Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 261: Chapter 210: Want to Go to the County Town

”Ah, wasn’t it because we were all too tired and overslept?” Other than this reason, Second Aunt couldn’t think of any other possibility.

”No wonder.” Jiang Yu had already changed back into his short casual clothes, convenient for work.

This time, going to the county, Second Aunt specifically made him some nice scholar’s robes, but those clothes could only be worn to school, as they were inconvenient at home.

”Little Yu, I noticed that Little Ze’s complexion doesn’t look too good. Is he still unable to eat food from outside?”

Every time Liu Ze went back to the county, Jiang Hu and Second Aunt would have them bring along food supplies like rice, flour, corn, and sweet potatoes, which could be stored for a long time.

At least enough to provide Liu Ze with three months’ worth of food.

Previously, when they set off around the time of the lunar New Year, Second Aunt would prepare in advance by killing fish, chickens, and rabbits to make some smoked meat and pickled vegetables for them to take.

This trip to the county was decided at the last minute, plus it was summer, so Second Aunt only had time to dry some vegetables.

”Little Ze also ate food from outside with us. He feels that apart from some stomach pain, there’s not much else, and he doesn’t have diarrhea anymore.”

”According to him, his body seems to have improved a lot, with various issues eased quite a bit. Presumably, after a few more years of care, he should be able to eat outside food.”

Second Aunt frowned slightly, ”Then what will he do about going to study in the county for the next two years?”

Jiang Yu shook his head, ”I don’t know, Uncle Liu said not to worry, let him think of a way.”

As he spoke, Jiang Yu got excited again, ”Mother, Liu Ze is really amazing at studying. This time, Uncle Liu took us to the county academy; the teacher held an exam. I just barely passed, but Liu Ze was praised by the teacher for quite a while!”

You know, just in terms of daily diligence, Jiang Yu spent a lot more time studying than Liu Ze.

Besides attending classes with Jiang Yu, Liu Ze mainly spent his time at home teaching his younger siblings.

While Jiang Yu would seize every moment to read and sometimes had to ask Liu Ze for help with homework, relying on serious effort to satisfy the county academy’s teacher to a passing degree.

Xiaomi was stoking the fire nearby, and hearing her brother’s words, she wasn’t surprised at all.

”Brother, Brother Ze qualified as a child scholar at five or six; he’s a true genius. Had it not been for his health issues, he might have already qualified as a Scholar. Few could compare with him.”

Second Aunt had already slain a chicken and placed it in a wooden bucket. She scooped hot water over it, lifted the chicken’s feet, and swirled it in the hot water, making it ready for plucking.

”Little Ze is indeed very smart. It’s just a pity his health is poor. I wonder if your Grandpa Liu has any good solutions. If Liu Ze can continue his studies, he’s sure to achieve something.”

Second Aunt was full of praise for Liu Ze; he was good at everything, studied well, was polite, and very diligent.

The only regret was probably his poor health, as any food outside of Fu’an Village made him sick.

Recalling how Liu Ze looked a few years ago and looking at him now, he was like a completely different person.

Thinking of this, Second Aunt couldn’t help but sigh, ”Alas, as the old saying goes, ’Heaven is jealous of talents,’ Little Ze has indeed gone through some hardships.”

According to Uncle Liu, if it weren’t for being cared for by the Jiang family over the past few years, Liu Ze might not have made it to eight years old.

Xiaomi’s eyes sparkled with an idea.

”Mother, do you think we could move to the county too?”

Xiangma Town has too few things, and it’s so far away that she never has the chance to go there alone, to get something or start something.

But if they could move to the county, things would be much more convenient.

No matter how prosperous the county might be, there are at least far more merchants coming and going there than in Xiangma Town, giving her more opportunities to start something.

Xiaomi had always wanted to do this, but never had the chance.

Hearing her mother’s mention of it, she suddenly had an idea.

Besides, from what she knew about the family’s situation, money wasn’t really a problem; not a lot, but purchasing some farmland and building a few small houses in a village near the county should be possible.

After Xiaomi finished speaking, she looked expectantly at Second Aunt, who paused in her chicken-plucking actions.

”Moving to the county would require quite some money, wouldn’t it? Besides, we would have to arrange farmland, houses, crops, and all that. Talking about the county, there’s not a single person we know.”

For farming people, the foundation is in agriculture. The family estate they’ve worked so hard to establish in Fu’an Village would be a great pity to just abandon.
