Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 282: Chapter 216: Wei Ziang Catches Someone’s Eye (Part 2)

The grains are coarse, rarely refined rice, and the vegetables are also not the best-looking, as the Jiang family themselves eat these too. However, there are also three meat meals a month.

Originally, Jiang Hu felt somewhat bad about this, but when Uncle Liu decided to hire long-term workers for the Jiang family, he gave him a good lecture.

Some things must have a principle.

Jiang Hu felt that the meals they provided for the workers weren’t very good, but he didn’t realize that nine out of ten outside workers couldn’t even get enough coarse grains, and might not get to eat meat twice a year.

In comparison, the workers at the Jiang family are already very, very fortunate.

Moreover, the grains from the Jiang family, especially corn and sorghum, fetch a good price when sold, and taste almost as good as refined rice.

So apart from Jiang Hu himself feeling a bit awkward initially, the workers were all very grateful, feeling they had found a good employer and worked very diligently.

But these are all side notes.

The workers live and eat in the outer courtyard, and the gates between the inner and outer courtyards are mostly closed, with door bolts too.

After all, there are three women in the house, and although there are also two middle-aged couples among the workers, it’s still not quite appropriate.

Additionally, the back door of the Jiang family is closer to the old house, so everyone usually enters and exits from there, making it reasonable to have the front door bolted.

Xiaomi lay on the bed, thinking that summer was here, and it was time to eat watermelon. She hoped to move to the county town soon, where she could ’sell’ things.

Buying things at the county market would definitely be more convenient than going to the mountains to ’pick’ seeds, and without raising suspicion.

Her title as Little Lucky Star has spread widely in the surrounding villages. She didn’t think much of it before, but after her father explained it to her, she realized that the title had both advantages and disadvantages.

Thinking about it, she couldn’t help but sigh.

”What’s wrong, Xiaomi?” Xiaoxue had just come to the bedside and heard Xiaomi sighing.

”Nothing, just thinking about hunting. Second Sister, Little Bro was right, I’m just starting out, and I need to continue practicing tomorrow!”

Xiaoxue lay down next to Xiaomi, pulled up the thin blanket, and covered both of their stomachs.

The weather is hot now, but it’s still cool at night, and covering their stomachs could prevent illness.

”Then don’t run out all day like that again, we were all worried.”

Now that Second Aunt and Xiaoxue were at home, there was hardly any need for Second Aunt to worry about the fields, and Xiaomi didn’t have to worry about the housework either.

Xiaomi: ”Don’t worry, Second Sister, I get it.”

True to her word, from the next day on, she went out in the morning, came back at noon, had lunch, took a nap, then went out again, and always returned before dusk.

If it rained, she stayed home to practice her aim.

And during this time, she really had the good fortune to hit a rabbit. It was hit in the stomach, and though the rabbit didn’t die instantly, it ran a distance before Xiao Hei caught it back.

In June, after a thunderstorm, summer officially began.

Lately, besides the bountiful harvest of wheat and rapeseed, Zhang Xiaohua has been the most talked about.

Zhang Xiaohua actually learned embroidery from Xiaoxue and can now embroider sachets and handkerchiefs every day, earning quite a bit of money daily.

This sparked some people’s interest.

Many people asked Jiang Hu if Xiaoxue could also teach their daughters, and some newly married daughters-in-law were even pushed forward by their mothers-in-law.

This was a big undertaking, and Jiang Hu didn’t agree or refuse immediately, but asked Xiaoxue.

After discussing it with his daughter, Xiaoxue agreed, but not too many people could join. Besides Zhang Xiaohua, only ten others could come.

Moreover, there was an age limit for learning embroidery, between six and fifteen years old. If they were younger or older, it wouldn’t be very meaningful to learn.

Their schedule was the same as Zhang Xiaohua’s, attending the Jiang family’s courtyard in the afternoon for an hour and a half, and then they could each return home.

Xiaomi was a little puzzled, but thought her father must have his reasons and didn’t ask further.

Fortunately, Wei Ziang and Jiang Wei both had to attend school, so by the time they came back, the girls would almost be leaving.

Xiaomi, being someone who loves lively environments, couldn’t help but admit that too many people could be annoying at times, especially when a bunch of women gathered together.

In less than half a month, she had already heard all kinds of gossip, about whose daughter was engaged to whom, whose daughter wasn’t good-looking, and whose daughter was lazy and greedy.
