Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 284: Chapter 218: Marriage Proposal

Until that little girl left, Xiaomi was still holding back laughter.

Wei Ziang sighed helplessly, ”Xiaomi, don’t laugh like that, it sounds so strange.”

Seeing that the other girls who came to learn embroidery from the second sister had all left, Xiaomi couldn’t hold it anymore and burst out laughing loudly.

”Little brother, you’re really popular. My big brother is older than you, yet no one has ever brought him a handkerchief.”

Just as she finished speaking, her forehead was flicked: ”What are you talking about, consider your big brother’s feelings, okay?”

It was Jiang Yu, who had just left the house and heard his little sister making fun of him, leaving him speechless.

”Yu-ge,” Wei Ziang greeted, then turned to Xiaomi, caught between crying and laughing.

”I don’t want this kind of popularity. Besides, just because no one gives Yu-ge a handkerchief doesn’t mean he’s not popular. It’s just that Yu-ge’s situation is different now.”

Jiang Yu was even more speechless: ”I’m still the same big brother, how am I any different? After not seeing you for a year, does it feel like we’ve become distant?”

Xiaomi was also curious: ”Yeah, yeah, why do you say big brother is different? How come I don’t know?”

Wei Ziang sighed lightly: ”Yu-ge, did you forget? This year you passed the child scholar exam. Someone even came to the village to spread the good news.”

Xiaomi blinked: ”Is that all?”

Jiang Yu also looked puzzled: ”Just this?”

Wei Ziang nodded: ”Just this.”

”When I was at school, I occasionally heard other classmates from the village mention, something like, now that Yu-ge is a child scholar and is studying in the county, he surely wouldn’t consider the village girls.”

Just then, Jiang Hu also came over, and Wei Ziang quickly waved him over to ask if he had heard about this.

Jiang Hu shrugged, indicating indeed many had said so, but those things weren’t important, as big brother was still studying, no rush to talk about marriage.

”...”

Indeed, didn’t know what to say.

”Time to eat, what are you all standing around for?” Xiaoxue came from the kitchen and called the group standing in the yard.

At the dinner table, Xiaomi playfully recounted the earlier events to her parents, leaving them speechless as well.

But then, Erniang pondered, ”By the way, Ziang is almost nine, right?”

Before Wei Ziang could react, Xiaomi quickly exclaimed, ”Mom, you’re not really planning to find a match for little brother, are you? He’s not even nine yet!”

Originally, Wei Ziang didn’t feel much, but now he was a bit anxious, his eyes eagerly looking at Erniang: ”Auntie.”

Erniang lightly tapped Xiaomi’s forehead: ”What are you saying? I know your little brother is only nine.”

Having been knocked twice, Xiaomi pouted, rubbing her forehead: ”Then why did you suddenly mention little brother’s age?”

”Just mentioned it casually. Last year, someone did inquire about Ziang’s marriage, but I turned them down saying he’s still young.”

As Erniang placed food on Wei Ziang’s plate, she explained, ”Ziang, you’re still young, and studying is more important now. No hurry to talk about marriage, see even little Yu is twelve and hasn’t been matched yet.”

Generally, it starts around twelve or thirteen, with marriage possible by fourteen or fifteen, slightly later ones wouldn’t surpass sixteen or seventeen.

So really, for the kids in the family, there’s no rush.

Yet Erniang worried Wei Ziang might overthink it, fearing he’d feel she wasn’t concerned about his marriage prospects, so she explained further.

Wei Ziang immediately felt relieved and quickly said, ”Auntie’s right, I’m still young, no rush for me.”

Erniang could see he understood and smiled, ”As long as you understand. But if you fancy a girl, tell Auntie early, and she’ll find someone to propose for you.”

After all, still a child, talking about his own marriage made him feel shy, his fair cheeks turning red, repeatedly acknowledging.

Fortunately, Erniang saw he was embarrassed and didn’t bring up the matter again.

However, unexpectedly, just when they thought this matter was over, someone actually came to propose the next day!

But, the proposal wasn’t for Wei Ziang, it was for someone else.

”It’s Xiaomi, is your mom home?”

The visitor, unexpectedly the village chief’s wife, made Xiaomi blink in surprise.

It was still morning, with others either reading or embroidering, and the weather being a bit chilly, Xiaomi, not wanting to go up the mountain, dazed around the house.
