Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 276: Chapter 215: Jiang Yu Leaves (Part 2)

”Steward, sit for a while. I’ll go ask him to pack his things.”

Although this had been mentioned before, it came unexpectedly fast. Plus, before Uncle Liu left last year, he didn’t remind us, so we thought we still had to wait a month or two. That’s why nothing was packed yet.

”No rush, let Mr. Jiang pack. I still have some matters I’d like to discuss with Master Jiang.”

Being called Master Jiang made Jiang Hu feel a bit uncomfortable for a moment.

This steward of the Liu family, because of Jiang Hu’s friendship with Uncle Liu transcending the age gap, was always very respectful towards the Jiang family, always addressing Jiang Hu as ’Master Jiang.’

For Jiang Hu, who was born a peasant, this was particularly uncomfortable. Despite mentioning it to the steward a few times, he didn’t change how he addressed him, so Jiang Hu had to let it go.

Jiang Yu and his second mother were still at the old house feeding chickens and pigs. It wasn’t until Jiang Hu informed them that they hurried back to pack.

While the mother and son were packing, Steward Liu discussed other matters with Jiang Hu.

When Xiaoxue brought them tea, it was Jiang Hu who took it from the door inside, and then he asked Xiaoxue to leave, not letting her listen in on the conversation.

Since last year, when he considered learning archery, Xiaomi had been staying at home the whole time, and today he finally couldn’t resist.

After feeling a bit accomplished from the practice, Xiaomi and Wei Ziang led Xiaohei up the mountain early in the morning.

By the time they returned, Jiang Yu had already left, and they didn’t even have the time to see him off.

”Why so fast? He just left like that.”

Xiaomi’s face fell. That morning, when they headed up the mountain, his elder brother had said they would study new texts in the afternoon. How is it that by the time she returned, they’d have to wait until the next New Year to meet again?

Jiang Hu ruffled Xiaomi’s head, ”It’s okay, your brother is going to study in the county. In a year or two, we’ll all be there, and by then, Xiaomi can see your brother anytime.”

Xiaomi’s eyes lit up instantly, ”Really? Are we moving house?”

Jiang Hu nodded and then shook his head, ”Not so fast. Your Grandpa Liu sent a message that it’ll still take at least a year.”

Xiaomi immediately forgot about being sad and was full of joy, ”Great! I’ve never seen what the county looks like.”

The main thing is, leaving Fu’an Village would allow their family to progress further.

Even if they weren’t officials or businessmen, but just farmers, being closer to the county would let them hire more workers, plant more land, and raise more chickens and ducks.

Thinking about it this way, his brother’s departure didn’t seem so sad anymore.

Jiang Hu patted Xiaomi’s head, ”Don’t worry, we’ll definitely go. But Xiaomi, you can’t tell anyone about this, not a single person.”

Xiaomi was puzzled, ”Why, Dad? Can’t we even tell the family?”

Why tell her, then?

Looking around, her mother and second sister were cooking, Wei Ziang was packing in the room, and Jiang Wei was nowhere to be found.

In the yard, there were only the father and daughter.

”Your mother knows, but don’t tell anyone else for now. Otherwise, it might slip out, and if the villagers find out...”

Although Xiaomi was young, she was actually the most understanding in the family, even more so than Jiang Yu and Xiaoxue. She’s grown up without causing any worries at home.

”Don’t let the villagers know?” Xiaomi was momentarily confused, not understanding what it meant.

Jiang Hu patted Xiaomi’s head, ”Xiaomi, you’re considered everyone’s Little Lucky Star. If you leave Fu’an Village, the villagers will surely try to stop you.”

Xiaomi: ”...”

The way he said it, it was as if she wasn’t a child of the Jiang family, but a communal property of Fu’an Village.

But on second thought, she suddenly understood. If her father said so, surely he had his own considerations.

And when she thought about it further, it actually made sense.

Over the past few years, she had never left Fu’an Village. With the grain and vegetables growing well, the wealth gap between Fu’an Village and the surrounding villages had gradually widened.

Even though people hadn’t mentioned the term ’Little Lucky Star’ as much in recent years, their actions clearly showed that Little Lucky Star’s ’status’ remained stable.

If the ’Little Lucky Star’ were to leave Fu’an Village and settle elsewhere, taking the good fortune with her, the villagers would surely start having other thoughts.

Thinking this way, Xiaomi understood.
