Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 300: Chapter 223: Xiangmu Village (Part 2)

”By the way, Brother Jiang, the people helping to transport things will be back in a few days. You all should take a good rest for now and also get familiar with the surroundings during these days.”

The Jiang family traveled lightly this time, not bringing much luggage, let alone other items.

So, before departing, he specially left a letter. When Liu Bo’s people arrived, they would know what to bring upon seeing the envelope.

Besides some grown chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, there were also bamboo rats, Xiahei, Xiaomi, and those few unknown large birds which, though they seemed big, it’s obvious they hadn’t fully grown.

As for Xiahei, Xiaomi, and the big birds, they’re considered Xiaomi’s precious darlings. Not one of them can be spared, which Xiaomi had specially mentioned to her parents before setting off.

As for the chickens, ducks, and geese, they’re naturally for convenient breeding.

After all, raising chicks now means not laying eggs for at least six months.

Bringing back a few chickens, ducks, and geese, even if not for selling eggs, at least means the kids at home don’t have to worry about food, right?

These matters were already explained to the kids by Jiang Hu the night before departure, so nobody was surprised.

Just like Qixi said, Red Fragrance Village is not far. Heading south from Cheng County, in less than two hours, they saw a small village.

Separated from Cheng County by only one mountain, the village has roads directly connected to the main road, which are very flat, suitable for ox carts and horse carts.

When looking at Cheng County before, only the tall and broad city walls could be seen, but there are also many tall mountains surrounding it.

At least, there are also many mountains around Red Fragrance Village. The village lies in a gentle area at the foot of these mountains, surrounded by many terraced fields and others.

There is no river, but they did see some ponds.

”Red Fragrance Village was once covered with Red Fragrance trees, hence named Red Fragrance Village. Even now, there are villagers who specially grow Red Fragrance trees.”

Red Fragrance trees are a type of medicinal material which can also be used as a spice for cooking, its price not cheap, making a living from it is feasible.

As everyone looked up, Qixi pointed to a big courtyard in the village:

”Brother Jiang, look, there it is. That’s your new home. The master said the silver note you initially sent wasn’t fully used, the remaining amount has been placed in the main house; you’ll see it once you enter.”

Though Jiang Hu sought help from Liu Bo, he didn’t take advantage. Before building the house, he specifically let the egg-carting manager bring back hundreds of silver notes.

Almost half of the Jiang family’s assets, just to let Liu Bo help get everything settled here. So when the Jiang family moves, they can directly settle in.

For this, Jiang Hu sent food and oil to the Liu family without the slightest stinginess.

After all, the Liu family doesn’t lack money and doesn’t fancy the Jiang family’s small sum, their willingness to help mainly stems from the food and vegetables at home.

Jiang’s family in Fu’an Village was at the village’s tail end, having to walk fifteen minutes to exit the village, while their new home was near the village entrance, clearly visible from afar, much bigger than other villagers’ houses.

It was visible the house was newly built, yet not particularly conspicuous, far from being a grand manor.

It’s styled after a slightly better courtyard in the village, but expanded a bit.

Perhaps predicting that Jiang Hu and the others would return home first, Qixi carried the main gate key, pushed open the door, letting Jiang Hu enter first.

”Brother Jiang, this key is returned to its rightful owner now. But since it’s quite late now, can I stay overnight at your place?”

There’s actually some time before closing the city gate, yet since Qixi put it that way, Jiang Hu wouldn’t refuse.

With the door secured, everyone seized the chance before dark, led by Qixi, to have a good look around.

The layout similar to Jiang’s in Fu’an Village, plus a side yard, supposedly prepared exclusively for Xiaoxue and Xiaomi.

The house contained only grains, no vegetables, yet it’s alright as long as settled in, it’s very good.

Qixi let everyone rest in their rooms first, offering to help boil water and cook dinner, making porridge that they could pair with pickled veggies they brought from Fu’an Village for the meal.

Besides, everyone’s been traveling constantly these days, now a bit groggy, with not much appetite, preferring bland food over sumptuous meals for comfort.

The main priority was to take a bath, then sleep; by the next day, spirits would be lifted.

After dinner, Qixi instructed them to wash themselves while he tidied up the kitchen, then set a fire in the yard, convenient for everyone to warm their hair after washing.
