Alleged Husband

Chapter 607: Chapter 586 Deserved It_1

”Rest assured, I’m a man of my word,” Chen Gang said. ”Once I make a promise, I absolutely will not regret it, but I also hope that you’ll remember every condition you’ve agreed to today. If one day you go back on your word, I won’t hesitate to make our issues public.

Actually, even now, you haven’t figured out why I can threaten you like this. Because ultimately, you’ve never truly trusted me. If you had trusted me a little more, if you had said a kind word to me, if you had given me even one look of affection, I definitely would not have treated you like this. But now, I have no choice but to do so because when you treated me, you already broke my heart. Why should I give you a peaceful life now?

Trust between people is mutual. I trusted you completely, and yet, you chose not to trust at all. I’m asking if there is any point in continuing our friendship like this? Since you no longer wish to be friends with me, I can only destroy the balance we had and set us both on a path of no return. I just want you to know that threatening me brings no benefits. You had the chance to threaten me when you could, but you chose the wrong approach. In the past, a few words from you, and I always softened, but now I won’t, especially after knowing that you would abandon me for another man. I am more determined than ever that I will never again believe a word you say in this lifetime. If you dare to threaten me again, I’ll make sure you regret it. Now you’ve proved it, but I should also congratulate you. All the outcomes are the results of your own actions; you’ve sown the seeds of your misfortune, and now you must bear the consequences.”

”Yes, you’re right. All of this is nothing but the fruit of my own doing. You reap what you sow. I never should have met you in the first place. Had I not met you, I wouldn’t be in such a mess now. I truly regret why I so easily believed every word you said?”

”I don’t want to say anything now. I just want to tell you that even if my husband and I can never go back to the past, I will never be with someone like you. Being with you suffocates me because you don’t have love in your heart. You only love yourself; your way of loving yourself turned into loving me. Maybe in your eyes, you think you love me, but ask yourself, do you really love me? Does loving someone mean hurting them at any cost, making their life a misery?

”Chen Gang, everyone has a heart, and no one owes anyone in this vast world. Don’t you know the saying ’What is destined will come to be, and without destiny, you will never achieve it no matter how hard you try’? I don’t know if you can truly understand this saying, but I still hope it can help you. Stop being so delusional; it will do you no good. Let’s not continue with our incompatible views and let the best friendship end here. I believe you know what to do.

”Yes, you’re a smart man; you should know the best outcome for us. You won’t do things that make us both look bad, but I also hope you know that some things should be done and some things shouldn’t...”

”In my eyes, there’s no such thing as should or shouldn’t, only daring or not daring. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t care how you see me; all I want is to hold you tightly in my arms, never to let you escape for the rest of your life. I can be indifferent to your opinions of me, but do you know what I fear most? Seeing you cry in front of me. Your tears can break my heart. I can’t bear the feeling of being unable to comfort the woman I love most, crying desperately in front of me; it makes me feel like a failure.”

”Don’t come to me with this nonsense. Don’t you think today’s outcome is your own doing, that you deserve to suffer? So certain of my trust, yet you exploited me. If you hadn’t trusted others so easily, how could this have happened? All of this, all the pain you deserve, is your fault. You deserve to be thrown out by your husband. You deserve it, that no one will trust you again, and you deserve to spend the rest of your life alone and miserable!”

”Yes, all of this is my just deserts. How can I blame anyone else? Some things were predetermined, yet I stupidly trusted the person I shouldn’t have. I believed them because I wanted to believe that my best friend would never deceive me, that my best friend would go to any lengths for me. But in the end, don’t you know the truth?”

”Don’t worry, I won’t threaten you again because I don’t dare to; you hold the cards. But I hope you realize not to cling too tightly to that advantage, or we’ll end up destroying each other. When that day comes, do you think I’ll care about the consequences? I’m already mad, beyond caring about the impact or what results it will bring. All I care about is whether I can return to the man I love most and go back to having a happy, blessed family...”

Chen Gang did not expect that this woman before him could disregard his threats as if they meant nothing. She didn’t care about any leverage he had on her; she just wanted her family to be happy and well. Perhaps he really did make a mistake, but after all, it was his most beloved woman who deserved the suffering. If she hadn’t treated him the way she did, how could he have retaliated so fiercely, causing her the loss of the happiest family?

And indeed, the human heart is not so easily compared. They say ’put yourself in someone else’s shoes,’ but it turns out that in the end, when you try to compare hearts, you only end up hurting yourself.
