My Alleged Husband

Chapter 641: Chapter 620: Appointment_1

At this moment, Old Master Zhang realized he truly had no way to communicate with his daughter-in-law about this matter. Perhaps such an ending would be a difficult decision for them, and no parent can truly turn a blind eye to their own child.

”I know that saying too much now might not seem like the best outcome to you all, but please, think from the perspective of your children. If he’s willing to be trampled by others, to be stepped on for years to come with no power to fight back, if he’s willing to be a lower-class person rather than an upper-class person for his whole life, then you have the right to dictate his life. But if he does not choose this path, then as parents, you can’t deprive him of the freedom to choose, nor can you allow your child to resent you years down the line. The only thing you can do is let your child be grateful to you, knowing their parents are their most steadfast support, no matter what decisions he makes. As parents, we will always support him from behind!”

”Grandfather, I understand. Don’t worry. But I want to make a pact with you: if my child chooses a different path in life, then none of us should impose the responsibilities of the Zhang Family on him. Let him freely do what he wants. I don’t want my child to feel the pressure from our family from birth, as he grows up. Such pressure can suffocate a person. I can’t bear to see my child grow up in agony. But if my child still chooses this path in the end, I will support him unreservedly. I will let him know that even if the whole world abandons him, I, as his mother, will never abandon him. I will always be by his side, silently giving and eternally cheering for him. I will let him know he can still be an upper-class person one day, and all his efforts and hard work will have come from himself!”

Old Master Zhang did not expect his granddaughter-in-law to suddenly say such words. He was a bit stunned, as if he couldn’t react. If there had been such a pact earlier, things would not have become so tricky, nor so complicated. Everyone’s chosen path in life is indeed different. Perhaps this path will be the brilliant avenue of your life, or it could be your abyss of suffering. No one has control over their own life nor can anyone resolutely make everything as they imagine. The only thing that can change is that the effort one puts in, in the end, gets rewarded. Otherwise, no matter how much you give, you end up with nothing.

”Since you’ve now opened up this discussion, I have no choice but to make this pact with you. I hope you will remember what you’ve said today. I also believe in your child. He will definitely choose to continue on this path, regardless of how many thorns lie ahead, no matter how many difficulties he faces, whatever may happen, I believe he will carry on with this decision.

Because there isn’t a single descendant of the Zhang Family who’s a coward, because anyone from the Zhang Family is mighty and proud, ready to give up everything for their ideals, every single one of them has an unchanging pride. He would give up everything for his dignity and self-respect. I believe he is no exception because he is a true descendant of our Zhang Family!”

No matter what our children do, we shouldn’t gamble with their lives. Yet today, we had no choice but to do so. Maybe taking this action might make our children feel like we’re merely using them for our gain. But such a decision today might also make our children overflow with gratitude. It might make them think we treat them merely as tools and have never cared about their true feelings. No matter if the outcome is good or bad, it won’t change the children’s impression of us!”

”Grandfather, I didn’t do this to change my son’s impression of me as a mother. I just want him to have the chance to choose his own life. I hope he won’t regret his choices. If this is the life he wholeheartedly wants, then how could I, as his mother, interfere with his life and destroy his happiness? I just want him to know that whatever choices he makes, no matter the outcome, he must walk through it step by step—even if it means leaving a trail of bloody footprints. He must not falter or give up halfway!

Perhaps everyone has a different way of raising their children, but I never imagined that one day there would be a divergence on this path of parenting. We all have the same mindset towards our own kids, but no one expected to decide our child’s path in life this way, no one knew which path would lead to the best outcome for him!”

In fact, how could Old Master Zhang have foreseen that his granddaughter-in-law would propose such a pact today? Such a pact might not be a good thing for anyone, nor is it necessarily bad. No one can predict what will happen in the future, nobody can foresee unknown dangers and difficulties. One can only take one step at a time, and they wouldn’t know. When Zhang Ni finds out that his grandfather and mother made such a bet on him, he still resolutely chooses the path he’s currently on. He has never regretted choosing this path; on the contrary, he feels it is the correct one. He wants to have a life of his own, one that won’t be given up or altered because of anyone’s interference.

Who knows whether his future life will be more brilliant and exciting than his biological father’s? No one knows how lively his future family will be, how many siblings he will have, or what sort of path he will ultimately face. But he always persists in walking the path he has chosen!

Even if the road ahead is exceedingly difficult, he still chooses to complete his own journey...
