Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 285: Chapter 218: Marriage Proposal (Part 2)

Dad took one of the farmhands to deliver vegetables, leaving the rest to work in the fields. Little Mi, feeling bored, happened to hear someone knocking on the door at the front.

When a few farmhands left, they closed the door, but didn’t latch it.

If it was Wang Xiang, who frequently visited the Jiang family, or those little girls doing embroidery, they would usually just push the door open and come in.

After all, under normal circumstances, everyone is usually in the inner courtyard, and no one is in the front yard, so any knocking, if it’s quiet, can’t be heard from inside.

Just like today, if Little Mi hadn’t been bored and happened to be in the front yard getting ready to go out for a look, she probably wouldn’t have heard the knock, it was really that quiet.

However, Little Mi was a bit startled but still opened the main door: ”Granny Xie, my mom is over there in the old house feeding the pigs. I’ll take you there.”

The village chief’s wife’s surname is Xie, and since the Jiang family doesn’t have any relatives with any other family in the village, there’s no fuss about addresses — just call them by age.

”Over there, huh? Granny can go by herself, Little Mi, you stay at home and have fun. No need to come.”

After saying this, Granny Xie, who had already entered the courtyard, was nearly outside the door.

Little Mi blinked; this was the first time she felt so unwelcome.

Strange, strange.

Not to be vain, but she knew that whenever she was in the village, others were very delighted, eager to chat with her a bit longer.

Granny Xie used to be the same when she saw her; why did she only ask about her mom today and then ignore her?

Moreover, Little Mi clearly saw that when Granny Xie left, her expression was so elated, like she had just found a hundred silver notes!

Something must be up!

Thinking this, Little Mi waited for a while, estimating that Granny Xie should already be over at the old house, and hurriedly jogged over there.

Granny Xie seeking Second Mother truly meant there was something, and it was a big deal!

”Oh Second Mother, I finally found you.” Upon seeing Second Mother, Granny Xie beamed, and even her steps became much lighter.

Last year in the twelfth month, several big sows were sold, but a few days ago, more piglets were bought.

Raising piglets requires more care than big fat pigs; for example, with the current cold weather, pigs must be fed cooked and warm food, but not too hot.

Second Mother wasn’t having an easy day either, as in the morning, a few children collected eggs while the ducks were driven to the pond by them.

But feeding chickens, rabbits, and such was still quite busy, not to mention cooking pig feed for the piglets.

Just after pouring the pig feed for the pigs and planning to take a rest, she heard Granny Xie’s voice.

Second Mother was momentarily stunned before responding, ”Aunt Xie, why are you here? Is there something you need to talk to me about?”

Second Mother also found it a bit strange because although her youngest son had a good relationship with her husband, she wasn’t particularly close to Aunt Xie.

Not just this village chief’s wife, except for Wang Xiang, who often came looking for her at the Jiang family, Second Mother wasn’t very familiar with others.

Like Little Snow, no, I mean, Little Snow’s nature was definitely inherited from Second Mother’s, never leaving the house unless necessary.

But Aunt Xie, who obviously was quite familiar, laughed heartily and quickly walked up to Second Mother, even directly grabbing Second Mother’s hand.

Aunt Xie had quite some strength, and even when Second Mother tried to pull away, she couldn’t, and didn’t want to be too obvious about it, so she just let her hold on.

Originally wanting to say thanks to Aunt Xie, upon grabbing Second Mother’s hand, she was slightly surprised, staring at Second Mother’s hand with wide eyes, even feeling it a few times.

”Second Mother, your hands are too smooth and tender, not like hands that do labor at all; they’re so soft and smooth, even young girls don’t have hands as smooth as yours.”

Second Mother felt a bit awkward. After all, she wasn’t particularly close to Aunt Xie, and now she was holding her hand and talking about how smooth and tender it was. Luckily, it was a woman; otherwise, she would be quite flustered.

”Aunt Xie, what are you talking about? I’m almost thirty, I can’t compare to young girls.”

Saying that she pulled her hand back a bit, but couldn’t get it free, and Aunt Xie kept on feeling it several times.

Aunt Xie shook her head, ”You’re just blessed, having Little Lucky Star and so many people doing work at home, your hands, oh, they’re truly tender.”

Finally, her hands were released.

Second Mother’s hands were freed, so she quickly grabbed the pig feed bucket to leave the pigpen, also not forgetting to remind Aunt Xie.

”Aunt Xie, you came all the way here to find me, is there something urgent?”

If she didn’t change the subject, Aunt Xie might keep talking about her hands for a long time.
