Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 292: Chapter 220: Thoughts

This way, there’s no need to worry about Jiang Yu marrying a girl from the city, and there’s no need to worry about Jiang family’s Little Lucky Star following Jiang Yu to the city either.

The village head pondered over it, thinking it did make sense, and in a moment of heat, he nodded in agreement.

All along the way, he had been thinking about how to speak naturally, so as not to let Jiang Hu detect the reason behind it.

As a result, halfway there, he discovered that besides himself, there seemed to be others heading towards Jiang’s house, and not just one person.

By now it was already evening, the light wasn’t good, and the distance was a bit far, so the village head couldn’t make out who was ahead.

But he was certain that there were adults and children, and immediately frowned. At such a late hour, and with only Jiang’s house at the end of the village, could it be that someone else had come to talk about marriage at Jiang’s?

The village head grew anxious in his heart; the good things shouldn’t go to outsiders’ fields. So he broke into a trot and approached. It turned out to be Liu Yang’s family!

The village head was taken aback and shouted loudly, ”Liu Yang!”

Liu Yang turned his head, smiling as he greeted, ”Village head, you’re also going to Jiang’s house for dinner?”

The village head looked at the few people opposite, his expression slightly darkened, not quite understanding what Jiang’s house meant by this, but he still nodded, ”Mm, you all too?”

”Yes, when Brother Jiang came back this morning, he asked us to go to his house for dinner tonight, though we don’t know what it’s about, he even asked our whole family to come.”

The village head felt even more puzzled, but still nodded, ”Me too. By the way, where’s your eldest son? Off working in town?”

He had seen Liu Hai at home just the other day.

”No, it’s just that these past few days Liu Hai goes to Jiang’s house every afternoon to find Jiang Yu. They have been close since childhood, and recently Jiang Yu is back, saying he’s teaching Liu Hai some new books.”

Saying this, Liu Yang was beaming with joy.

In the entire Fu’an Village, his family had the best relationship with Jiang’s family, and the ’good fortune’ they ’caught’ was the greatest. The family had prospered over the years; it was flourishing.

He could say, now sending his second son to school completely absolved him from worrying about tuition fees and book money.

The village head was somewhat envious about this too: ”You’re the insightful one. At the time, you let the child go to school with Jiang Yu, and that’s how their relationship turned out so well.”

Liu Yang felt proud inside, but naturally, he remained a bit humble in front of the village head.

”Oh, not really, it’s just a pity that my boy isn’t very promising, and as a father, I don’t have the capability to give him the chance, like Jiang Yu, to gain insights in the county.”

This was said quite sincerely, and indeed it was.

However, the village head felt a bit awkward hearing this.

After remaining silent for a while, he couldn’t hold back: ”There’s nothing good in the county, I think. Our life in the village with land and sky is good, the harvest is pretty decent every year, and growing some vegetables and raising some chickens and ducks should be enough for a good living.”

Liu Yang completely disagreed, ”But it’s the county! I’ve lived half my life and have never been to the county. If there’s a chance, it’d be great to visit and broaden my horizons.”

Liu Yang expressed genuine envy; just thinking about it made him happy.

”By the way, village head, my son Liu Hai said Jiang Yu’s reading is quite impressive now. His handwriting is even prettier than the teacher in town. Say, if he becomes a Scholar someday, wouldn’t our village benefit too?”

The more Liu Yang talked, the more feasible it seemed, and he started dreaming beautifully while stroking his chin: ”The storybooks always say that poor Scholars marry the daughters of wealthy families and bring honor to their families. Maybe Jiang Yu can make it too.”

When at home, after listening to his wife talk about Little Lucky Star being taken away, the village head’s face turned sour hearing Liu Yang speak.

Fortunately, with the dimming sky and Liu Yang’s mind elsewhere, he didn’t notice the village head’s expression.

It was a relief that the village head quickly adjusted himself, pretending nothing happened.

After all, Jiang Yu wasn’t a Scholar yet, and what Liu Yang spoke of was simply his own imagination.

It seems his wife was right, and they need to arrange for a village or nearby wife for Jiang Yu soon so that the Jiang family stays in Fu’an Village.

The village head kept responding to Liu Yang while pondering in his heart, even thinking from Liu Yang’s words that maybe tonight’s dinner wasn’t about marriage with Jiang Yu.

That was strange; what could it be about?

When the right time comes, he’d raise it with Jiang Hu, and if that doesn’t work, he’ll specifically talk to Jiang Hu about it tomorrow. Otherwise, Jiang Yu is almost about to leave after tomorrow, so it needs to be quick.

Thinking about this, he had reached Jiang’s house.
