Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 277: Chapter 215: Jiang Yu Leaves (Part 3)

No wonder father and mother, along with Uncle Liu, didn’t say a word after discussing in the study earlier. It’s to prevent them from blabbing outside and accidentally spilling the beans.

Thinking of this, Xiaomi quickly patted her small chest and promised, ”Don’t worry, daddy, I understand!”

”Understand what? You all wash your hands, it’s almost time for dinner.” Second Mother came over from the kitchen, looking at father and daughter in confusion.

Xiaomi chuckled a few times, ”Mom, I’m going to call Big Brother and Little Wei.”

Saying that, she turned and ran off. Jiang Hu shook his head; she was just upset earlier, and now she’s fine so quickly, truly a child.

He continued, walking towards Second Mother, ”Second Mother, Manager Liu said to wait a few more days. There are a few people coming to our house; Uncle Liu bought them as laborers for us.”

Second Mother awkwardly wiped her hands on her apron, ”What do we need laborers for? It’s strange. If the villagers find out, there will be gossip.”

Jiang Hu replied, ”There’s so much more farmland now. Just the two of us can’t handle it. Having some laborers would indeed make things much more convenient. Let’s prepare the area first.”

The laborers were specifically bought by Uncle Liu from Cheng County, having previously discussed it with Jiang Hu, especially selecting skilled workers.

Besides the laborers, they also needed to find someone who could continue planting Jiang’s family crops after leaving Fu’an Village.

After all, even if they moved, there was so much land in Fu’an Village that couldn’t just be left to waste.

As for whether there would be any change in the crops after Xiaomi left, no one thought much about it.

Even if there were, the yield from every household’s crops was very high now, much better than before, wasn’t it?

Xiaomi pondered these things for a moment but soon stopped paying attention to them.

She was busy every day, and although the laborers arrived soon, they only helped with the fieldwork.

But Xiaomi also had a lot of other tasks, like the peacocks. She couldn’t leave them to someone else; she had to check on them daily and give them some Spiritual Spring water.

There were also chickens, ducks, geese, and pigs to feed—Spiritual Spring water and such, Xiaomi never ran short of it.

So even if there were more people working at home, Xiaomi stayed as busy as she had been.

Jiang Yu’s departure, initially unsettling everyone, became less of a concern as he regularly sent a letter home every month.

According to Jiang Yu’s letters, he didn’t live at Liu’s house but stayed at the academy. However, every evening, Liu’s family would send someone to take him back for dinner. He could either stay at Liu’s residence or return to the academy afterward.

Liu Ze was at the same academy, but due to health reasons, he couldn’t eat the academy’s food, so he always lived at home.

Overall, everyone at the academy knew that Jiang Yu was a relative of the Liu family, having a good relationship with them, and wouldn’t be bullied.

And Liu’s family took such good care of Jiang Yu, partly because the Jiang family regularly sent vegetables to the Liu family in Cheng County.

Fu’an Village was far from Cheng County—even by carriage it took seven or eight days, so ordinary vegetables couldn’t be preserved for that long.

Nevertheless, there were some easily stored vegetables, like various beans that could sprout, and radishes and cabbages that could keep for half a month.

Furthermore, Jiang Hu made a few shorter bamboo baskets, filled them with soil, sowed vegetable seeds, and when they grew to near maturity, transported them to Cheng County by ox cart.

One could say, Liu’s family assigned a few people to continuously travel between Cheng County and Fu’an Village, transporting the vegetables Liu Ze needed to eat.

It’s undeniable; the manpower and resources were admirable, yet not as good as eating at Jiang’s home.

No wonder Uncle Liu didn’t bat an eye at ten taels of silver a month.

To ensure Liu Ze got his meals, Liu’s family indeed spent a significant amount of money.

But these are all matters of the past now.

Upon receiving her brother’s letter and learning that he was doing well in Cheng County, Xiaomi was completely relieved and began pondering her own affairs.

The weather was gradually warming, life flourishing, and little animals in the mountains were coming out, sparking Xiaomi’s interest in hunting once more.

The mountains contained several other villages. Although not excessively populated, there were quite a few people. However, no reports of large beasts were ever heard.

This indicated that at least in the nearby forest, there were no large beasts, which really aroused Xiaomi’s desire to explore further.

Now, it’s just about finding the right opportunity.

Find a suitable time to go into the mountains, preferably without others following!
